Chapter 10: Chapter 9
Velzarion returned home after dealing with Babyl. On purpose, he took a car from the door of Babylon and drove while listening to some music.
—The musical genres of Earth are always better than those of the Cardinal World—he said while humming a song.
In the Cardinal World, there was very good music, but it wasn't to his taste. He preferred the ones from Earth; he generally liked instrumentals of what they called "violin" and "piano."
Five minutes later, he arrived home, got out of the car with the dinner groceries, and opened the door. "Morgana! I'm back!" he shouted as he entered.
He went straight to the kitchen and put the things down. It struck him as strange that no one replied, so he walked through the house, knocking on Morgana's bedroom door. Nothing.
Noticing something strange, he expanded his consciousness throughout the house, including the isolated dimensions within it, and found nothing.
"They should have returned by now; something happened." He called out to Morgana through their connection.
—Ma…master… Milim…ugh!— He barely finished hearing what she said before he teleported to the sky.
He expanded his consciousness over two hundred kilometers and found Morgana unconscious in a forest.
A second later, he appeared beside her and analyzed her body. He found that she had red veins pulsing all over her body, her magic reserves were empty, and her core was being corrupted by some virus.
He narrowed his eyes at the work of that virus, and a green sphere of energy manifested in his hand. He sent it to the center of her core. After a few seconds, the sphere integrated with the core and began to purify it.
After ten seconds, the corruption attacking Morgana's core began to recede, while the red veins in her body disappeared.
With that, her pale complexion became healthier, and the wounds and cuts healed as if they had never existed. Immediately afterward, penetrating purple eyes opened to the world.
—Master… I'm sorry—was the first thing she said, sitting up while kneeling.
He was about to speak when he noticed a drop fall onto the reddish grass. Approaching Morgana, he took her chin to see her face.
She had red eyes, with tears accumulating in them. "Why are you crying?"
He saw her dry her eyes at his question, and still kneeling, looking directly into his eyes, she told him everything that had happened.
He said nothing after learning the circumstances; in fact, he was so worried about Morgana that he didn't notice the semi-translucent dome in the sky or the mountains of corpses.
He waved his hand, and the bodies vanished into smoke, leaving only their souls. He read each one and sent them into the cycle of reincarnation.
Looking back at Morgana, who remained kneeling, he sighed and stood up; there was no sense in being angry with her; he wasn't to blame.
—Get up; your self-imposed accusations are not valid—he said while surveying the forest.
—At the end of the day, it is part of the destiny that such a thing would happen—he finished.
He felt as if his brother's attitude of being merely an observer had been inherited by him. Putting those thoughts aside, he walked through the forest, leaving Morgana behind.
After walking for a few minutes, he reached a clearing where a dragon over three hundred meters long lay. Morgana reached his side and whispered softly. "I used the last of my magic reserves to move Gaia to a quieter place."
He stared fixedly at Gaia; words wouldn't leave his mouth. He could only see her, rotting on the grass that fed on her body.
He slowly approached her until he reached her, ran his hand over her snout, and felt her spilled blood on his hands.
A purple sphere appeared in his other hand; it was the soul of the general of that elven army, the one who had used the spell that opened her chest and vaporized her wing.
His voice, little more than a whisper, resonated in the clearing. "That desire of man to possess something beyond his capacity… very well, if it is your desire to possess eternal life, I will grant you eternal life."
Despite everything, he didn't hate the man; it was in the nature of sentient beings to be this way; it was the natural order. But every action has a consequence.
"Eternity will be your condemnation. You will be reborn over and over, in every conceivable race, to witness the agony of your loved ones. You will be aware of every life, and no matter how high you rise, death will always catch up to you."
Following his words, black chains emerged from the void, wrapping around the soul, sealing its fate and sending it into the cycle of reincarnation.
He turned his gaze back to Gaia, healed her wounds, and called upon the voice of the world.
{Confirmed. Awaiting request.}
—Return Gaia's soul to me; take my skill Brahma as a sacrifice—he said in a tired voice. Several seconds passed, and the voice of the world spoke again.
{Confirmed. Request granted.}
{Sacrificing ultimate skill [God of Creation, Brahma]... successful.
Initiating transportation of the soul of the individual Gaia… successful.}
He felt a tug when his skill Brahma was taken, but it was insignificant compared to Gaia's soul.
After a few seconds, Gaia's body shrank to 25 cm. He took the small sleeping body and smiled as he returned to Morgana.
That woman had teary eyes and snatched Gaia from his hands before he could react, cradling her and kissing her while soaking the unconscious Gaia with tears.
He smiled at the sight when he felt a slight tremor. Signaling to Morgana, she shook her head.
He extended his consciousness and noticed nothing unusual; it trembled again. He expanded it throughout the world and then felt a fight.
It was Milim fighting against a red-haired opponent, and it was her blows that shook the world.
—I will bring Milim back; take Gaia back home—he told Morgana before disappearing.
