Chapter 5: The Sequel Of The Bakugo's
The air hung thick with the unspoken, the kind that only lingered after a day of seismic shifts. Katsuki, the explosive force of U.A.'s hero course, found himself at the familiar lake. The place, etched with memories of childhood clashes and tentative alliances with Izuku, felt oddly grounding tonight. He sat by the water's edge, the gentle lapping a stark contrast to the storm raging within him.
He'd spent the afternoon reeling. The revelation, delivered in a whirlwind of frantic phone calls and bewildered faces, had knocked the wind out of his sails. He had sisters… twin sisters. Mia, the fiery blacksmith with eyes as red as her forge, and Mya, the quiet, gentle doctor with a talent for creating shimmering fireworks. He'd known nothing. Nothing about these two vibrant pieces of his life that had been kept hidden.
He hadn't even registered Izuku approaching until the familiar, hesitant voice broke through his thoughts. "Kacchan? You alright?"
He grunted, initially refusing to acknowledge him. But Izuku, bless his stubborn heart, didn't move. He just sat down beside him, close enough to show concern but far enough not to provoke. Finally, after a long silence, the words tumbled out of Katsuki, raw and unfiltered.
"I have… sisters," he spat out, the words tasting like ash. "Twins. Mia and Mya. I just found out today, the old hag and old man kept it from me all this time."
Izuku's eyes widened, surprise flickering across his freckled face. "Sisters? You have sisters? That's… that's amazing, Kacchan!"
Katsuki scoffed. "Amazing? More like a goddamn mess. I didn't even know they existed. I don't know who they are or why they were hidden from me. The old hag made it seem like they disappeared but Mom actually told me they were kidnapped." His voice tightened, frustration clawing at his throat. "It's like a part of my life has been missing and now they're just… here."
Izuku, surprisingly, didn't recoil at his outburst. He seemed to understand the tangled emotions swirling within Katsuki. He shifted, a soft smile gracing his lips. "I… I kind of understand, Kacchan. I actually met my older brother, Zuko, recently. He's been… away, doing his own thing. I didn't know about him either. It was… strange and overwhelming at first. But," his smile widened, "it's also been really great getting to know him. Maybe it can be the same for you?"
Those words, coming from Izuku, the ever-optimistic soul, offered a fragile sliver of hope. They talked for a long while, the moon rising higher in the sky. Katsuki, surprisingly, found himself opening up more than he had intended, pouring out his confusion and anger to the friend he'd spent years pushing away. Izuku, in turn, shared his own experiences, the awkwardness, the joy, the bittersweet understanding that comes with discovering a missing piece of your past.
Then, just as the first hint of dawn began to paint the horizon, three figures emerged from the trees. Mia was unmistakable; her red eyes seemed to glow in the dim light, and even from a distance, a small shower of sparks danced at her fingertips. Beside her stood Mya, calm and serene, a faint shimmer of light emanating from her hands. Bringing up the rear was a tall, lanky young man with white hair, who could only be Zuko.
An almost palpable tension settled over the clearing.
"Hey, Katsuki," Mia said, her voice surprisingly softer than Katsuki expected. "We heard you were here."
Mya nodded, her blonde hair catching the soft light. "We wanted to talk. To… explain some things."
Zuko stepped forward, a gentle smile on his face. "Izuku told me everything. We figured, it's the best time to talk."
Katsuki, usually so quick to anger, felt a strange mix of apprehension and curiosity. He glanced at Izuku, who offered a reassuring nod. He took a deep breath, the cool morning air filling his lungs. "Fine," he growled, his voice lower than usual. "Let's talk."
The six of them settled on the grass, the early morning mist swirling around them. They spoke for hours. Mia and Mya shared their side of the story, why they left, why they kept their distance, wanting to provide Katsuki with a life unburdened by their past actions. Mya explained her work as a doctor, saving lives, and her gentle, quiet nature, completely different from his explosive personality. Mia, with her fiery spirit, described the passion she found in her craft, shaping metal with the very sparks that mirrored her own intensity.
Zuko, with his easygoing nature, helped bridge gaps, sharing his experiences and offering a different perspective. Katsuki listened, really listened, for the first time. He saw the pain in their eyes, the regret, and also the genuine hope that they could finally build a relationship.
He learned about Mya's gentle quirk, her ability to create breathtaking bursts of fireworks, and Mia's explosive power with her sparks. He saw the connection between their abilities, how one was the calm and the other was the fire, much like their personalities. It was all overwhelming, but also… there was a warmth that bloomed in his chest, something unfamiliar but not entirely unpleasant.
As the sun climbed higher, the group found themselves laughing, sharing stories and jokes. Katsuki, the ever-unpredictable, even cracked a few smiles. The lake, once a place of solitude and bottled-up anger, now felt like a haven, a place where they could finally begin to understand one another. The storm within Katsuki had calmed, replaced by a fragile hope for a future where he wasn't alone, where he had sisters and a chance to be a family. It would be a long journey, a bumpy one, no doubt, but as he looked at Mia, Mya, and even Zuko, he knew they were in it together. For the first time, he truly didn't feel so alone.
