Mr Billionaire’s Obsession

Chapter 7: Chapter 7

The next day, I received a call from Aiden, informing me that he had something urgent to tell me. I was confused because I had work to go to, and he was just in the room next door. It wouldn't hurt if he waited until I came back from work. But then again, a thought said I should go and see what he had to say. It might be important.

I was already dressed up from school. He could drop me off at least, right? I picked up my bag and left for Aiden's apartment. I have a key to the apartment, so I opened it myself. I met him on his laptop. He waved at me, "Come over. Come and check this out," he said, like he didn't just make a hurried call as if something was wrong with him.

"Are you kidding? You called me here in a hurry only to see you on your laptop?" I said in disbelief.

He rolled his eyes. "Come and see what I have for you." I went forward to see what he wanted to show me. He patted the side beside him for me to sit, and I did just that.

"Read what's on the screen," he said. I heaved a sigh and read it. "The engagement party of the young and handsome billionaire's son of the Robinson clan." I paused when I realized what I had just read.

"Wait..." I said in disbelief, with my eyes staring at the screen. What shocked me wasn't the fact that Aiden was getting married but the fact that he was getting married to my step-sister, Emma.

"This can't be happening right now," I said in disbelief. "This can't be happening."

"That's what I have to show you. Your boss is getting married. Can you believe it? Not just that, he is getting married to the richest oil mogul in the state," Aiden said, like this was so impressive.

He isn't aware of who Emma is to me. Aiden doesn't know about my real past. All he sees me as is a fat girl who wanted to be slim and she got it. He doesn't know who my family is. No one knows who I am. I don't have to give it away. I need to act like I wasn't affected.

"If he wants to marry, then that's his business," I said with a shrug and was about to get up, but he held my hand, stopping me.

"Wait! Are you sure you don't feel bad about this? Remember, you told me about the one-night stand. You don't feel any surge of jealousy?" I scoffed. "What do you expect me to do? Run to him and stop him from getting married? I won't do that. He can marry whoever he seems to deem fit. I don't care at all," I said to him as a matter of fact.

I offered him a smile. "You don't have to worry about me. This ain't the first time I'm used to things like this. I've been used to so many things that I don't even care anymore."

I shrugged. He shook his head. "Sometimes I feel like there's more to you than you're letting on. There are times I really want to know what's in your head, Olivia. I want to know badly what you're thinking about."

I placed my hand on his shoulder. "I'm a nobody. I'm just a girl who wants to survive."

He smirked. "So you don't mind going on a date with me, then?" he said, like it was nothing.

I gave him a confused look. "What's with you? I didn't just get dumped, so stop acting like I'm a new catch."

He raised a brow. "What if I want to be a real man to you? Will you let me?"

Now he's getting me all confused. "Can we just stop this conversation? I don't like where it's heading," I said as a matter of fact.

"We'll talk some more when I get back, okay?" Aiden nodded and waved at me. I went out and made my way to work.

There are lots of talks going around the office. I'm sure it's the news about his engagement party. This must be a surprise to everyone. Well, I can't say I'm that surprised since he mentioned he has a fiancée to me yesterday, but I didn't imagine it to be Emma. Why Emma of all people? According to the news, they refer to her as the only daughter of the oil mogul. Like, how is that even possible? I'm the only daughter my dad had, not her. She is nothing but an intruder, just like her mother. I shook the thought away.

I was about to enter the elevator when I saw Anna, Adrian's mistress, whom we went to meet at the restaurant. She offered me a smile, surprisingly. Of course, she would be so happy since she doesn't realize that there was nothing between Adrian and me.

"Hi, Olivia, right?" she greeted.

"Yeah, hello," I replied.

"I came to check on Adrian, but he isn't in yet," she said, and I nodded.

"When he comes, tell him I said hello," she said and walked off.

I huffed. Do I look like her messenger now? If she wants to get his attention, then she should call him herself and relay her message. I don't care at this point. I'm all about my work, and that's all.

Adrian isn't in yet. I thought of calling him, then I thought against it. Maybe I should just call. He is my boss, anyway. It's only about work; I tried to reassure myself. I dialed his number, and he picked up immediately.

"Hi."

"Yes?" That was his response.

I rolled my eyes but continued what I had to say.

"You didn't come in, so I thought I'd check on you," I said stupidly, and I regretted it the moment the sentence left my lips.

"Bring the file home for me. I'm busy," he said.

I'm definitely not going to his house. He's having an engagement party, and that only means I might see my family there.

"I can leave it until tomorrow, sir. I don't have to come over with the file," I tried to change his mind, but he didn't listen.

"I'm the boss here, and I want you to bring the file home for me, Olivia. I don't want to repeat myself."
