Chapter 10: It's The Perfect Marriage Contract

Kaelynnee curled up on the bed, hugging her knees as her emotions reached a climax. The weight of reality began to settle in, and fear washed over her as memories swirled in her mind of her family. A sudden, loud knock echoed through the quiet room, startling her and causing her heart to race wildly in her chest. The unexpected sound jolted her from her peaceful slumber, and in her confusion, she stumbled clumsily. With a gasp, she lost her balance and tumbled off the edge of the bed, hitting the floor with a soft thud.

"Miss Kaelynnee," a muffled voice called from the other side of the door, its urgency cutting through the haze of her disorientation. She blinked in the dim light, trying to gather her thoughts and decipher the sudden interruption to her serene morning." Are you decent?"

As the door swung open, her hair was styled in a tousled bun, and remnants of sleep still lingered in her eyes, suggesting she had just woken up. The sleeve of her pajamas had slipped slightly off her shoulder, and her pajama shorts were askew, revealing a hint of skin. Despite her disheveled look, the man quickly averted his gaze, feeling a wave of embarrassment." H-How could you answer the door without properly handling yourself?" he spoke abruptly.

Is this indecent?

" What do you mean?" With a furrowed brow and a hint of uncertainty in her voice," This is the clothes that you given me last night." She inquired.

He pointed at her pajamas as the strap was slightly off her shoulder and her short were revealing skin. She didn't think it was a big of a deal but didn't want him to feel uncomfortable since she was living under his roof for the unforeseeable future. He gestured toward her pajamas, his eyes drawn to the way one strap had slipped off her shoulder, exposing a bit more skin than she had intended. Her shorts were also cut short, leaving little to the imagination. While she personally didn't consider it a significant issue, she felt a wave of concern wash over her. After all, she didn't want to make him unease, particularly since she was staying in his home for what could be an extended period. She understood the importance of maintaining a comfortable atmosphere between them and was aware that it might be crossing an invisible line.

"How could you possibly dress so inappropriately in my presence?" he exclaimed, his brows furrowing in disapproval. "You are still so young and lack experience. Here's a piece of advice that I believe is crucial: never allow yourself to feel too comfortable around a man. There are those who might take advantage of your trust. I assure you, I am not one of those men, but remember, not everyone shares my perspective." His tone was firm, yet a hint of concern lingered in his words.

"Okay, Dad!" she replied with a heavy dose of sarcasm, rolling her eyes dramatically as she watched him stand in the doorway, his expression a mix of concern and authority. His overprotective demeanor struck a chord with her, evoking memories of her father that danced between fondness and irritation. "So, what brings you to my room?" she asked, glancing at the clock on her bedside table. "I really need to get ready to leave, so could you please make it quick?"

"You must cancel your plans immediately!" he insisted, his voice filled with urgency. The scheme we concocted was intricate, built on a web of deception designed to convince his parents and his fiancée that they are happily married for reasons that were ultimately selfish." I know I need to get you ready for the chaos that lay ahead. We must fabricate vivid memories of our supposed marriage, crafting stories that felt genuine and heartfelt. Tomorrow, we would face my unsuspecting parents, presenting our love as if it were real, reinforcing the validity of our relationship with a marriage contract that I was certain they would easily accept. My intention, however, was far from sincere; I wanted to unsettle them, to tarnish my father's company image, and to watch as everything he built began to crumble."

I guess he have his reasons too , I never really questioned his intention but I don't have room to complain since I carely want him because of his money. It's the perfect marriage in other words.

"I really should change out of these pajamas; just give me a few minutes," Kaelynnee murmured softly, glancing down at her comfortable but casual attire. But before she could move, he gently but firmly took hold of her wrist, his expression urgent as he pulled her down the dimly lit hallway. "We don't have time to waste! I'm on a strict schedule," he insisted, his voice leaving no room for debate.

As they reached the entrance of the apartment complex, the heavy door swung open, revealing a refined gentleman who stood waiting, ready to assist her. Kaelynnee felt a rush of air as she freed her wrist from his grasp and gracefully slid into the plush interior of the luxurious vehicle that awaited her—its leather seats inviting and the soft ambient light casting a warm glow around them.
