Chapter 162: Chapter 162. Kevin, Will Your Tears Freeze?
Kiana leveled up "Reminiscence of the Mad King" and had a conversation with Kalpas.
And this conversation sparked quite a few reactions from the audience…
"…Raiden Mei and Kalpas talking—it feels like they'll start fighting the next second."
Someone said that.
Right after, the long-awaited Eden finally appeared.
This world-class musician made a particularly striking entrance.
She captured everyone's attention with an exquisitely beautiful operatic note.
A perfect opener.
Following the voice, Mei searched forward, and a short cinematic played:
In the twilight, Eden held a golden wine glass in one hand, the other resting on a piano, gently brushing back her wind-blown hair.
"Greetings, visitor~."
This unbelievably beautiful CG illustration, paired with Eden's gentle, enchanting voice, sent countless people into a frenzy.
[Eden!! I'm your fan!!][Eden is so beautiful! Taking screenshots like crazy!]
Aside from the bullet comments, gift alerts flooded the screen. Even Elysia, used to massive reactions, looked a little surprised.
Let alone the audience.
[So many whales in Miss Elf's stream??]
[None of them even have Miss Elf's fan badge—clearly new viewers.]
Someone explained:
[I heard Miss Elf's Honkai Impact 3rd streams are the best, so I came to camp here. Now that Eden's here, as a devoted fan of hers, of course I had to throw some gifts!][That's right, everyone rise up! Let's flood Eden with another wave of gifts!]
At last, people understood.
These newly arrived rich fans had come specifically because they heard Eden had joined Honkai Impact 3rd and wanted to watch Miss Elf's stream.
[This is Eden's influence.][No joke, lots of people around me… recently downloaded Honkai Impact 3rd just to play Elysium Everlasting and see Eden.]
Some chose to spectate, others decided to play themselves.
[You must be thrilled these days, huh?]
Especially after learning that Elysian Realm only unlocks after completing Chapter 25 of the main story.
Carefully written storylines—everyone must experience them properly.
[Low-key, low-key.]
[Damn, I can already see your smug face. Pfffttttt.]
...
In the story, Eden noticed the approaching Mei.
"Hello, Miss Mei. I am the fourth of the Flame-Chasers—named [Gold], Eden."
Fourth?
Some viewers who didn't know that the Flame-Chasers' rankings weren't based on strength started pondering—Eden seems pretty strong?
Well, she's Eden after all. It's normal if miHoYo made her strong in-game.
Some even thought being ranked fourth was too low.
"Gold...?" Mei looked puzzled.
Eden gave a slight nod. "That's right. Elysia named me. I suppose she meant the wealth I possess."
"Although I've lived in the Thousand Windows Palace as splendid as a royal court, tasted unmatched delicacies and fine wine... I wouldn't describe myself that way."
"I'm just a singer on the stage, a ray of starlight that shines for the audience."
"Whether it's endless wealth or the title of [Gold], these are external gifts generously bestowed by others."
The atmosphere suddenly turned rather lofty.
But those familiar with Eden knew—whether in-game or in real life—this is just how she is, and she's serious.
Money truly is the least important thing to Eden.
The bullet comments perfectly reflected the cultural gap between the two worlds.
In the previous world, it would've been full of "rich lady, hungry hungry, feed feed"; in this world, it was all "the spirit of a songstress," "as expected of Eden."
Mei and Eden continued their conversation and got along quite well.
Eden smoothly bestowed her Engraved Memory upon Mei.
After receiving Eden's gift, Mei resumed her exploration of the Elysium.
As players listened to the distinctive voice lines that played during each Sigil selection, their bonds with the Flame-Chasers grew deeper.
After spending some time exploring the Elysian Realm, Mei returned to the lounge.
Having gone through multiple rounds of exploration, she felt a little tired and went to the resting area—only to find Eden leaning against the sofa, holding a wine glass.
"Eden..."
Just as Mei was about to greet her, Elysia suddenly popped out of nowhere and pulled her aside.
Then, Elysia playfully demonstrated how to receive gifts (i.e., gemstones of indeterminate value) from a drunken, spend-happy Eden.
Even the stream viewers were stunned by Eden's "relate-to-people-by-billions" generosity.
They sighed—truly, only in games can such a wild scene unfold.
Elysia just giggled softly.
...
Kiana stayed focused on the game, continuing to upgrade "Reminiscence of the Mad King."
Why upgrade Kalpas?
Definitely not because Kiana suddenly became a Kalpas solo stan—Kalpas' Signet just paired perfectly with Herrscher of Flamescion.
She is a pro Honkai player, after all! Hands on hips.jpg
After viewing Kalpas' memories, Kiana checked out Kevin's.
Both segments referenced the Tragedy of Binding.
In Kevin's memory [Crimson Ice], one particular dialogue stood out.
After the battle to eliminate the Herrscher of Binding ended,
Elysia asked Kevin, "Will your tears freeze?"
Kevin replied, "We fight for humanity's future."
In the end, Elysia regretfully asked how Kevin planned to explain everything to Hua.
After watching this memory, most players could piece together a rough picture:
Once the Herrscher of Binding appeared, and faced with its nearly uncounterable power, humanity's only strategy was to use overwhelming numbers to test the Herrscher's damage limits.
Then, Hua used Fusang to control the Herrscher, while Kevin unsheathed Might of An-Utu and wiped out every living being in range.
In other words, while the Tragedy of Binding was caused by the Herrscher—
…the one who personally killed all his comrades, leaving only thirteen MANTIS—
…was Kevin?
That's… a bit too cruel, isn't it?
They all somewhat knew that beneath Kevin's icy exterior was a surprisingly gentle heart.
But now, a gentle person had to carry out something so merciless himself.
[miHoYo, how dare you hide a knife in a memory!!]
[Kevin personally killed all his comrades? I'm roleplaying Kevin and having cardiac arrest!!]
[After something like that, Kevin only says "Humanity will defeat the Honkai"? Dude might be the sanest one here.]
[Honestly, I'm starting to understand why Kevin's so unhinged.]
...
Although many viewers began to empathize with Kevin after learning the truth behind the Tragedy of Binding—
This was still just the tip of the iceberg.
Even just that one line—"Will your tears freeze?"—was emotionally overwhelming.
Then, Kiana guided her character deeper into the Elysian Realm and encountered Su.
By now, players were fairly familiar with Su and had gotten used to his cryptic speech patterns.
What truly made them laugh was what came after Mei returned to the lounge and spoke with Elysia.
Elysia asked whether Su ever called Mei by name.
Mei said he hadn't.
And so Elysia concluded:
"He keeps his eyes closed all the time, right? Maybe he doesn't know who he's talking to. He's scared of calling the wrong name and making things awkward—so he just calls everyone 'visitor'! Yep, that must be it!"
In real life, Elysia was also pondering:
"Yeah, yeah. Come to think of it—how does Su recognize people?"
"Could it be… Su has psychic powers?"
"Ahhh, looks like this world still hides many secrets from us~."
Mei: "..."
"Elysia, please don't assign random settings to the real world."
"Ehehe~."
While Mei and Elysia chatted—
Kiana remained immersed in the game, grinding memories one by one.
Viewers gradually learned more about each Flame-Chaser's past.
Those who already knew them in real life quickly formed impressions of their in-game personas.
Similar… yet not quite the same?
Take Mobius, for instance—
Though everyone kept their distance from her in-game,
In real life, Miss Snake was just a bit passive-aggressive in tone, but not a bad person.
Yet in-game, everyone seemed downright afraid of her? Even calling her "a demon."
While some viewers felt this was unfair, Doctor and her assistant watching the stream found it perfectly logical.
It was Mobius, after all. Isn't being scary… expected?
The audience just had "beauty from a distance."
At least that's how they saw it.
"When will Mobius appear?"
"Doctor, are you that excited to see Dr. Mobius in the game?"
"I already told you—Mobius joining Honkai Impact 3rd must be suspicious. For the safety of all mankind, I must study this closely."
The assistant started to wonder whether the Doctor was serious… or just making excuses.
Genius minds are always hard to read.
...
With continuous exploration of the Elysian Realm, more memories unlocked.
Players became increasingly drawn to the Flame-Chasers' unique personalities.
Pretty faces are common—interesting souls are rare.
Even the gentle Su, or the straightforward Sakura—players could feel something different about them.
Of course, this process also helped Mei gather considerable intel.
She decided to pause progression and organize her findings.
Elysian Realm—within it lies memories encompassing everything.
Disordered, fragmented—but together, they form a complete history.
They are real events of the past—the legacy left by those who resisted the Honkai to the very end.
To uncover the meaning behind this legacy would be to gain more than just one answer.
But so far, all memories remained on the surface.
All deeper paths had been severed by a single name—[Mobius].
Undoubtedly, this was someone's deliberate design.
She was guiding Mei toward the predetermined node.
Mei had made up her mind—she would go find Mobius.
And through Mei's inner monologue, players too could feel a storm brewing on the horizon.
[Mobius feels like a villain in Elysian Realm!]
[No need to "feel"—she's almost certainly not a good person.]
[Seriously? Are there really bad people among the Flame-Chasers?]
[Well, why do you think they're called "Chasers" instead of "Heroes"?]
[…That actually makes sense. miHoYo does love this kind of wordplay.]
[If there are good and bad ones among the Flame-Chasers… could the later story be a showdown between them?]
