Chapter 22: Chapter 22 : Training on Paradise Island

Wonder Woman agreed with Superman's idea of working with Black Adam, but she also warned him. "Black Adam isn't an easy person to deal with. In his eyes, no one matters except himself and his people. I can help you, but you can't rely on Black Adam for everything."

Even though they had enough power to force Black Adam to cooperate, Wonder Woman knew that Black Adam wasn't a villain. He was the king of a nation. Whether other countries recognized it or not, as long as the people of Kahndaq supported him, Superman wouldn't use force against Black Adam.

"I understand," Superman nodded. He had fought Black Adam before and, with his super-brain, could roughly predict the outcome. But even with a slim hope, he had to try.

More and more people were being rescued, and Gotham and Paradise Island couldn't hold them all. Lex Luthor predicted they would find 10 to 20 million survivors, a number too large for their current shelters.

"I'm just reminding you," Diana said. She then took Clark and flew to Paradise Island, a trip that didn't take long.

The Amazonian warriors were happy to see Diana return, but their expressions changed to surprise when they saw an eight-year-old boy with her. "Diana, I remember... you don't have a boyfriend in the human world."

Diana knew exactly what these women, who had never seen a man, were thinking. She tossed Clark to the Amazonian soldiers in a huff.

"He's a Kryptonian, a Superman from another world. But as you can see, he's too young. I want to train him well. After all, no one knows what the future holds."

"I see. So now we're... preparing a place for him to stay?" The Amazonian warriors didn't care about the details once Diana explained. They caught Clark and asked directly.

"No, just take him to the arena. You can train with him in the future, following your usual routine. Let him live in the arena."

"This..." The Amazonian warrior hesitated but then nodded after seeing Diana's serious expression and Clark's determined face. She led Clark toward the arena. "Boy, even though you're a Kryptonian, you still need to be careful. The Amazons use real swords and weapons in their training."

"I can do it. As long as I can gain the power to protect others, I can do it!" Clark declared. The warrior didn't say much about his determination. Anyone could talk big, but few could stick with it. Even if this child grew up to be the mighty hero Superman, surviving the Amazonian training wouldn't be easy.

Watching Clark being led away, Wonder Woman nodded and walked toward the palace. She wanted to tell her mother, Queen Hippolyta, about the current situation and ask her to open Paradise Island to the survivors. This wouldn't be difficult.

From the moment she agreed to Superman, Wonder Woman knew Queen Hippolyta would never refuse. The world was on the brink of destruction; Paradise Island no longer needed to remain neutral and exclude outsiders for self-protection.

So, she easily agreed. The heroes would then gradually transfer the survivors rescued from all over the world to Paradise Island.

Wonder Woman hadn't forgotten Superman's request and planned to go to the Fortress of Solitude to reunite with him. But first, she decided to check on Clark's performance in the arena.

When she arrived, Clark, who had just watched some Amazonian combat training, stepped into the arena. His opponent was the warrior Wonder Woman had asked to bring him there. The female warrior, holding a shield and sword, stood ready, but she noticed Clark standing by the weapon rack, looking very hesitant.

At first, the warrior thought Clark was scared and didn't dare to enter. But after a moment of hesitation, he took a shield from the rack and walked into the arena.

"You don't have a weapon? Just a shield?" The warrior frowned, confused. But she soon understood his behavior from his words. Clark hesitated, then spoke timidly. "Those weapons are all sharp. I'm worried..."

At this, the warrior laughed, but it was a laugh of anger. "You mean you're worried about hurting me, so you don't plan to use a weapon? Aren't you worried about getting hurt yourself?"

Outside the arena, Wonder Woman shook her head. They truly were alike. Clark's current behavior was exactly like the Superman she knew. This excessive kindness always made people feel annoyed, but also strangely at ease.

Clark held up his shield. "If there's a shield, it should be..."

Before Clark could finish, the warrior attacked without hesitation. While Paradise Island was known as Wonder Woman's home, and ordinary Amazonian warriors seemed vastly inferior to her, that was only in comparison.

Even though Clark was a Kryptonian, he had only recently discovered his powers. In terms of physical fitness, he might truly be no match for these Amazonian warriors.

Clark instinctively raised his shield to block the opponent's sword. The enormous force from the impact made him fall to his knees.

But he wasn't facing an unthinking infected person. The battle-hardened Amazonian warrior wouldn't attack only the shield. Seeing Clark's thin body almost completely hidden under the large shield, she kicked him. He flew dozens of meters and slammed into the inner wall of the arena.

"Ahem..."

Wonder Woman had held back in her previous attack, but this time, the female warrior showed no mercy. She hit Clark directly in the abdomen, causing him to spit out blood. "I heard you were a Superman when you were a kid, but now you're just a weakling.

It's the right of the strong to show mercy. Before you have enough strength, in this arena, you must set aside your kindness. Otherwise, I guarantee you won't survive for more than a week!"

There was a clear hint of menace in the warrior's words. The fights among Amazonian warriors were ruthless, real combat, and serious injuries were common.

However, everyone's strength was roughly similar, and they knew each other well, so no one had died in training. But with Clark, a kind-hearted but annoying individual, the warrior wasn't sure if someone might lose control and kill him. Though he was a Kryptonian, an undeveloped Kryptonian wasn't immune to swords and weapons.

As she spoke, the warrior drew a long sword and threw it in front of Clark. "Now, pick up your weapons and begin formal training."

Just when the warrior thought Clark would see the reality and obediently pick up the weapon after being frightened by her intense aura, she found that Clark didn't even look at the long sword beside him. He stood up with his shield, looking at the warrior with firm eyes.

"I don't want to... hurt anyone again... Even if it's training, I absolutely don't want to hurt anyone!"
