Marvel: The Sorcerer in America

Chapter 10: Chapter 10: Shield of the Seraphim!

"Eternal Being, Vishanti, protect your followers—Shield of the Seraphim!"

Uh-hah!

The sound of the incantation was light and quick, as if lighting a lamp in the darkness.

Suddenly, a golden energy shield appeared around Nancy and Sidney.

The monster crashed into the energy shield and was immediately bounced back dozens of meters before hitting the ground hard, causing the already chaotic factory building to become even more disordered.

Nancy and Sidney looked around with blank expressions. Moonlight streamed through the holes in the ceiling. They were surrounded by piles of gravel and sawdust, and dust danced in the golden light.

Just when they were both confused, a figure stepped through the ceiling, falling directly down and greeting them with a smile.

"You two, we meet again." A man stood between Nancy and Sidney.

They both fell silent for a moment, then spoke almost in unison: "… It's you!"

They still had fresh memories of the paranormal who had just predicted their fate.

"Graaah!!!"

The entire factory echoed with the monster's roar. The large body of the monster then leaped from the ground and let out an angry and hollow roar.

However, this large monster seemed to find the new enemy difficult to face, so it only let out an unclear roar and did not rush as it had before.

Lance then pursed his lips. "What a pity, it's just an Epra Demon Bird. That dashed my hopes."

There are many types of monsters hunted by Sorcerers, and this monster was clearly not a high-class one.

High-class items provide more experience, while low-class items provide less experience.

Lance was on the verge of leveling up with just a little experience, but it was clear that it wasn't enough—one person or a small increase alone wouldn't be sufficient to achieve the expected progress.

Lance's disappointment was evident, but his expression quickly changed. His gaze shifted to the darkness nearby, and then Lance chuckled, "Haha, it turns out there's more than one."

The monster that was still roaring was not weak and angry; it was calling for its friends.

This made Lance very happy.

A few more low-level monsters could match a high-level monster.

Sidney, holding back pain, asked, "Psychic medium, what's really happening?"

Lance casually walked towards the two of them, then tapped the golden energy shield with his fingers and said, "Just wait here. Those things can't break this shield... Oh, and this."

Lance's fingers moved quickly in the void, and blue light writing flew out, quickly transforming into a charm that emitted electricity.

"This is a rejuvenation charm that can speed up your recovery from injuries."

Lance snapped his fingers, and the faint blue charm suddenly fell. Before they could react, the charm quickly landed on Sidney's body and vanished in the blink of an eye.

As the healing charm fell, Sidney felt a warm current begin to flow slowly within him, easing the painful wounds.

Sidney scratched his head. "Who are you?"

"Demon hunter, ghost exorcist, Sorcerer, alchemist... it depends on which one you can accept."

Lance moved his neck, then formed a curse sign with his hands and swung it forcefully.

"With the ancient body of Hoggoth and the blazing fire of the heavens, I declare myself a student of dark arts, pursuing my greatest passion: Flames of the Faltine!"

Explosion!

A wave of gold spread rapidly with him as the center of the circle, but a pair of glowing red eyes could be seen in the darkness.

"... Are we falling into a monster's lair?"

Seeing the terrifying creature leap out of the darkness, the two usually brave female detectives couldn't help but gasp, their bodies tensing up.

Their breaths were quickening, still not recovered from the previous chase. One monster had already overwhelmed them—now five more appeared out of nowhere.

Amidst the horror enveloping the two detectives, Lance displayed an expression of complete satisfaction. "Six Ephra demon birds? Hmm... it seems I have enough experience to deal with them now, right?"

Lance's gaze passed over several demon birds and landed on the last creature among them. This creature was half the size of the others, and unlike the glowing red eyes of its companions, this demon bird had cold, sharp blue eyes. "Unfortunately," Lance murmured with a slight smile, "only five of them can be counted as a threat."

Lance turned, giving a brief warning, "Remember, don't drop your protective shields. If you get hurt, I won't take responsibility."

As he spoke, Lance began to move his fingers in front of his face, creating charms that floated one by one, forming a soft yet powerful glowing blue ribbon.

In an instant, Lance was at the center of the light belt, and the charms spun around him, eventually sticking to and enveloping him.

Each charm that attached granted Lance new powers—enhancing attacks, speeding up movements, strengthening defenses, increasing endurance, reducing damage, and bolstering counterattacks. Now, Lance's body was completely wrapped in blue light radiating magical strength.

Lance didn't need to use a demon-repelling charm, as these Ephra birds were not ordinary monsters. They were creatures from another dimension.

"Graah!!"

"Graaah!!"

The demon birds felt threatened, but they did not attack recklessly. Four of them surrounded Lance from the front and back, while the other two flanked him from the left and right, as if accustomed to the tactic of encirclement.

The demon bird that had previously chased the two female detectives was the closest and charged directly at Lance, its monstrous beak wide open, ready to slash at Lance in one strike.

The monster then glared at Lance, opening its terrifyingly large mouth, its sharp white teeth gleaming, ready to tear into its prey. In an instant, the monster lunged forward, attempting to bite Lance.

"Hey, I haven't given the signal to start fighting!" Lance huffed, looking annoyed.

With a swift movement, Lance jumped to the side, spinning on one foot as the center of gravity, and struck the demon bird's ribs with a powerful kick.

The attack caused the demon bird to lose its balance, while Lance used the reaction force to float back, dodging the sharp claws of another demon bird attacking from the opposite direction.
