Chapter 66: CHAPTER 66: The Lizard’s Plan

New York Police Department – Conference Room

The air in the room was heavy. The tension was almost palpable.

The meeting room was plunged into an uncomfortable silence until a familiar voice broke the ice—not George Stacy's, but Dr. Curt Connors'.

George, with a stern expression and clenched jaw, just listened. By the end of Connors' testimony, his face had darkened. There was anger there... and fear.

"Dr. Connors... are you sure Peter intends to turn all of humanity into... lizards?"

The scientist nodded without hesitation.

"Judging by his words last night... he no longer sees mutation as a mistake, but as the next step in human evolution." Connors took a deep breath.

"He stole the serum vials. Said he was going to 'evolve' humanity... by force."

The room fell into silence once again. Everyone present was visibly shaken. This went beyond anything they had ever faced. Some had dealt with mafias, others with supervillains... but this?

"Now all that's missing is an alien invasion," someone muttered—a nervous, sarcastic comment trying to lighten the mood. No one laughed.

Still processing the information, George looked seriously at Connors.

"And this technology... does Peter really have a way to spread the serum?"

"Everywhere," Connors replied, his voice heavy with concern.

"Oscorp itself developed the necessary tech. Their nebulizers are installed in hospitals, clinics, and laboratories all across the city. Many in partnership with Oscorp-owned companies..."

George was stunned.

Oscorp had branches in over 60% of New York's hospitals—not to mention affiliates. The Lizard could literally unleash his bioweapon from anywhere.

"But the worst has already happened..." Connors added, his voice trembling.

"He's already stolen one of the nebulizers."

"What?!" George stood up abruptly.

A police officer burst in with a report in hand.

"Dr. Connors is right. A nebulizer was taken from a small medical facility yesterday afternoon. The case was filed last night, and we just managed to connect the dots. It was probably him..."

George clenched his fist and slammed it on the table, his face filled with frustration.

"Dr. Connors... if there's still a sample of the serum, is it possible to create an antidote?"

Connors hesitated. His eyes reflected the look of a defeated man.

"If the sample still existed, maybe. We could try a genetic reversal. But with everything destroyed..."

"You were the one who developed it, right? Just recreate it!" a policeman insisted anxiously.

Connors responded with patience, yet firmly:

"It's not that simple, officer. Even with the original data, it's nearly impossible to recreate a serum like this exactly the same." He looked around the room.

"Remember the Super Soldier Serum?"

The name echoed through the room.

Captain America. A symbol. A legend. A scientific miracle... that was never replicated.

"Even with all the resources and data, the Captain's serum was never reproduced. And mine... it's even more unstable."

A respectful silence followed. Everyone understood.

George took a deep breath, then declared:

"Then we have only one option left: stop Peter... at any cost."

He turned to the room, giving orders with the authority of someone who'd faced New York's worst.

"I want a task force assembled now. Call for SWAT and FBI reinforcements if needed. Get heavy weaponry. We're not underestimating him this time."

"We need to sweep the sewers," someone said.

"If he's hiding down there, we might catch him before he activates the device."

George nodded.

"Find out which companies maintain the sewer systems. If we can neutralize him down there... that's our best shot."

Connors stepped forward, distressed:

"Captain Stacy, take me with you. Maybe... maybe I can still reach Peter. He's not a monster. He was a good kid..."

George stared at him for a few seconds.

"Alright. But you'll stay in the back. If you're captured again, our already bad situation will get even worse."

"That won't happen again," Connors promised.

George nodded, placing a firm hand on his shoulder.

"You did what you could last night. None of us blame you."

Connors tried to thank him but hesitated.

"There's just one thing bothering me... Spider-Woman. She seemed to... know me?"

George had noticed that too.

"Strange, isn't it?" he said.

"Ahh~ It would've been easier if she had helped us with the Lizard..."

"She already knew about his plan. Maybe she was trying to protect something..."

"Leave that for now, Doctor. Go rest. You look exhausted."

Connors sighed and nodded. He knew the time to act was drawing near.

Outside the room, agents moved like pieces on a chessboard.

New York was on high alert.

New York Sewers

In the dark underground, on an improvised platform made of metal scraps, the Lizard adjusted a complex-looking device with his claws.

The machine hissed and powered up.

The serum was carefully removed from the briefcase. It was green, viscous... and deadly.

He inserted it into the stolen device—the nebulizer.

The machine's lights blinked. It worked.

The Lizard's vertical pupils gleamed with animalistic satisfaction.

"HAHAHAHA... SOON... I WILL BE THE GOD OF A NEW HUMANITY!" he roared, his voice echoing through the tunnels.

"I WILL LEAD THE HUMAN RACE TO TRUE EVOLUTION!"

At his feet, torn human clothing, stained with blood and bones, revealed that he was no longer just experimenting... he was feeding.

"HAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!"

The monstrous roar echoed, spreading through the sewer network like the omen of a new era's beginning.
