Chapter 87: Psychic Queen Sabrina

— — — — — — —

"What's wrong, Eevee?" Cynthia asked curiously.

"Oh, it's nothing!" Eevee grinned, shaking its head. "I just found an interesting psychic!"

"Hmm?"

"My name is Renzo, an evolved Eevee! And who are you?" Eevee responded through the telepathic link.

"I am Sabrina! So you're not human? How strange!"

Sabrina was visibly surprised.

The psychic energy radiating from Eevee didn't feel like a typical Pokémon, nor did it resemble a pure human psychic. It was a peculiar and mysterious existence.

Sabrina suddenly grew very interested in Eevee.

She immediately sent an invitation through telepathy: "Would you like to visit my home? We can meet in person."

"Huh?"

Eevee blinked in surprise.

That was pretty straightforward.

But since it was also curious about Sabrina—the future Psychic Queen known as Master of Psychic Pokémon—it immediately responded, "Sure! We're on our way! See you soon!"

With that, Eevee lifted itself into the air, placed a paw on Cynthia's shoulder, and said, "Cynthia! Sabrina invited us over. What do you think?"

"Hmm? Sabrina? You mean the psychic you just mentioned?" Cynthia asked, intrigued.

"That's right! So, are we going?" Eevee nodded.

"Since she invited us, we might as well!" Cynthia agreed. She had always been curious about human psychics.

Speaking of which, ever since she had learned Eevee's modified meditation technique, she had also awakened psychic abilities. Though still weak—barely at an intermediate level—it technically made her a psychic, right?

"Then let's go! We'll teleport there!"

Without further delay, Eevee instantly teleported them away with a flash.

The citizens of Saffron City, upon seeing this, remained unfazed.

After all, Saffron City was home to a renowned psychic family.

Besides, just two years ago, Sabrina had lost control of her powers, causing quite a commotion.

However, visitors from other regions were visibly shocked.

After all, a Psychic-type Pokémon capable of teleporting with a human was quite rare.

Many onlookers couldn't help but look on with admiration.

---

Meanwhile, Eevee and Cynthia reappeared inside Saffron City Gym, landing in a dimly lit room.

"Where is this?"

Cynthia looked around, slightly uncomfortable with the eerie atmosphere.

"Welcome. I am Sabrina."

A voice echoed in their minds.

The next moment, a petite girl with an expressionless face floated toward them.

"So small! You're the one who invited us?" Cynthia asked, curiously studying her. "Nice to meet you! I'm Cynthia from the Sinnoh region."

She extended a hand in greeting.

The girl in front of her looked no older than five or six—adorable and pretty!

Unfortunately, her cold, emotionless face and dead, lifeless eyes ruined that cuteness.

"Hello, Cynthia."

Sabrina tilted her head in confusion at Cynthia's outstretched hand but didn't reach out in return. Instead, she simply replied with a short greeting.

It was clear she didn't understand the gesture.

"A problem child?"

The thought suddenly popped into Cynthia's mind.

"What do you mean by 'problem child'?"

Sabrina's voice echoed in Cynthia's head again.

Cynthia nearly jumped in shock.

"Y-You...!"

She huffed, glaring. "You shouldn't just read people's minds without permission!"

"It's a habit," Sabrina replied indifferently.

"You...!"

Cynthia wanted to argue, but Eevee quickly intervened. "Cynthia! It's obvious she lacks basic social awareness. Just let it go!"

"Huh? Lacks common sense?" Cynthia hesitated, looking at Sabrina again.

Faced with those empty, lifeless eyes, her frustration faded, replaced by a hint of sympathy.

She started imagining all sorts of tragic backstories about Sabrina's life...

"Her thoughts are chaotic."

Sabrina, unintentionally peering into Cynthia's mind again, turned to Eevee and commented telepathically.

"Uh..." Eevee twitched its ears. "Ignore her. She loves overthinking things."

"Anyway, nice to meet you, Sabrina! From what I can tell, you don't have full control over your psychic powers. You're not completely in sync with them, and there's a chance you could lose control at any moment. Want me to help?"

A rare flicker of surprise and curiosity flashed through Sabrina's eyes, but it quickly disappeared. She telepathically asked, "You can help me? How?"

Just then, a man and a woman suddenly teleported into the room. The man spoke up, looking straight at Eevee (in his Espeon form), "That's what we'd like to know as well. Espeon, can you really help Sabrina? How?"

The moment Eevee and Cynthia arrived, the couple had already sensed them. But since it was just a little girl and her Pokémon, they didn't react hastily.

Now, hearing this Espeon's claim, they couldn't hold back any longer.

Cynthia was surprised to see two more psychic users appear out of nowhere—both capable of teleportation, no less.

"Are powerful psychics just common now?" she wondered.

However, after comparing their appearances, she quickly figured it out. "These two must be her parents, right?"

Sure enough, in the next moment, the man and woman looked at Sabrina and said, "We're just worried about you, so we came to check on you! Please, don't push us away, Sabrina!"

Sabrina's mother looked like she was about to cry.

Only they knew how painful it had been when their sweet little girl awakened her psychic abilities overnight—only for them to spiral out of control.

Though she had eventually stabilized, she was never the same again. Their lively, adorable daughter had turned cold and emotionless, as if she no longer cared about anything.

Her emotions had become so distant, she barely seemed human.

"Yeah, I can definitely help! I'd say there's a good chance it'll work," Eevee nodded confidently.

Sabrina's parents exchanged glances, then looked at their daughter. Finally, they both nodded and said, "Then let's give it a try! Sabrina, what do you think?"

They carefully watched her for a response.

Cynthia, observing from the side, narrowed her eyes slightly. "It looks like her relationship with her parents is even worse than I thought."

"Fine," Sabrina nodded telepathically.

She wasn't doing it for her parents' sake. To her, they were no different from strangers.

She simply wanted to master her own power. That was all.

"I'll teach you a modified version of my meditation technique. Give it a try," Eevee said. It floated over to Sabrina, gently placing a paw on her forehead, transmitting the meditation technique directly into her mind.

Then, using its psychic powers, it moved Cynthia and itself further back.

Seeing this, Sabrina's parents quickly stepped back as well.

Sabrina sat cross-legged in mid-air, closing her eyes. Her body gently floated up and down.

Her psychic energy began to fluctuate more intensely.

Her parents watched anxiously as the changes continued, but fortunately, there was no sign of her powers spiraling out of control.

"Woom!"

A few minutes later, Sabrina's psychic energy surged to an Elite Four-level intensity. Her entire body was enveloped in a visible blue aura of psychic power.

After reaching a peak, her energy started to condense rapidly, quickly stabilizing.

Sabrina opened her eyes. They were completely different from before.

There was still some coldness, but now they had a trace of human emotion.

Curiosity, excitement... and more.

"So...Did it work?" Eevee floated over and asked telepathically.

Sabrina nodded slightly. Then, surprisingly, she spoke out loud for the first time in a long while, "Th... Thank you."

Her voice was stiff and unfamiliar, but at least she wasn't relying on telepathy anymore.

That was a good sign, wasn't it?

"No need to thank me! Congratulations!" Eevee grinned, reaching out a paw. "Let's reintroduce ourselves. I'm Eevee! I may have evolved into an Espeon, but people still like to call me Eevee."

"Sabrina," she said, hesitating for a moment before mimicking Eevee's gesture, extending her hand and shaking its paw. A small smile tugged at her lips.

"Oh my god... Honey, did you see that? Sabrina spoke! She's back to normal!"

"I... I saw it! This is incredible!"

"We owe everything to this Espeon! We have to properly thank them! And that young lady too!"

"Yes, yes! Whatever you say, dear!"

Sabrina's parents could no longer hold back their emotions. Watching their daughter interact with Eevee, they burst into tears of joy.

They had waited so long for this moment.

They had thought Sabrina would never return to normal.
