Marvelous Dragon ball

Chapter 20: Phil and May

"Believe what you want, Agent Coulson. I'm busy, I don't have time for this." Rex calmly said.

Phil smiled, unfazed. "Mr. Lee, do you know anything about 'Aliens' or 'Mutants'?"

"I know about mutants." Rex felt he had to lie: "I haven't heard of aliens existing."

Phil nodded. "To put it simply, aliens are extra-terrestrials, and Mutants are humans with superpowers caused by genetic mutations. When either is found, they're assessed for danger, and then might be arrested, imprisoned, monitored, or whatever's needed to keep people safe."

"So, you think I'm a mutant?" Rex sneered.

"Or an alien," Phil added. "Mr. Lee, prove to me that your 'Kung Fu' is capable of what I described. Otherwise, you'll be coming with us."

"Us? You're not alone?" Rex turned, surprised.

Phil smiled, a hint of threat in his voice. "Sorry I didn't mention it, but there's a team of armed personnel across the street. They won't come in if you cooperate."

"..."

"So, if I prove it's just Kung Fu, you'll leave me alone?"

"Absolutely," Phil nodded. "You protected Joy Meachum in self-defense. You haven't broken any laws. Just prove you're not an Alien or Mutant, and we'll leave you alone."

"Shake my hand."

Phil looked at Rex's outstretched hand. "What do you mean?"

"I said I used Kung Fu, which uses Ki. You're not from the East, so you wouldn't understand. The fastest way is to feel it. I'll use Ki transfer to let you feel my Ki through touch."

Phil hesitated, then reluctantly extended his hand. As their hands touched, he gasped, "SHIT!"

He pulled back his hand, as if shocked, and stared at his fingers. "This... this..."

"That's Ki. You were sweaty, though." Rex wiped his hand. "Don't worry. It's normal. You're using a new sense, Ki Sense."

Phil recovered. "Mr. Lee, I'd like to bring a colleague over."

"What if I do mind?"

Phil ignored Rex and called out, "May, come in!"

A woman in a black combat uniform walked in. She wasn't young, but still beautiful. Her figure was athletic, with a graceful mix of strength and femininity.

Semi-automatic pistols were strapped to her thighs. Her eyes were sharp, her gaze cold and proud.

Rex knew instantly who she was. Melinda May, a top SHIELD agent, soldier, spy, fighter, and driver. She'd been Coulson's partner for years.

Rex laughed, pointing at Melinda. "Agent Coulson, if I'm not mistaken, this is your heavily armed team waiting outside?"

Phil ignored Rex's question. "Mr. Lee, this is Special Agent May. She's Chinese, like you, and knows Kung Fu. Please explain Ki to her."

Rex looked at Melinda. "What do you practice? Wing Chun? Baji Quan?"

Melinda was surprised. He'd guessed her fighting styles in just a few steps. "Good eye," she replied in Mandarin.

Rex had a good eye, thanks to all the shows he'd watched. He extended his hand. "Ki is like energy. Everyone has it, but some have more than others. Martial arts use Ki to push past limits. Understand?"

"You're talking about 'Neigong,' internal strength. It's just a legend. It doesn't exist."

"Nope, you just don't know about it."

Rex extended his hand. "Give me your hand."

She did as Phil had, touching Rex's hand and staring at her fingers. "This... this..."

Phil was confused. "What are you saying?"

"Coulson..."

Melinda recovered. "I'm not sure, but what he said sounds true. This feeling matches those old stories about internal energy. I can't explain it any other way."

"Alright," Coulson nodded. "We'll take your word for now. But we need a blood sample. We need proof."

"Blood sample? After all this?"
