Mountain Sitting Immortal

Chapter 400: Jade Problem.

As a new species, he also won't be able to reproduce with other cultivators at the third mortal coil because he and they will be too different at that point. They will be practically different races.

He doesn't think it is unnatural by any means. He thinks it is just right that humans lose their urges to have sex and fall in love because they don't need to reproduce anymore.

There will be a lot of humans who can't fathom losing their ability to love and reproduce. There will also be many people who don't think losing those two things is a good thing. But as a human who has lived a long life and experienced both of them many times, he thinks they are overrated.

From a biological standpoint, he thinks that it is a good thing that all of the energy needed to maintain reproductive organs can be redirected into power. And from a mental point of view, he thinks it is a good thing that distractions such as sex and love are eliminated so that the pursuit of power will become more efficient.

He thought to himself, "At the very least, someone who looks like my mother won't be hounding me anymore."

Hounding is the most accurate word to describe what she is doing to him. She doesn't harass him or even disturb him, but the women that he has sex with are made to regret it after the act.

She didn't harass those women either. She only beat them once or twice when she had the chance.

In the meantime, she watched him and took note of the people he interacted with. She was not aggressive about it. But she was insistent about him.

He had thought of many ways to make her back off, but the best thing he could think of that would surely solve the problem is if her interest in sex dies completely.

He is counting on the evolution granted by cultivation to solve the problem for him. In the meantime, he ignored her.

He was thinking about this when Jason pointed out that he was distracted. Goldwyn then scoffed and said, "I bet he is thinking about that girl."

He used his eyes to gesture in Jade's direction. Jason saw her and turned to Arthur with a weird look on his face.

Before he said anything, Arthur denied it by shaking his head and saying, "It is not what you think. I can't be interested in her."

He said what he said using his voice transmission so that only the two of them would hear what he said.

Goldwyn chuckled and asked with a secret voice transmission, "Why not? Can't is a big word. But from what I can see, it is surely possible for you to fall for her."

Jason explained to him, "How do I put this delicately? She looks exactly like his mother. I mean, exactly. The resemblance is uncanny."

Goldwyn's eyes lit up as he was enlightened. He exclaimed after realizing the situation, "Oh. I see."

Arthur chuckled at the sight. Then he thought to himself, "If only you knew the whole story."

No matter how beautiful Jade is, he just can't contemplate having any sort of sexual relationship with her because not only does she look like his mother, but she is also related to him.

Over the past 20 years, he has done some research about Jade and the family that she comes from. He didn't do the research because he spent much time thinking about her. He had to do the research because her family approached him.

They approached him to ask him to recognize the family ties he has with their families. It was then that he learned that his mother, Lady Vena, and Jade are from the same family.

In fact, Jade can be considered her niece. So he and Jade are cousins. This makes two things that stand in the way of anything happening between them.

Of course Jade's family failed in their attempt to get him to consider himself as a part of their family. Whatever their goals about him were, they had to stop at that point because they couldn't make any progress with him.

He grew up in the compound of the Dyson family, yet he only considers himself a distant relative of the Dyson family. So there was no way he was going to consider some people related to his mother as anything more than strangers.

He did find the history of their family interesting, though. Jade's family is called the Roe family. They used to be a large cultivation family in their heyday.

The Roe family was a cultivation family subordinated to the Jade Cauldron sect. When the Jade Cauldron sect was being attacked by the Sword Way league, the Roe family stood on the side of the Jade Cauldron sect and fought for them.

While the other families, like the Milton family, who also used to be subordinates of the Jade Cauldron sect, only did the barest minimum to support the Jade Cauldron sect, the Roe family went all in supporting the Jade Cauldron sect in hopes of being rewarded highly after the war.

It can't be said that their decision was foolish. Their move was certainly ambitious, but it didn't seem foolish at the time because the Sword Way league was a young upstart.

The Sword Way league wasn't even a family with a long history and heritage. They were a group of hardheaded mercenaries who decided to do something as foolish as challenging a sect.

No one thought that the Sword Way league would win the war and replace the Jade Cauldron sect to become the Sword Way sect. So it seemed like a safe bet to go all in on supporting the Jade Cauldron sect.

History has proven that what appeared to be a safe bet was the wrong bet and that the foolish men who were swinging large swords about weren't weak but were hiding their strength. So the Roe family lost a lot of their combat power and investment.
