My Evermore: In Another World as a Harem Ruler

Chapter 3: Chapter 3: A Healer?

The stand-off between Zotrid and the bandits continued as none of the two sides made the first move. As much as the bandits would never say it, seeing the most skilled of them dead on the ground made them cautious of this weird kid in front of them.

"… Honestly, how do you even move without just tripping, much less fight!?" The first bandit complained not knowing what else he could say.

"Of course, I don't, after all, an Ero protag has his ways," Zotrid said with a shameless smile still in his boxing stance.

(Though, in reality, I can only do it so easily because I have the Auto-body control skill, and though right now at level 1 it can't drastically change my body, it allows me to fully move it the way I want to with no problem.) He thought to himself as he considered the real reason.

At the same time, the second and fourth bandits looked at each other and nodded deciding to use this moment to their advantage.

They went around to pincer Zotrid from the right and the left at the same time, the fourth pulled the saber from his waist, while the second got a cub from his back, both of them jumping at him, not committing the same mistake as their fallen comrade, despite having no idea that happened.

"It's the end fool! That's the price of distraction in combat." The fourth yelled his saber ready for the kill as he went for the waist.

"I can't believe he fell to such a novice, can't even keep his mind in the right place!" The second added as he raised his cub ready to smash the Ero monster's head into the ground.

Unfortunately for them, this was no longer level 1 Zotrid, his stats had risen, and he was no longer outmatched.

Swiftly he dodged the second before pulling from the third bandit's book and push-kicking him into the fourth's attack.

It all happened quickly and the fourth caught in the momentum of the movement cut the second's stomach open, but before he could die, Zotrid came in and slit the throat of the startled fourth and second.

As that happened Mera looked back, and immediately got off his neck, flying off.

[Lord Ero! You have killed a level 7 human bandit and a level 6 human bandit. Because of that you gained a bunch of exp, and have reached level 5.

[The level cap of your current rank. To increase the level cap and rank up, please form a harem of at least three women. Anyway, look behind you now!] Sophy informed him in his mind even giving him a warning.

This caused him to turn, but he was too late, the first bandit and the last one standing was already swinging his greatsword at him, there was nothing he could do about it.

"I got you! Bartar-… What?!" His expression turned from a grin to full shock.

As Mera, who had moved earlier slammed her fairy body at the bandit's face flying full speed, this was enough to destabilize him, causing him to stumble backward.

This chance was not wasted as Zotrid pounced him into the ground and began stabbing using the dagger, again going for the chest.

"Boss… Will… Get… You… Bastard…" Using the last of his strength the first bandit flipped him off as he said his last words.

[Lord Ero! You have killed a level 7 human bandit. However as your level has reached the cap of rank I, you won't receive any experience points.] Sophy came to Zotrid and Veira followed her, now that things had concluded.

"Ouch! Ouch! My body! My body! My body! It hurts so much!" Mera who had landed on the ground groaned in pain, her body ruffed up, and her wings folded in ways it should not.

"Mera!" Immediately Zotrid let go of the dagger and ran to her carefully lifting her small body off the ground with his bloodied hands, getting her covered in blood as well. "Are you ok?!" He asked.

Cough Cough

"Do I look ok to you?!… Ouch…Urgh.." Mera complained trying to look at him, only to fall on his hand forced to lay down due to the pain.

"We have to take her to a healer or get her a magic potion or something like that… I assume none of you two know healing?" Zotrid looked around and there were the 4 bodies of the bandits, the now-saved victim, Sophy, and Veira.

[Unfortunately, I don't, Lord Ero.] Sophy shook her head looking at Mera with worry plastered all over her face.

Following suit, Veira also shook get head, to his question.

This left him to turn to the victim.

Now that the commotion was done, and he got a good look at them, he was sure of it, but that was not the matter at hand.

The victim was slender with a pear-like shape having a flat chest, but thick thighs. Short blond hair that covered their eyes and nose, leaving only the mouth exposed, and a sharp thin face.

In terms of clothing, it was a white shirt under a waistcoat on the torso, and baggy black pants with light traveling shoes.

"Me?! I can't use healing magic, and I don't have a potion on me right now, these fellas made me lose my stuff before we got to this, and I have no idea where it all is. I'm sorry… But I do know a healer in the village! It's not too far from here!" The answer came with an awkward smile as eye contact was avoided.

In response, Zotrid walked up to them and said. "Please, take us there."

"Of course, after what you did for me here, I would be a beast not to. I'm Esna by the way, a bit of a walker, if I do say so myself." Esna replied with a smug, their face unreadable beyond that as it was covered by hair.

"Let's go then." Zotrid nodded his head, and Sophy as well as Veira came behind him.

"Okay!~… By the way, who are these two little cuties? Your younger sisters? Or are they related to your fairy companion?" Esna asked, head turning to the two small ones behind the Ero monster.

"It's something like that, Big family." Zotrid lied through his teeth as he felt there wasn't much of a good way to explain those two otherwise.

"Hi!" Esna waved at them multiple times, then began guiding the way.

The group followed through the forest, and the road path leaving behind the bodies of the bandits.

After walking for a good while, Zotrid felt too lost in his worry, so he began distracting himself in his mind. (Ok, Sophy, Show me my status screen. I need to focus on something else to calm down.)

[As you wish, Lord Ero. Also, please remain calm, Lady Mera's injuries though grave are far from fatal.] Sophy responded smiling at him with reassurance.

(Wow! That's a big jump… I'm already at least twice as strong… Right, Sophy?) Curious, he asked.

[Yes, Lord Ero. You're as strong as the average level-8 human, right now.] She responded.

(Wait… So that bandit I killed first was twice as strong as me? And lost like that?…) This surprised him as while he knew there was a difference, he had no idea it was that big.

[Skill is a great factor, Lord Ero. People like these bandits rely too much on their power advantage to bother refining their skills more than the basics of the basics.] Sophy explained casually.

(You're right, I was just surprised I could do something like that… It's truly a dream come true to be here… I'm happy to be here. That's why I have to take better care of Mera from now on, and not just her, but all of you, Sophy, and Veira. I'll become strong not only for myself but for you all as well.) Zotrid nodded to himself having made a decision, before looking back at Mera still lightly squirming in his hands.

From the side, Sophy smiled cheekily having heard what he just said to himself, while Veira just looked between her and him raising an eyebrow as if she could tell something was going on between the two of them.

The trip went on, as Esna guided them, and no more unexpected encounters took place, as the day went on the sun lowered from the sky.

Soon they reached a much more open area where a wooden wall of around 300cm in height surrounded a village right ahead, with a big wooden gate opened, and in front of it, two holding wooden spears could see them approaching and focused, their spears ready for combat if necessary.

Another day, another day, that was all it was usually, there was not much to be said about most days aside from, they happened, especially when day after day, more of the same, however every once in a while something new would happen, a slip-up from the routine.

Unfortunately, there was no knowing if the next one would be good or bad, and that was uncomfortable to the point it was best not to think of, at least as far as you can, so when it's good it's a nice surprise me, but when it's bad…

Better to not think of it. That was the response as the newcomers approached.

Once they were close enough, there was a reaction from the guards.

"Hey! Stop there! You covered in blood!" One of the spear guards yelled looking at Zotrid suspiciously.

"Huh… such a creepy kid… Is that thing a weapon? Why is it-… This has to be the work of a demon! Stay away!" The second guard looked at him confused until Zotrid was close enough and he fully realized the figure he was seeing.

This caused the purple-haired young man to stop as he looked at them with his rainbow eyes and even raised his hands carefully with Mera still in his hands to show no hostility. "I'm sure this looks-" He tried to explain himself.

"Shut it! Girls, were you captured or anything weird by this guy?" The first guy stopped Zotrid before he could say much, and focused on the girls.

"If this demon did anything to you at all, we'll be sure to handle him properly! You can tell us now!" The second guard added narrowing his eyes.

(Rude much, though I guess I do look suspicious with the blood and all that.) Zotrid sighed just standing there waiting for things to calm down, more so focused on being delicate with Mera's body.

[Hey! Lord Ero did nothing wrong! That's power abuse!] Though Sophy was more than mad enough for the both of them.

Meanwhile, while Veira stood in front of him, her arms fully extended both ways as she looked at the guards with narrowed eyes, and a frown.

At that moment, Esna stepped forward and said. "It's me, guys! Esna, and he's… I never got your name."

"Zotrid…" He responds with an eyebrow raised at the choice to do that now.

"Yeah! Zotrid! And this fella saved me from some real scary bandits, who pretended to be adventurers to fair advantage of my purity, sexy suave curvy body. Oh, that tragedy it would have been, but it was averted by this hun bun over here." Esna did some figure posing, hands outlining the body shape before those same hands curled around Zotrid's neck as the blondie's head rested on his shoulder.

[Hey! Let go of Lord Ero!] Sophy complained almost reflexively.

Then Veira pushed Esna and Zotrid apart, shaking her head.

(After that touch, I'm sure of it. It's such a pity, but it's part of an Ero protag's path to find disappointment sometimes too.) The purple-haired young man lamented in his mind as a discovery was cemented.

"Oh, I'm sorry tiny cutie, I'm not trying to seal him." Esna pet Veira's head.

This sight, helped the village gate guards calm down and lower their spears before their response came.

"Sorry about that, I saw the blood and the girls, and assumed the worst." The first guard said in an apologetic tone, holding the back of his head as he spoke.

"Oh come on, what else did you expect when you walk around like that? Basically naked, blood, and girls, it's on you as much as us." The second guard replied with his arms crossed.

(He's not completely wrong, and I have no time for this, the priority right now is Mera.) The purple-haired young man sighed.

"Esna, please take us to the healer." Zotrid insists, ignoring the guards.

"Oh right! This way!" Esna stops petting Veira and goes into the village as the others follow her.

The inside was not much of a scenery, just a simple village with a few hundred wooden houses, no less than 200, but definitely under 300.

Among its streets, occasional kids were roaming around, teens at worst but not that many adults outside, one or another, no more than that.

Passing through those same streets led them to an area with different buildings, rather than houses, these were 4 shops, a craftsmanship woodwork shop, a pub, an adventurers guild, and the building they were headed to…

A church?

While adventurers guild caught Zotrid's attention confusing him as to why a small village had one, that was not the focus, as the church came to view.

The building was similarly made of wood, however, had a much more refined and detailed craftsmanship, having its walls fully carved into it, creating a building that resembled a great sanctified tree on a boat.

(If it weren't for the nun at the door, I would have never guessed…) Zotrid thought to himself as he looked at the unique structure before him.

In front of said church, a woman was wearing the garments typically expected of nuns, at least in style it resembled those of earth, the difference being that this nun's clothes were green, adorned with golden for all the rest.

Not only that, but the only feature of her body visible was her face. Her hands, legs, arms, feet, neck, hair, and so on were all covered in the concealment of cloth.

"Oh! Brother Esna, you've returned! Sister Val has been worried about you and even came to talk to priestess Kitt about it. You should tell her you're back if you haven't already." The nun said as soon as she saw Esna.

"Oh! There goes my fun, but I guess you're right, but right now we need to see, priestess Kitt, this fella saved me from some scary bandits, and his fairy companion got injured during the battle." Esna pouted in disappointment as if someone had taken his toys away, but he soon shook it off and made the request necessary.

"…Oh! This… Young man saved you, huh?… Ok. I'll inform the priestess, please come and sit inside while you wait." The nun turned her attention to Zotrid and looked him up and down three times before she could answer, awkwardness all over her face before she covered it with a business smile.

Thus Esna, The Ero monster, Sophy, and Veira all went in, and inside it was a pretty typical church's main room with rows of seats there to accommodate believers, statues, and murals all over.

Taking a sit they all got as comfortable as they could whilst they waited.

"So, you're Zotrid, my dear savior… and here, I thought you were all quiet because you have trouble handling pretty faces like mine," Esna spoke with a smug on his face as he looked at him.

"Yeah… But I don't have trouble talking to pretty faces, actually, I quite appreciate all women, especially the pretty ones." He responded his hands still holding Mera who had since passed out.

"Ooh, and what are ya? An adventurer? Hero? Wandering warrior? All of the above? I am a novice adventurer, though this experience has taught me I'm still lacking." Esna continued to make conversation asking a question, leaning in as he talked.

"Hehe… I'm an aspiring adventurer and an aspiring Harem Ruler. I'm a true Ero after all." Zotrid sole casually if a bit embarrassed as he caught himself smiling.

"Hmmm, a pervert type, I didn't expect that from you. However I have to say, you're quite strong for someone only aspiring to things. Young as well… I'll have to invest in your future now.

"So you can count on me if you need to get around, you seem a bit clueless from the way you looked around when we got here. Let me guess, country kid? Though with that physique you might be from the mountains or even the demon empire, perhaps?" Esna stretched his body as he deduced, seeming rather lax.

(… Demon empire? Is it because of my Incubus physique? I don't know how people feel about demons in this world but judging from that guard earlier, it's no good, so let's stay away from that for now.) The purple hair young man decided in his mind.

"Mountains, though there's nothing to go back to now. Monsters and demons attacked and we're what's left of our home." Zotrid made up a backstory on the spot.

"… I see… I'm sorry to hear. I lost my parents to demons as well. Monsters are no better! That's why I became an adventurer, have to get that sweet revenge somehow." Esna sighed laying back on the wooden seat.

"Yeah, same. I'm sorry that happened, but at least we can help each other get there when we do meet." Zotrid smiled and offered his hand.

"Hehehe! You're a pretty ok guy for a pervert." Esna took his hand and shook it. "Now! I need to meet these precious ones as well." He hugged Sophy and Veira.

Before Zotrid could say anything, the nun returned.

"Huh… The priestess agreed to meet you, but only you and the patient can come in. Esna was forbidden until he apologized to Val." She said.

"Ok, Sophy and Veira, stay here with Esna. I'll be back soon." Zotrid said and taking Mera with him went with the nun.

The first day in another world getting closer to an ending, he could only marvel at being in his dream life, able to finally follow his path, so there was no way he would not protect it with all his strength.
