Chapter 32: Chapter 32: A New Reward — Teleportation Unlocked!
On the outskirts of the Hudson River, inside an abandoned industrial plant, the air was thick with tension.
Adam Morris—gagged, bruised, and barely conscious—was dragged out of the SUV like roadkill. Sean hauled him by the collar and flung him into the center of the warehouse without a shred of ceremony.
Inside, the team moved with practiced efficiency.
One agent fired up the industrial-grade meat grinder. Others began preparing the bone crusher and steel drums. A few closed the main doors, while the rest launched drones to scan the perimeter.
To Dennis and Barbara, the whole scene felt surreal. Watching these agents act in perfect, silent sync—setting up a kill site like it was just another Tuesday—left both of them wide-eyed.
Barbara turned to Alice, eyes narrowed. "What... exactly are you people planning?"
Alice gave her a smile. "You'll find out soon. Just try not to pass out, okay?"
She pressed a finger to her comms, receiving steady updates from the surveillance team.
---
Inside the warehouse.
With a hard kick to the back of the knee, Sean forced Adam Morris to the ground.
As Adam struggled to rise, Sean clamped a heavy hand on his shoulder, pinning him in place.
"FUX—you goddamn dogs!" Adam snarled, eyes locked on Lynn Hall. "You think you can drag me here and intimidate me? I won't tell you a damn thing! I'll never betray—"
BANG!
The gunshot rang out before Adam could finish.
Lynn didn't flinch. The bullet tore through Adam's skull like a meteor, dropping him instantly to the concrete floor.
"Dead men don't talk," Lynn muttered as he calmly holstered his pistol.
Without missing a beat, Sean and the other agents moved to the body, beginning cleanup procedures like it was business as usual.
Lynn opened his system panel.

A flicker of satisfaction crossed Lynn's face.
Teleportation—even at level 1 with a max range of only 100 meters—was an invaluable tool. In the right moment, it could mean a clean escape... or a kill shot no one could see coming.
Unfortunately, he didn't have enough experience points to level both his new supernatural skills. But still—he'd take the win.
He closed the system panel and turned toward the two spectators—Dennis and Barbara—both of whom were staring at him like he'd just shot Santa Claus.
"You weren't expecting me to execute him on the spot?" Lynn asked with a casual smile.
Dennis had already braced himself for something like this, having seen the darker side of his boss during the S.H.I.E.L.D. interrogation. He stayed quiet.
But Barbara frowned, clearly shaken. She looked from the processing team back to Lynn.
"You… killed him just because he was a mutant?"
Her voice was soft but loaded with suspicion.
She didn't want to believe it. Lynn had been kind, respectful—even protective. Could he really have executed Adam just because he was a mutant?
Lynn didn't dodge the question.
"That's part of it," he admitted. "You've heard of the mutant detention center, right?"
Barbara nodded slowly.
"Then you know how often mutants break out of that place. Adam was only a level-two, sure—but teleporters are notoriously hard to contain. And this one had a grudge."
"I don't leave threats alive, Barbara. I'd rather be the guy who eliminates a problem before it becomes one, not the one who has to mourn his team afterward."
He looked her straight in the eyes.
"If someone threatened your father—what would you do?"
Barbara didn't hesitate. "Kill them before they had the chance to hurt him."
She paused, thinking of the flight back from Europe—of the countless times Adam had spat threats at Lynn.
Her posture relaxed.
"Well then, Boss," she said, smirking slightly, "Hypothetically, if someone from the Brotherhood ever threatens my dad… I can kill them on the spot?"
"Absolutely."
Lynn placed a hand on her shoulder. "As long as you call me Boss like the others, I've got your back."
Barbara lit up with a brilliant smile.

[Barbara Kent Favorability: +2 → 6]
Another notification. Another step forward.
Lynn nodded inwardly. Very good.
But then he glanced at Dennis—still stuck at favorability 5.
Barbara joined later, and she already passed you?
Lynn made a mental note: once they got back to FBI HQ, Sean was going to put Dennis through hell in the name of "training." Desk job or not, he'd learn the hard way that earning loyalty meant proving yourself.
"Open the case," Lynn said to Alice.
She did—and inside were dozens of gold bars, each one weighing a full kilogram.
Lynn grabbed two and tossed them casually across the room.
"Rest of you—help yourselves."
A chorus of cheers erupted.
"Boss, you're the best!"
"Boss! Please, let me offer you my daisy!"
"Get outta here—!"
Lynn kicked aside the joking agent who'd tried to slide across the floor with imaginary flowers.
He turned and tossed a bar each to Barbara and Dennis.
"M-Me?" Barbara blinked, holding the heavy gold bar in both hands like it was made of glass. "You're giving this to me?"
She hadn't even officially joined yet. This was… a lot.
"Yup," Lynn said simply.
Barbara's eyes sparkled.
One kilogram of gold. Holy crap—I'm rich now.
