Mumen Rider in MHA

Chapter 117: Chapter 117 : The Red Sky

Kamino Ward – Late Afternoon

The sky over Kamino burned with sunset. Not gold, not pink—red. A deep, bruised crimson that stretched across the clouds like blood in water.

Satoru Kojima tightened the straps of his gloves as he stood outside a shuttered convenience store. The streets were quieter than usual. Windows locked. Doors closed. Not out of fear, but out of tension—like the city was holding its breath.

A breeze passed through. It carried the smell of exhaust, iron, and something else.

Ozone.

He didn't like it.

He adjusted his helmet. The polished surface of his goggles reflected the skyline—cracked, uncertain.

Behind him, one of the Minato Base radios crackled on his hip. A static-filled voice came through.

"Villain activity detected three blocks south. Non-combative. Patrol units advised to observe only."

He clicked it off without a word.

There was nothing remarkable about the alleyways of Kamino. But somehow, today, everything felt… off. Trash bins looked like traps. Fire escapes like escape routes. Even the wind was wrong.

Satoru rounded a corner and froze.

Kana.

Leaning against a pole, hood up, eyes glinting in the dying light. She wasn't doing anything—just watching. A bag of groceries dangled from one hand.

He stopped a few feet away.

"You following me?" he asked, voice neutral.

"No," she said. "Just walking."

They stared at each other.

Her hair was longer now. Less wild. Her posture more grounded. But there was still that fire behind her eyes—the kind that dared the world to strike first.

"You look like shit," she said finally.

"Thanks," he replied. "Means I'm working."

She hesitated.

Then: "You feel it too, don't you?"

He nodded slowly.

"Something's coming," she whispered. "I can't explain it. But I know."

"I know too."

She looked at him then. Really looked. Past the armor, past the new gear, past the reputation.

"You're not gonna run, are you?"

"I never do."

That made her scoff. But there was no mockery in it. Just a weary kind of understanding.

"They'll break you, Kojima," she said. "If you keep trying to carry everything alone."

He gave a small smile. "I'm not alone."

She didn't argue.

He turned to leave.

But her voice stopped him. Quiet. Rough.

"...You were right. About me. I'm not a monster."

He turned back. Just once.

"I know."
