Chapter 12: YOU FUCKED ME
~~~~~
Walking into his room, taking off his mask and straightening his hair, Ken immediately dropped his body onto the bed, feeling its comfort and almost losing consciousness due to its overwhelming embrace.
"You know, when I got you this bed, I didn't think you would laze around this early in the afternoon," said Meg as she stood there reading a newspaper, wearing slim glasses that added to her look of intellect. "Well, that's what you do when the person you bought it for basically made you a millionaire," Ken replied, paying no attention to her figure, as if he had already known she was there.
"So, how much did you make this time?" he asked with disinterest, causing her to look at him with an annoyed glance. Walking to the door, she stopped and then looked at the boy who was falling asleep six feet away from her; her eyes showed a sense of guilt. Sighing and opening the door, she left without saying a word.
"What was that about?" Ken asked himself, half-awake, as a baby crow, hidden on the wardrobe, began chirping as if trying to respond to his questions.
Although Meg had made lots of millions off Ken's fighting, Ken made almost nothing. The rules of the gauntlet were still the same; even if you were a strong fighter or someone considered valuable, it had been more than seven months since he arrived.
While Ken didn't make any money, he had gained something he deemed more valuable than anything: power. His Mei Mei template was already at 100%, which meant he could now use all of her moves and skills.
This also improved his crows, making them stronger and more agile. He could also infuse his own cursed energy into them, making them three to four times stronger in the process.
Luckily, due to the amount of time he had spent fighting, Ken had gained other templates as well, including what he showed in the arena, where he summoned the ability of Kaichi, a spirit from the [Takuma Ino] template. However, due to its power, it took too much time to increase in percentage; it was basically the last template he got, making him realize that the stronger the template, the harder it is to increase the percentage.
It had taken him close to a month to get it to 8%, which almost didn't make sense. Before he got the [Takuma Ino] template , he had gotten another template he deemed rather convenient; he had gotten the...
Suddenly, before Ken could indulge more in the program of his thoughts, Meg barged inside with a large, visible smile on her lips. "Ken, he's here!" she said, causing Ken to jump in surprise. "Who?" he asked as he fixed himself, straightening his figure to understand her words better.
"I might have forgotten to tell you, but..." she hesitated as her smile weakened with each word, "there's a guy who wants to see you; he says he's interested in meeting, and he will pay me... I mean us, 130 million for a meet," she answered, looking Ken in the eyes, seeing his confusion and holding his left hand in response. "Ken, just a meet," she said as if answering his questions. Ken quickly moved his hands from her palms and looked at her with a shifted expression. "130 million, do you know how much money that is? Huh? Never thought of you as one who falls for scams," Ken chuckled as he turned his body as if preparing to resume his sleep.
"Besides I just need to fight 300 more times, and we..." Ken suddenly stopped; he couldn't believe what he was seeing. Throughout the conversation, Ken had secretly sent his crows to take a look at the person who was looking for him. As soon as he saw the person's face, his heart made a sound he had almost forgotten, its beats speeding up, and its sounds clear as if in isolation.
Ken then turned his gaze to look behind him, seeing Meg, who was a bit confused about his sudden change in tone. "What have you done!" he said loudly but with a soft voice. Then "swoo!" he disappeared and reappeared right in front of Meg's very eyes, holding her neck with the palm of his right hand, infusing cursed energy into it to make it stronger and holding her in place.
"You sold me out!" he continued, his eyes turning red, hair slightly moving due to the mysterious pressure his eyes produced. "You fucked me!" he shouted, causing her to regain focus. His actions were so fast she almost didn't notice what was happening, and now the only thing that made her react was the pain he was currently infusing into her neck. "Ken... wait... wait... please!" she tried to speak but couldn't. Ken, responsible for her now suffering voice, almost didn't want to hear her voice; he didn't want to hear her answer the question he had asked. Loosening his grip slightly, "What did he offer you?" he asked with agency and aggression.
"A qui..." she tried to speak, "a quik... A quirk, he offered me a quirk!" and then immediately, as if crazed, "Kaichi," Ken whispered, and by the hand he was using to grab her neck, from inside of her , forming shape in her vocal cords, growing in size and widening as it destroyed the passage of the epiglottis, a horned arrow was formed, splitting her head from her body as the neck exploded in under a second, the blood splashing through the walls around and on Ken's face, small drops painted, making him seem like a beautiful monster, the blood perfectly resembling the color of his eyes, finally dropping down his face, making lines of death.
Then Ken widened his eyes when he realized that the people he was keeping an eye on were moving. "Shit, does he have a way to track her?" he asked, rethinking if the actions he had just done were a bad mistake. Running through the door, it banged open, Ken began to run through what seemed to be a hallway of the building he was currently residing in.
This was the gauntlet, a place in the underground with no exit except upward. So, Ken started running; through his crows, he could see the shortest of shortcuts. He was currently using 12 crows as a map to gain vision of the surrounding areas, going in the direction those people were not going. Meeting a wall, he knew that the shortest way around it would be tedious, but still, his life was possibly in danger. Using his cursed energy to cover his body, he dashed near the wall and focused his power in his punch, moving it widely back and launching an attack. Black-red energy surged through, changing his aura, making it explosive. "BOOM!" The wall was completely destroyed. Passing through it, he continued his pace, but he could see them ; they were still following him as if they knew where he was going.
Moving his body, he saw the same entrance he once used to enter with, but blocking it was Iron Wall, the same bouncer who let him in, the same person who acknowledged his capabilities, the bodyguard of the now dead, Meg.
