Mr. & Mrs. Saison-Monsour: The Mafia & The Slayer Married Life

Chapter 37: Pt.6: 36: Wifey’s Cold Fangs

Both husbands were preoccupied with business concerns, but their wives were still heated. They were having an intense staring contest, fighting for dominance, forgetting they weren't alone until Monica had enough.

"You need to cut that shit," Monica sternly said while sophisticatedly drinking her wine.

"Are you talking about yourself?" Skylar rebutted, drinking her wine as well.

"I'm talking about your sarcasm." She answered, filled with annoyance.

"Oh, why? Did I hit a nerve or something?" She scoffed, testing Monica's patience more.

"Stop being oblivious. You know what I am talking about." Monica snapped and glared at her, making Skylar smirk.

"And if I did, what is it to you? You've been testing me since you took your advances to my husband." Skylar daringly said before her voice turned to ice and threatening. "I protect what's mine, and you're not an excuse for my sarcasm."

"That's good, it makes me want him more." Monica dared without realizing what she pressed inside Skylar because the next thing they heard was a shattered glass and a bleeding hand.

Hot blood rushed down from Skylar's palm, and Monica watched it horrified like her challenging and flirtatious side suddenly vanished. She was terrified seeing Skylar's blood and intrigued Skylar to discover it later. However, she wasn't pleased with Monica's dare.

"Don't cross the line, Monica Johnson Sterling, or you won't see the light this early," Skylar whispered grimly, making Monica freeze in her seat.

Skylar stared dangerously at Monica. Her stare was piercing Monica's soul, holding her captive and speechless like she was taken into another world. She felt nude, vulnerable, and guilty under her heated stares—a warning. However, it didn't last for a second when their husbands interjected.

"WIFEY!" Vincencio exclaimed as soon as he saw Skylar's bleeding hand and worriedly asked, "What happened? What pissed you off this time? Your beautiful hand is bleeding again."

"I'm fine, Hubby." Skylar smiled with assurance, but Vincencio wasn't buying it.

"No, let's get you treated." He firmly said and called someone for a medical kit. "Medic, please."

"Vincencio, what do you mean about bleeding again?" Gregory curiously wondered as he watched him treat his wife.

"Before our marriage took place, she got her hand bleeding like this after a business meeting. Fearing I would lose her, made me marry her fast." Vincencio answered while he carefully treated her wounded hand.

"It's sweet, but there's nothing to worry about. I just held the glass tight." Skylar reasoned, but Vincencio knew the truth, making him sigh.

"Still! I hate it." He adorably pouted, making Skylar melt, and captured his lips with a peck.

"I'm fine; you'll heal me." Skylar sweetly countered her husband's cute pout. "You always do."

"Get a room," Gregory teased the couple, but Monica was shaken up, and Skylar noticed.

"I like that reaction," Skylar thought sinisterly before adding assurance. "Don't worry, Mrs. Sterling. It's just a scratch."

"Oh, I see…be careful next time." Monica softly replied, still in a daze about what she felt earlier.

"You too." Skylar smiled sinisterly, making Monica jolt but curious.

***

The meeting was still in progress and handled by the males. However, the heated side verbal catfight from their wives kept intercepting, making them grow wary. They understood women's catfights can't be intercepted by men, no matter how heated it was turning. Even their presence was forgotten; however, Vincencio had to remind his wife to keep her temper in check.

"Wifey, calm down, we're here for business. Not to kill someone." Amused, Vincencio whispered as he gently caressed Skylar's hand, but her eyes were still locked on Monica Johnson Sterling, Gregory's wife—her precious prey.

"I know, but the way she looks at you, it seems like you're meant to be eaten alive, so spare me for desiring to protect what belongs to me," Skylar firmly and possessively whispered back, making Vincencio smile amusingly at his wife's possessive nature. "You're mine."

"And I will always be yours. Everything about me is yours, so be tame and be the boss I knew." He whispered gently, although he was so fascinated by his wife's possessiveness that he was into it.

"Fine, but she started making advances again; I'll make her eat herself," Skylar warned firmly, which sent a shiver down Vincencio's spine, and a playful smirk slightly showed. Then, Skylar joined in on the topic. "I heard my husband gave you sample ideas and drafts already."

"Yes, he did. He emailed me the blueprint samples for the renovations and sample draft ideas for marketing strategies. However, I have a few concerns regarding the quotation he added. I know they were estimated, but comparing how new we are at this, we can't easily produce that amount of money for everything." Keeping his professionalism and friendliness, Gregory continued the meeting with a polite tone. He handed the hard copy of their concern regarding Vincencio's idea. "So, we create our own estimated quotation based on the funding we already had. I hope you'll give me honest pointers for this case."

Skylar quickly scanned but carefully analyzed everything written on their quotation. She even put a couple of marks, writing her feedback on them before she sternly looked at Gregory.

"My husband already briefed me about the potential concerns that might occur, and the estimated quotation is gravely your concern, right?" Skylar professionally asked, making Gregory nod, and she followed up with another concerning question. "How sure your resort isn't reaching its monthly quota?"

"What are you trying to say, that we faked our quotation? We're not stupid enough to sabotage our own business," Monica sarcastically refuted, forgetting who she was talking to.

"But you have the power to do so," Skylar responded coldly, but her eyes didn't meet hers. She was focused on handling the business she had with Gregory.

"Why you!" Monica was about to pick a fight if Gregory didn't intercept it.

"Skylar, please enlighten me. I want to make this work, please." Gregory pleaded, making Skylar nod.

"Mr. Sterling, your family resort already had given records before you took ownership, which means the resort already has star qualities, feedback, and loyal customers. In short, it already had a name and could meet the resort's quota." Skylar reminded Gregory that he was managing a family resort that had been standing before he was even born, adding, "You just happen to be in charge of evolving it."

"But resorts weren't always filled with customers." Monica tried to reason, which was understandable.

"True, but company outings, outreach programs, seminars, and other events could fill them," Skylar answered without hesitation, ignoring her existence.

"It does, but spending money on this project with that amount could affect our employees' salaries." Monica sarcastically responded, and Skylar wanted to slam her hand on the table but didn't and just nodded.

"I see. How much was their salary?" she nonchalantly asked as she went into full business mode.

"Above minimum, and we can't cut it because of these updates," Monica answered before Gregory could.

"So you're auditing them. How thoughtful," Skylar mocked, pissing Monica off more before adding, "Are you sure they were accurate?"

"Do you think I am lying?" Monica rebutted, glaring at her.

"You're the one who said it." Skylar scoffed, and both men felt their fire was still on the wheels again.

"You…" Monica tried to speak when Skylar handed four files directly to Gregory.

"What my husband gave is only the estimated quotation for the project. And now, hearing your concerns, here are the JohnSling Beach Resort's expenses within a week, for the entire month, and within three months, plus the peak season." Skylar said coldly, placing each file before him and briefing him on what was inside. "Those four files were all the expenses, from electrical, water billing, accommodations and amenities maintenance, restaurant supplies and maintenance, emergency kits, and securities."

"What the?! How come the value of our weekly, monthly, three-month expenses, and peak seasons are like this? It's hitting our quota and more. It could do the projects and still have enough for the rest." Gregory reacted surprisingly after reading and seeing the computation that Skylar's team did for their resort. "How is it possible? Did we compute it wrong?"

"I don't know why yours won't tally on our computation, no matter how many times we recomputed it." She answered, shrugging her shoulders before proceeding to other information. "Anyway, each file has remarks and conclusions about the money and where it should be used. The resort's profits were divided evenly for your employees, expenses in different areas, reserved for any casualties or emergencies, and your income, which is pretty much doable for a childless married couple like you."

"It does. But I don't understand how our computation is different from yours. It won't add up when everything printed here is the same. It's confusing," Gregory admitted, and the couple could see the frustration in the man but not with his wife.

"Ask the person in charge of the resort's money, Mr. Sterling." Indirectly, Skylar aimed at Monica, which didn't go right in her ears.

"Are you saying I am stealing money from my own business?" Monica rebutted angrily, indicating Skylar had already won.

"I didn't say that." Skylar refuted flatly, making Monica pissed. "You did."

"You're pointing at," Monica spat, and Skylar chuckled.

"And you reacted badly," Skylar smirked tauntingly.

"You're too much." Monica spat as she slammed her hand on the table, making their partners sigh. Catfight. Again.

"Enough, both of you unless you want this to extend and see each other until tomorrow." Vincencio's cold voice caught their attention, silencing them. "Thought so. Anyway, Mrs. Sterling, you said that you're responsible for auditing the resort's profits, which also means you're the one who's managing where the money will go, am I right?"

Vincencio might have sounded calm, but firmness was evident at the edge of his tone and didn't escape Skylar and Gregory's hearing. However, Monica was insensitively nodded to, making Vincencio sigh.

"Then have you informed your husband where the rest of the money goes, or did you write it in the ledger about what goes in and comes out of your resort?" Vincencio asked seriously.

Silence spoke louder for Monica, making Gregory sigh in disappointment when Skylar tossed another file. He looked confused, but seeing the stern look over Skylar, it only meant something serious.

"Here is the missing value of your resort's profit within a month and three months," Skylar said firmly before adding, "If you're asking how we do it, I used my security to track where the rest of your resort's money goes and those establishments' names and where they went along with the person who took it from here."

Monica's expression went pale but masked it as she watched Gregory read them thoroughly before looking at her. He was searching for the truth, but seeing nothing but confusion, he sighed in disappointment. However, he didn't want his wife to be humiliated for her fault regardless of how flirty she was with another man.

"I can see my wife made a mistake without letting me know about it, and it was also my fault for not double-checking things. But how can we overcome this and do all of these updates if we don't reduce the budget? I can't get any loan from the bank without paying the first loan I got," Gregory asked with conviction before adding personal reasons for keeping the resort. "I don't want to lose the only childhood memory I had with my grandparents without trying."

"You heard the man." Skylar grinned coldly while not looking, making Monica fume, but gladly, Vincencio intercepted it before things heated up again.

"That's what I need to hear from you, Mr. Sterling, your sincerity, so here's our gift for our first collaboration." Vincencio grinned as he handed over a new file—the true project detail goes within Gregory's resort's budget. "Since I had a meticulous wife, I must ensure you'll have this project on the go regardless of the bumpy road ahead. And seeing how much you love the resort, not because of the potential profit it could give you, I prepared this eco- and budget-friendly plan for your resort, which I had been revising until it was approved."

"You did…" Gregory softly said, his hands quivered, and he started tearing up. But Monica has to ruin the peaceful moment there.

"You tested us for this?" Monica scoffed in disbelief, clearly not doing great to Skylar's ears. Vincencio noticed his wife's rage, ready to bite, but he quickly grabbed her hand tightly, calming her down.

"Listen very carefully here, I have every right to check the person I'm collaborating with where you're not part of it. Mr. Gregory Sterling proved his worth through this project, and I decided to give him the hand he needs." With venom, Skylar answered coldly before whispering tauntingly. "Again, you're not included."
