Moon Blossom Asura

Chapter 4: You Saw a Fish Swimming in The Darkness? So You were The One Spying on Me

On top of the Roof of a house, Yuruki, Ina, and Marx were watching the battle between the Arnia and Terbae soldiers.

“…Arnia so weak…” Ina muttered.

“Isn’t it more like, mid-level monsters are just that strong?” Yuruki said.

The Arnia platoon couldn’t do anything against the black wolf-like monster that, the Terbae soldiers were leading. They’ve been watching since the start of the battle, and already two people have been torn apart by the monster’s claws.

“So? When are we jumping into this fight?” Marx asked Yuruki while crossing his arms.

“Good job, Loura! Now tear the other three to shreds!” One of the Terbae soldiers exclaimed in excitement. They were too distracted by bullying the Arnia soldiers to notice Yuruki’s squad. Asura has told them that they will rarely look up. So if they keep their presence out of sight, they won’t be found easily. “You see this black monster, that’s Loura-Chan.” Another soldier teased.

“So? When are we gonna move? And what’s our first move?” Marx asked.

“…Marx You’re… way too serious…” Ina said while sighing and shaking her head. The Arnia soldiers kept attacking the monster called Loura with their swords, but it easily dodged them. There was a considerable difference in their physical abilities. Then, Loura bit off the head of one of the soldiers swallowed the meat part of it, and licked its maw.

“It’s not only strong, but it’s also quite vicious isn’t it?” Yuruki said with a bitter smile.

“…It’s like humans are just snacks… for him huh?… I want to be reborn into a monster… In my next life…” Ina said happily. Due to her misanthropy. Ina feels nothing but joy watching humans die. Yuruki is aware of this because of how long it took her to open up and talk about her feelings with the others in the gang and later on to the members of Moon Blossom. Well, all children who grew up on the streets are like that though. Yuruki thought to himself.

“Make sure to eat me first. I’m sure I’ll taste delicious.” Yuruki said.

“…I wouldn’t eat you… Yuruki-Nii…” When Yuruki first met Ina, she was smiling while licking the shoes of an adult for a peace of bread. She was always smiling while cursing everything behind her smile.

 “… I won’t eat my saviour… I might eat Marx though… Maybe?…”

“Why do I have to be eaten?” Marx asked with a blank expression. “I’m one of your teammates you know?”

“…I’m kidding. I wouldn’t eat anyone from… Moon Blossom…”

“Hmm. You said he’s your saviour, what happened?” Marx asked.

“You know people don’t like it when you pry into their past, right?” By the time Yuruki said this, only one soldier was still alive. He seemed to be reasonably strong, and even though he was injured, he didn’t show any signs of wanting to run.

“What’s wrong with wanting to know more about people in the same group as me?” Marx asked back. “No, well, it’s nothing big. I just invited Ina to join my gang, that’s all.” He wanted to save Ina, who was trying to sell her body at the age of 10. He wanted to save her from that hell. He wanted to tell her “You don’t have to put a fake smile anymore.” That she doesn’t need to flatter anyone to live. “…You told me you were going to take… Everything from those bastards… You were so cool…” Yuruki told her this while burning the guy who tried to buy the hollow-looking Ina to death.

“I can’t even imagine the life you two must’ve lived,” Marx said. “There’s nothing to imagine. We were just orphans who got sick of being bullied, so we formed a gang and fought back. It’s just your usual boring story.” When Yuruki met Ina, he was already a bandit. He noticed her around town as he was looking around for places to steal. Although he felt sorry for her at the time, he didn’t even speak to her. But by the time the sun went down, he got curious and went back to look for Ina. He found her in an ally with a fat guy on top of her trying to undress her. He couldn’t understand why, but he was so angry that he snapped. Oh, this world is filled with nothing but shit. He thought.

“I used to hunt down people like you,” Marx said. “I’m sure. You were a righteous knight, after all.” Yuruki replied.

The knights would sometimes assist in maintaining public order at the request of the military police. “And now we are companions. Life is strange, I’m I right.”

[TN: I couldn’t help myself but write it that way lol.]

“Sure is. Our boss is a crazy little girl, Me and Ina are bandits, You used to be a knight. I don’t know what the Vice-Cap’s secret is but I’m sure she had her reason for joining. We’re not exactly your typical mercenary group… And the last guy croaked. Marx, can you hit Loura-Chan with your [Water Prison] from here?” “Right now, yes I can,” Marx replied as Loura was eating the last defeated Arnian soldier. “Okay, Ina, shoot the enemy commander,” Yuruki ordered holding up three fingers. Ina knocked an arrow into her bow. Yuruki lowered one finger. Ina used the creation spell [Acceleration] on the arrow. It is a spell that uses the wind element to increase the speed of objects. Another finger goes down. He then pointed the last finger diagonally downwards. Just then Marx used his [Water Prison]. At the same time, Ina released her arrow. A ball of water is generated on top of Loura-Chan’s face, and she struggles. Ina’s arrow pierced through the commander’s head and was stuck into the ground.

“Enemies! Above us! They’re on the roof!” One of the soldiers shouted while drawing his sword.

“And how are you gonna reach us with that?” Yuruki muttered while preparing an arrow. He immediately shoots. It pierced through the guy’s chest, and he fell down. With that, two people died. Ina shot another arrow while using [Acceleration]. However, the enemy she was aiming for deflected the arrow with his sword. “…No way.” Yuruki who was preparing his next arrow, froze for a second. An arrow speed that’s supported by Ina’s [Acceleration] is not something that could be easily deflected. At least, not for Yuruki.

Just then, one of the soldiers jumped. without even using magic, he landed on the roof with a single jump. By the looks of him, he was about the same age as Yuruki, around 18. He had shoulder-length silver hair and a beautiful face. He is a little shorter than Yuruki. Yuruki immediately put away his bow and equipped both hands with daggers. He quickly looked at Loura’s status– it wasn’t dead yet. If that is the case, protecting Marx is the top priority. Make sure to kill the monster. That’s what Asura said.

“You guys are good.” The silver-haired enemy soldier said. Silver-haired people are all crazy. So far, all of them were distorted personalities. Well, the only other one I know is the commander. Yuruki thought. “You’re not so bad yourself.” If he wants to talk, I can buy time. The main objective of this mission is to kill the monsters. Worst case scenario we don’t have to kill the soldiers. “How about you leave? Loura’s already dead.” The silver-haired enemy soldier said with a grin to the two who were still down on the ground. The two ran away without hesitation. Are they that confident about his chances?  “So, how about you tell us your name?” Yuruki asked.

“Who? Me?”

“Yes. You. Who else is there?”

“Shouldn’t you introduce yourself first?” The silver-haired man said with a smile.

“My name is Yuruki Kuusela of the mercenary group Moon Blossom. This one is my little sister Ina. And the big guy that’s using magic is…”

“Marx Redford of the Asuer knights,” the silver-haired man said interrupting Yuruki. “You were in the [Hero Selection Test] twice, weren’t you?”

“Right now, I’m just a mercenary with Moon Blossom,” Marx replied while holding his dagger. That means Loura is dead. What should we do now? Yuruki thought. Although they have the numbers, the enemy is quite strong.

Lumia signalled with her eyes that she would use [Flashbang]. But Asura shook her head. That’s not fun. She thought. Besides. she promised the boy that she’d show him the Terbae platoon being killed.

“Don’t you dare interfere!” A large man said this while stepping up towards Asura without drawing his sword.

“Hmm. You have a monster right there. Why not use it?” Asura asked.

“Shut up you brat! How dare you do this to my friend!” The large man said this while raising his fist. “I’m going to beat you half to death and then rape you. I’ll show you hell before I sell you.” The man swung his right fist. Asura used her own right hand to push herself away using his own arm. At the same time, she used a knee drop move to quickly move behind him. Then she kicked him in the balls with the tip of her boot. The man dropped to the ground while letting out a screeching scream.

“Oops. Did I just crush them?” Asura being a man in her previous life, knows very well how vital that area is.

“Don’t you wish you were wearing full armour now? It’s all because of your light armour.” Asura laughed. “Now you can’t do your favourite thing, raping women on the battlefield. Are you sad about this? Are you sad enough you want to die?”

“I’ll… *Sob*…Fucking kill you.” The man glared at Asura while half crying. But still, he couldn’t get up. “Haha, weren’t you going to rape me? Don’t hold back use the monster.”

“Geete! Kill that bitch!” The commander ordered. I see. So this one is called Geete. Asura thought. Well, It’s not like I’ll remember it anyway. After barking once, Geete rushed toward Asura on two legs. “Oh, he’s a fast one…” Geete swung his right claw and hit Asura. She tried to guard with her left arm, but his attack was strong enough to send her flying and she landed on the ground. A normal human would’ve died on the spot. That’s how powerful his attack was. However, Asura immediately sat up.

“I thought I was dead there… Hee hee.” Asura’s body was emitting a faint golden light. This is Lumia’s support spell [Overcoat]. It is an armour spell that can dramatically increase defence. However, Its duration is very short. The duration depends on the amount of magic power put into the spell. But, even if Lumia used her full power on it, it would only last about two minutes. “Ow. That hurt.” Asura laughed, her left arm hanging loosely. “It’s broken. Ah, it hurts. It hurts so much that it excites me. I can’t get enough of this pain. I’m having so much fun. It’s so fun. There’s nothing better than a fight to the death.” When Geete saw the smile on her face he took a step back.

“Are you afraid of me Geete? You’re pulling my leg, right? You’re a mid-level monster. You’re stronger than humans. You’re faster than humans. Yet you’re afraid of me? Why? I haven’t done anything yet, have I?”

It was just one punch. That’s all. And yet for some reason, every one of the monster platoon was frozen in fear. It was as if they had encountered a supernatural disaster or a demon lord.

“Hey, hey. I’m only alive because of Lumia’s magic, it’s not like I’m immortal, okay? I’m just a normal little girl okay? If you cut me down with a sword I’d die. If you shoot me with an arrow I’d die. You could even beat me to death. There’s no need to be afraid. Let’s continue, shall we?”

Asura took a step forward, but Geete still didn’t move. “It doesn’t have anything to do with magic,” Lumia said. “Asura. Even I, am sometimes afraid of you.”

“…But I haven’t done anything yet…?” Asura let out a sigh as if she didn’t understand. “Well, there goes my excitement.” Her mood which was on cloud nine a moment ago, suddenly dropped. But. That doesn’t matter. This was just training after all. If this was a serious battle, she would’ve used [Flashbang] first. And with the enemy blinded by the light, she would quickly slit their throats. If the blade couldn’t go through Geete’s hide she could just use all seven [mines] and blow his head off.

“Lumia, switch places with me. I’ll guard the boy. you take point and kill them. Make sure to kill the monster. Killing them gets us a bonus this time.” They were given 10,000 Dora as an advance payment. The reward for completion is 50,000 per monster; if they hunt down all four, they’ll get 210,000 Doras in total.

“…I can’t kill that monster with my current equipment.”

“Stop with the jokes Lumia. Use your offensive spell. The one you hate so much.” Normally, the attack magic of any attribute is not that strong. However, Lumia’s magic is special. It’s a unique spell that specializes in an ultimate attack with no equal. No, it is better to describe it as a war spell.

The support spell [Overcoat], the creation spell [Flashbang], and recovery magic. she has everything you would need for a battle.

“A-Attack, Geete! Kill her! That brat isn’t glowing anymore!” The enemy commander shouted. The effect of Lumia’s [Overcoat] wore off.

“Lumia. If you won’t listen to my orders, then get out of my group. that was our promise, right? You’ll listen to my orders during missions. In return, if I cross that vague line you keep talking about, you’ll kill me without mercy. Of course, I won’t be going down without a fight.”

Geete hesitated, but when the commander yelled “Do it Geete!” he barked.

“Well, Lumia. The enemy is coming to kill us even though they’re scared out of their minds. So what are you going to do, Lumia?” Geete was rushing toward Asura. Lumia had a pained look on her face. But. “…[Divine Punishment]” The moment Lumia said this, Geete was turned into eight pieces of flesh. The one who did this was an angel. A beautiful angel with a great sword has turned the whole area into a sea of blood. She had pure white wings and white skin. Her pale blond hair was covered with a halo of light.

“I knew you would use it, Lumia. You’re really not so different than me, aren’t you? You might pretend that you’re a saint. But that’s just an act. Now they’ve seen that spell you have no choice but to kill them all. Because you don’t want people to know about your beautifully disgusting true identity.” Lumia has always been tainted. When she first met Asura, she had already been tainted. “It looks to me like you have a strong sense of guilt, but why don’t you forget about the past and stay with me in the present.” Asura continued. “Let’s play the game of war just like you did before.” She has never seen it. Asura didn’t know about Lumia’s past. She only heard stories about it. But when she saw how Lumia fights she realized. That they’re cut from the same cloth.

“That magic…” The enemy commander said. “The angel of death…[Divine Punishment]… No way. You…That’s…The mass murd…” Before he could finish, the angel cut through the commander. She then cut down the remaining three as well. With a gentle expression, the angel vanished into thin air.

“I’ll never go back to being like that.” Lumia said calmly. “And Asura, neither will…”

“Try saying this without the casual murder.” Asura interrupted. “Send the signal.” Lumia pulled one of her arrows and nocked her bow. Then she shot it towards the sky. The arrow flew while making a loud sound. The arrow was a special type called a whistling arrow, she used it to signal that they defeated one of the monsters.

“I just hope that one day. You’ll go back to who you truly are.” Asura said in a low voice so that Lumia couldn’t hear her.
