Chapter 5: A Strange Being
It was a quiet day in the city of Musutafu, with adults walking home, young people going to karaoke bars or the cinema, and children running and playing.
It was a very normal day, except for the people with Quirks, who, although few in number, still attracted a lot of attention as they were the heroes of the city.
Although there were officers who simply did the jobs they could handle, the heroes took care of the villains who used their Quirks for evil.
Suddenly, out of nowhere, a gigantic gray creature appeared, with an imposing body reminiscent of a warrior over 3 meters tall, and with that ominous wheel on its head. It had no eyes, but instead had wings, walking with a disturbing calmness down the street.
"Aaaaaah... A monster..." I screamed loudly.
The reaction caused a chain reaction, an uncontrollable panic among normal people. People began to run in all directions, tripping over each other, desperately seeking any refuge. The sound of screams and footsteps was deafening.
"Seriously, I don't know what to expect if that's the normal reaction to seeing me," Alex thought.
"Anyway, I think I should seriously think about my name. Introducing myself as Alex wouldn't cause any excitement, so from now on I'll be Mahoraga," he thought.
No one present understood what he was or where he came from. Was he a villain? An uncontrolled Quirk? A monster? The absence of an immediate explanation fueled the fear even more.
The nearby police officers rushed to the scene to verify whether he was a villain or a mindless monster.
"Identify yourself, who are you?" shouted a police officer, pointing his gun.
"Me. Observe," he said.
It was a distorted whisper, almost inaudible, deep and resonant. Mahoraga had no vocal cords, so when he tried to speak, it produced vibrations in his mouth. Hearing that murmur simply put the three police officers on guard.
"What are you doing here?" said another police officer.
Then, the police officers saw the wheel move and heard a 'CLICK' sound. Seeing that movement, they fired out of fear that it would do something.
They watched as the strange being took the bullets and absorbed them without flinching. At the moment of impact, 'CLIK' sounded as the wheel turned again.
The cop who fired was in shock. His weapon, which is normally effective against threats, was completely useless. Disbelief and fear took hold of him as he watched the creature continue to advance as if nothing had happened.
"Well, that was a little rude of you," he said.
His voice sounded deep and steady, devoid of emotion; it was completely flat but with undeniable authority.
Then Alex felt himself adapting quickly after that first impact, feeling that he now had immunity to any shot or projectile.
"Then I'll return the favor," he said.
Alex generated a shockwave that disarmed and knocked down the police officers. He simply ignored them and continued on his way, demonstrating his superiority.
"By the way, I didn't introduce myself. I am Mahoraga, the Divine Shikigami," he said in a much stronger and more dominant tone.
And he moved on without saying anything else. I wanted to kill him, but I didn't want to, not yet. That simple but effective encounter would alarm the Heroes of a possible threat. The self-proclaimed being who adapts arrived in the city, and he will face and adapt to anything that stands in his way, whether hero or villain.
