Mistaken shadi

Chapter 9: pregnant with twins 9

How did Callie end up interacting with Shane?

She had just overheard Shane talking about divorce. What on earth was going on?

She crept closer, trying to eavesdrop on their conversation to find some answers.

Sitting in the car, Callie suddenly felt deflated, like a wilted flower. She was dejected and downcast.

This was the hardest decision she had ever faced.

If she left, she would be breaking her promise to Old Master Robinson. Without his help, her mother might not have been able to get the surgery she needed. She owed him a debt of gratitude.

Leaving now would make her seem ungrateful. She was deeply troubled.

"You..." She suddenly lifted her gaze. "You were so eager to divorce me. Now that I'm willing, why are you hesitating? Don't tell me you've fallen for me?"

Shane's expression froze for a moment before he let out a cold laugh. "I'm not divorcing you because I want to keep you around and make you suffer! Fall for you? Keep dreaming!"

Callie bit her lip. This man was truly vicious! He would go to any lengths to torment her, even using his own marriage as a tool. His cruelty ran bone-deep!

Sure enough, the next second, Shane reverted to his true self.

"Get off!"

Callie thought to herself, I don't want to ride in your car anyway!

She quickly got out, but her twisted ankle hurt so much that she lost her balance and fell into Shane's arms. Her soft curves pressed against his chest, and he could clearly feel the warmth there. His nerves tensed up, and he sneered, "Callie, you never miss a chance to seduce me, do you?"

Callie's face turned red with anger. It was clearly him who had behaved like a beast just now!

Absolutely shameless!

She decided not to argue with him!

Unable to stand steadily in her high heels, she simply took them off!

She walked barefoot.

Shane glanced at her. This woman was slender, even her feet were delicate and fair. His expression darkened slightly.

As he drove away, he intentionally sped up, zooming past Callie.

A gust of wind lifted her skirt, and she pressed it down with her hand, glaring at the receding car, thinking, Childish!

"Callie!" A female voice called out from behind her!

Callie turned around and saw Belinda standing not far away, her eyes filled with hatred, her features twisted with rage.

When Belinda realized that Callie and Shane were married, she was nearly driven mad with anger!

She had invited Shane to the farewell party earlier and had deliberately acted close to him.

But Callie had pretended not to know Shane. Was she making a fool out of her?

Belinda felt like she had been played for a fool.

What did all her previous boasting mean in Callie's eyes?

And she couldn't understand how Callie could have married Shane.

What did she have?

Besides a decent face, her figure wasn't particularly curvy, and she lacked charm. What was there to like about her?

She must have used some kind of trick!

Callie was surprised to see Belinda here, but quickly realized that she must have been dining at the same restaurant and saw her with Shane.

"You misunderstood..."

Before she could finish her sentence, Belinda lunged at her in a frenzy. Her movements were so swift that Callie didn't even have time to react!

Belinda slapped her hard across the face.

Callie's cheek instantly burned with pain!

Her hair was a mess!

Belinda, like a madwoman, tore at Callie, hitting and cursing, "You wretched woman!"

Callie was stunned for a few seconds but quickly regained her composure and shoved Belinda away without hesitation!

In the scuffle, the heel of Callie's high heel accidentally scratched Belinda's face, leaving a red mark!

"You dare fight back?!" Belinda's eyes widened with rage, and she was about to strike again when Callie warned, "Touch me again, and I'll call the police."

Belinda hesitated, her raised hand frozen in mid-air.

The news of Shane and Callie's marriage hadn't been made public.

Did that mean Shane didn't really like her?

She steadied her emotions; now was not the time to panic.

Shane had promised her marriage.

Could Shane divorce her at any time?

Thinking about this, she finally calmed down a bit.

The last time she asked Shane for money, it had already left a bad impression on him. If she were to hurt Callie now, what would Shane think of her?

Since their marriage wasn't made public, it was clear they didn't want anyone to know.

She still had a chance.

After all, she and Shane had a "destined connection."

"Callie, I'm telling you, don't even think about taking Shane away from me. He's mine!" she screamed almost hysterically.

Even though she understood it in her mind, she couldn't accept the fact that Callie was already married to Shane.

The position of Mrs. Robinson should have been hers!

Callie looked at her with calm eyes, watching her go crazy. She had never intended to fight for Shane with her.

However, this was a side of Belinda she had never seen before.

She looked just like a common shrew!

So, this was Shane's taste? "You just wait!"

Belinda shot a fierce glare at Callie, spat out her threat, and then turned and walked away.

Callie stood there, dazed for a moment.

Henry, having just finished discussing investments with Harrison, came out and saw Callie standing at the door. He looked around but didn't see Shane, so he walked over and asked, "Where's President Robinson?"

Callie brushed her hair to cover her face. "He's gone."

Henry still noticed the finger marks on her face, and his heart sank. Did Shane slap her?

Having worked closely with Shane, Henry knew he was cold and distant, but he never thought he would actually hit a woman.

"Um..." Henry hesitated before speaking. "I think, whatever you do, you should consider your status. Even though your relationship with President Robinson isn't public, you still hold that position. If Harrison knew you were President Robinson's wife, what would he think of President Robinson?"

Callie looked up at Henry. She wanted to say that if Shane hadn't pushed her to the brink, she wouldn't have ended up becoming a dance teacher.

If she hadn't become a dance teacher, she would never have met Principal Lopez and her husband.

And today, she wouldn't be here!

The one to blame was Shane!

She held back her frustration and said, "I'll be careful."

After a pause, she asked, "Will Shane agree to invest?"

"He will," Henry explained, "President Robinson has always been interested in investing in Harrison."

Callie felt a wave of relief wash over her, realizing that today wasn't entirely bad.

She felt much better.

"I understand, thank you," she said, and then walked to the roadside to hail a cab.

Seeing that she didn't go back to find Harrison, Henry decided to leave on his own.

This area wasn't the best for catching a cab.

After waiting for a long time without any taxis in sight, she pulled out her phone to check the time.

Just then, a car pulled up beside her. "I'll give you a ride."

Callie looked up and saw the person inside the car.

Her eyes widened in surprise. It was him?!

She instinctively took a step back.

Kane gave her a once-over, despite her disheveled appearance, he couldn't deny her beauty.

The red dress she wore outlined her allure.

His gaze darkened involuntarily, but remembering how she had hurt him multiple times, he only wanted to catch her and settle the score.

He stepped out of the car, "Seems like we have quite the connection, don't we?"

Callie turned and bolted, but with his previous experiences, Kane was quick to block her path, "Where do you think you're going?"

Callie's face turned pale with fear. She knew all too well what kind of man he was.

"Callie, right? Did you grow up eating ginseng or something? Do you have any idea how much my nose bled after you hit me?" Kane had never been 'bullied' like this before!

She was the first!

As he spoke, he advanced step by step.

Callie, barefoot and holding her high heels, kept retreating.

Her eyes were filled with caution as she watched him.

Henry, who had returned, saw this scene just in time. He quickly got out of the car and stepped between Callie and Kane, "President Ortiz, have you had too much to drink?"

Kane noticed Henry raising an eyebrow. "You're the one who's drunk."

"Did you forget what President Robinson said?" Henry reminded him deliberately, knowing exactly what Kane was up to.

Kane's eyes flickered for a moment before he chuckled. "I haven't forgotten."

He didn't confront Henry head-on; after all, the person wasn't going to escape!

Turning around, he walked towards his car, glancing back at Callie.

Callie shrank back, reaching out towards Henry for protection.

"I'll take you home," Henry said.

Callie followed him to the car. Once inside, she asked, "Didn't you leave?"

Henry had said he left.

Halfway through, he received a call from Shane Robinson, asking him to bring Callie back. That's why he had returned.

Callie thought he had come back for something important and didn't press further, sitting quietly in the car.

Henry couldn't help but glance at her face again. "Did President Robinson hit you?"

He just couldn't resist his gossipy nature!

Whether it was Belinda or Shane who hit her, it was all the same to her.

She bent down to rub her ankle. "Almost there."

Henry kept his eyes straight ahead, not daring to glance sideways.

Soon, the car arrived at the villa, and Callie got out.

When she entered the house, Mrs. Ford asked if she had eaten. Callie replied that she had, and then she went upstairs.

She opened her laptop.

Ding ding.

The computer chimed with a notification.

Her previous application had been approved, and she was now an online medical consultant.

The pay was based on the time spent online and the number of questions answered.

It wasn't a career she could rely on long-term, but it was a good side job.

For now, it was at least somewhat related to her medical background.

She went to grab some clothes, planning to take a shower and change out of her current outfit.

Just as she was about to leave, another notification sounded.

This time, it was a consultation request.

However, whether due to a mistake in her profile or a system error, the inquiry was from a male patient.

The question was about a male issue: "Why can't I get it up?"

As a doctor, there was no distinction between male and female patients, but there were different fields of expertise.

She wasn't particularly skilled in Andrology, but since this was her first patient, she answered with patience.

"May I ask, are you married? How old are you?"

"No. I'm twenty."

"At what age did you start engaging in that kind of activity?"

"Sixteen years old, using my hand. I've been doing it for four years now. When I had my first girlfriend, I couldn't perform. *crying emoji*"

"Please don't panic or worry too much. This might be due to overuse. Try to avoid such activities for a while, strengthen your body, and maintain a regular lifestyle. It should improve over time."

"I don't want to go to the hospital, that's why I'm asking online... Can I take some supplements to strengthen my body? Do you have any recommendations?"

Callie stared at her computer screen, frowning deeply.

"I have, but taking medication is like borrowing from your body's future. I don't recommend it. If you don't overdo it, you should return to normal."

The patient asked again, "I saw your profile, you're a female doctor. Can I ask, how long do women expect men to last to be satisfied?"

Callie replied, "The longer, the better?"

"Okay, thank you."

Callie sent a "You're welcome" message, then stood up to grab her clothes and headed for a shower.

Soon, the sound of running water filled the bathroom, masking the sound of the door opening.

Shane Robinson walked in, glancing towards the bathroom. His mind flashed back to the day her towel had slipped off...

Her body...

His imagination filled in the blanks, picturing her standing naked under the shower-head. His brows furrowed deeply, a look of intense frustration crossing his face. Was he losing his mind?

Why did he keep having thoughts about her?

He turned to leave, but just then, a notification sound came from the laptop Callie had left on the sofa.

Curious about what was on the computer, he glanced back and walked over to take a look.

Callie hadn't closed the chat window before she left.

The same patient had sent another message: "Do you think watching adult films can help with my male performance issues?"

Shane squinted his eyes. What kind of message was this?

He reached out and scrolled through the previous chat history with the mouse.

The more he read, the deeper his frown became.

That woman was discussing such intimate matters with men online?

Another message popped up: "Are you married? Is your husband satisfied? How long does he last? Are you happy with your sex life?"

Shane stared at the messages, his eye twitching in irritation.

Callie walked out wearing her pajamas. Her sleepwear was conservative, with long sleeves top and pants, revealing only her delicate neck. She was drying her hair and didn't seem surprised to see Shane in the room.

After all, this was his place, and if he wanted to come and go, there was nothing she could do about it.

"Even though this is your house, it's not very polite to snoop through other people's things without permission, is it?" she said, her tone calm but firm.

She walked over and closed the laptop with a snap. "Peeking into someone else's privacy is hardly the act of a gentleman."

Shane looked up, his expression stern. "Callie, you're married now. You should act like it. What kind of nonsense are you spouting?"

The thought of her discussing such matters with another man, as if she were being unfaithful, was something he couldn't accept.

"Haven't you already seen it?" Callie ignored his anger, knowing that this man was always angry about something. Her gaze was cool, with a hint of mockery. "Do you have any issues you need consulting on? I can give you answers right here."

Shane's face turned icy cold in an instant. Was she questioning his abilities as a man?

"Callie Norris!"

She hugged the laptop and bolted.

Having dealt with Shane before, she knew that as long as she ran fast enough, he couldn't do anything to her.

Shane watched the woman run away at lightning speed, feeling both exasperated and amused. Did she really just run off?

Suddenly, his phone buzzed.

He pulled out his phone and heard Henry's voice on the other end.

Belinda wanted to see him. Shane immediately said, "No."

Henry hesitated for a moment. "She seems to have an urgent matter..."

"What could she possibly want?" Shane remained firm.

However, remembering that she had once saved his life, he decided to show some leniency.

"She said she has a good friend named Callie who is currently out of work. She wants her friend to join her and intern at the Second Military District General Hospital. She's asking if you could do her this one favor."

Over there, Henry didn't show any sign of recognizing Callie Norris in front of Belinda and relayed the message word for word.

Shane's expression showed signs of softening.

Belinda pleading on behalf of Callie was somewhat surprising to him.

"I'll take care of it," Shane agreed.

His swift agreement wasn't because of Belinda.

He didn't want Callie to be out in public, dressed provocatively, and doing hostess work because she doesn't have a job, nor did he want her chatting about those kinds of things with men online!

Even now, the thought of her discussing such matters with another man was something he couldn't accept!

Henry said, "I understand," and hung up the phone, relaying Shane's exact words to Belinda.

However, Belinda wasn't particularly happy at that moment, as Shane hadn't agreed to meet her.

The next day.

Callie arrived at the dance studio, and Principal Lopez took her hand, thanking her profusely. "President Robinson agreed to invest! Thank you so much. Um, when he took you away, he didn't... do anything to you, did he?"

Callie shook her head and said, "No."

Just then, her phone rang from her pocket. It was Belinda calling.

She hesitated for a moment before answering, "Callie, I'm sorry about yesterday. I acted impulsively. Please don't be mad. I've already spoken to Shane on your behalf. You can start your internship at the Second Military District General Hospital. Consider it my apology. Be there at 9 am."

Callie frowned. This didn't quite match Belinda's usual behavior.

However, she didn't want to miss the opportunity. "Got it," she replied.

She went to Principal Lopez to resign. Principal Lopez was very understanding and even handed her some money. "This is your salary."

It was two stacks totaling about $2,000.

She hadn't worked long enough to earn that much, so she took only a few bills, what she felt she deserved, and left the rest.

Principal Lopez could tell she was a good person. "If you ever face any difficulties, feel free to come to me. I'll help however I can."

"Thank you," she said sincerely.

Callie left the dance studio and headed straight to the Hospital, arriving just in time for her 9 am appointment. Belinda took her to meet the chief.

The chief was a doctor in his fifties. He asked Callie to follow Belinda, since Belinda had been there a few more days.

Callie agreed.

Of course, Belinda had pulled some strings. She was still an intern and technically not qualified to mentor anyone. But she had used her relationship with Shane Robinson to her advantage.

Riding on someone else's coattails.

As Belinda took her to get her uniform, she casually asked, "So, when did you and Shane get married?"

Callie knew Belinda wasn't being kind-hearted. Sure enough, her true intentions showed quickly.

With a smile, Callie replied, "That's not something I can share."

Belinda's smile was forced as she said, "It's okay. Shane already explained to me that you two aren't together because you like each other."

Callie's expression remained calm.

But her mind was racing.

Shane and Belinda really did have a close relationship.

Seeing Callie's lack of reaction, Belinda knew she had made the right gamble.

They weren't a normal couple. If they were, wouldn't the wife get angry and question her husband if she knew he had another woman outside?

But Callie seemed indifferent.

After picking up her clothes, Callie felt nauseous. "I need to go to the restroom," she said, brushing past Belinda.

Something felt off.

Her period had been late for too long.

Despite thinking it was impossible, she went to the pharmacy and got a pregnancy test.

Two red lines.

She was completely stunned.

She had taken birth control pills, so how could she be pregnant?

Although she remembered that after Shane saw the second pill, she had put it in her bag and later forgotten about it.

Even with just one pill, the effectiveness should be over eighty percent, and she had only been with that man once.

Sitting on the toilet, her thoughts drifted.

What should she do?

She still couldn't believe she was pregnant, so she composed herself and went for an ultrasound.

She thought maybe there had been a mistake.

But the result showed she was nearly two months pregnant.

"Congratulations, you're having twins."

Callie was completely dumbfounded. She was really pregnant, and with twins?

"Doctor, are you sure there's no mistake?" Her voice was hoarse.

"No mistake, you are indeed pregnant with twins. How could there be a mistake? Look for yourself, you can see two gestational sacs." The doctor moved the mouse, showing her the screen.

Callie leaned in closer, confirming that there were indeed two gestational sacs.

Her heart was a whirlwind of emotions, a mix of joy and anxiety.

"However, you don't seem to be in the best condition. Being pregnant means you need to rest more," the doctor advised.

Callie nodded, "I understand."

She took the examination report and left the room.

Belinda, who was waiting outside the ultrasound room, went in next. Through the doctor, she learned that Callie was pregnant with twins.

Her teeth clenched in anger, she was furious enough to want to strangle Callie!

If Shane found out that Callie was carrying his children, would she still have a chance with him?

The odds didn't look good.

Feigning nonchalance, Belinda approached Callie with a smile. "You're new to the hospital, so you'll be on the night shift with me today."

Callie nodded in agreement.

In the afternoon, there was a surgery scheduled. The attending physician, who was their supervisor, would be performing the operation. Both Callie and Belinda had to prepare for the pre-surgery tasks and observe the procedure. No matter what hospitals they had worked at before, this was a necessary step to become an attending physician here.

Callie diligently focused on learning and carefully prepared for the surgery.

Belinda, however, couldn't concentrate at all, her eyes kept darting towards Callie's belly.

Callie, deeply engrossed in her work, momentarily forgot about the worries of her pregnancy.

After working tirelessly for half a day, Callie was exhausted, knowing she still had to cover the night shift.

She drank a glass of water, but her consciousness began to diminish. Eventually, she blacked out completely...

"Callie, Callie..."

In a haze, Callie heard someone calling her name. She slowly opened her eyes, feeling pain all over her body, and frowned deeply.

"Where am I?" The surroundings seemed strange.

"You're in my car," Gabriel replied.

Callie clutched her belly as she sat up, glancing around. "How did I end up in your car?"

She remembered being on duty.

"I found you lying in the underground parking lot. I had forgotten something at the hospital and came back to get it. That's when I saw you. What were you doing at the hospital?" Gabriel initially thought he was mistaken, but upon closer inspection, it was indeed her.

Callie responded, "I got a chance to intern at the hospital."

"Shane forgave you?" Gabriel blinked, full of surprise.

Callie thought of Belinda and quickly realized why she was in the parking lot.

She had drunk a glass of water that Belinda had handed her.

Both of them were doctors, well-versed in the use of medication.

That's why she hadn't noticed anything unusual in the water.

After Belinda had drugged her, what had she done to her?

Feeling a sharp pain in her abdomen, Callie hastily lifted her shirt to check her body.

There was a needle mark on her stomach.

Her eyes widened in shock.

Did Belinda know she was pregnant? Had she drugged her to perform a genetic testing?

"Callie, what are you doing?!"

Shane had rushed over the moment he received Gabriel's call.

And now, he saw this woman lifting her shirt in front of another man, exposing her pale, slender waist.

Did she have no shame at all?!

Thankuu ♥️❤️‍🔥❤️so much all of you ♥️🧿🪬
