Principal's Office.

Gwen walked out of the principal's office with Luke and the others, smiling. Massa and the other big oafs had been punished with a written self-reflection assignment.

"What happened in there?"

Peter couldn't help but ask.

Once they had entered the office, the principal had been extremely friendly. After hearing the whole story, he had let them go with just a light verbal warning.

Luke and Harry also looked at Gwen curiously.

Gwen smiled mysteriously, clasped her hands behind her back, and said to the three, "I've told you all many times before!"

"In life, you don't just need loyalty—you need connections too."

"This time, we got out of trouble all thanks to my connections!"

"Amazing!"

Harry was the first to offer praise.

Peter and Luke quickly nodded in agreement. Then, the three of them looked at Loki.

Your turn.

Loki stared at the four of them with a mocking expression and said, "What a bunch of idiots!"

He had already had the situation under control, but these four brats had still rushed in like fools to save him.

Thinking back to how they looked at the time, Loki smirked and added again, "You four are complete idiots."

Just as dumb as that fool Thor.

Loki turned around, the curve of his mouth growing wider, until it formed a happy smile.

Gwen and the others silently watched his retreating figure.

...

One Week Later, at the McCoy Residence.

Standing by the window, McCoy watched as Steve and Bruce stepped out of their homes. Moments later, they were picked up by an invisible Quinjet. McCoy's eyes gleamed slightly.

Nick Fury was finally making his move.

The world was about to be rocked by a storm aimed at wiping out Hydra.

As for Charles…

Charles wouldn't be taking part in this battle.

Though his powers were formidable, his body was frail. It was safer for him to stay at the school. Besides, the children at Xavier's School needed someone to supervise them. So, he and Raven had remained behind.

Still, even without Charles, the X-Men's lineup for this mission was impressive.

Wolverine Logan, White Queen Emma Frost, Cyclops Scott Summers, Beast Hank McCoy, Gambit Remy LeBeau, as well as Jean Grey and Ororo Monroe—both of whom had worked hard to be allowed to participate. Along with them were Pietro and Wanda, who were currently staying at the school while looking for Charles in New York.

Compared to the Avengers' current roster, the X-Men were dominant.

After all, the Avengers only had five members at the moment:

Iron Man Tony Stark, Captain America Steve Rogers, Hulk Bruce Banner, and the recently qualified Black Widow Natasha Romanoff and Hawkeye Clint Barton.

Aside from them were a few assassins: Fox, Cross, and the sharpshooter Wesley, now known as Crosshair.

These assassins had already begun acting even before the mission officially started.

Without alerting Hydra, they had quietly taken out a few of its operatives. Once the main battle began, they would systematically eliminate all remaining targets on their list.

Unlike the X-Men and the Avengers, the assassins would not act in unison.

They were tasked with silent kills, while the X-Men and Avengers would be striking at Hydra's key bases.

The Avengers would handle one base. The X-Men, split into two teams, would strike two others. After these three were taken out, they would move on to new targets.

Meanwhile, Nick Fury would release a verified list of Hydra agents. Alongside Coulson and Maria Hill, he would lead loyal S.H.I.E.L.D. agents in a battle within S.H.I.E.L.D. headquarters to deal a fatal blow to Hydra operatives hiding in plain sight.

Fury had also contacted Erik in advance, informing him of a Hydra base that was experimenting on mutants. That location had been handed over to Erik and his people for destruction.

All operations would commence simultaneously. This was a lightning strike on Hydra.

...

Aboard a Quinjet Bound for Germany

Emma Frost piloted the aircraft, glancing at Logan, who sat beside her, clearly tense. Her alluring lips curved into a charming smile.

"Need some help?"

She knew Logan didn't feel quite right on planes.

It wasn't fear, exactly—just a sense of unease from being so high up in the air and unable to stay in control.

But her powers could help with that.

"No need."

Logan replied firmly, turning to Emma. "Who do you think I am?"

"You're my man."

Emma answered without hesitation.

Logan chuckled and grabbed her hand.

"Hey, hey, uncle and auntie, could you tone it down a bit? You're giving me cavities here!"

Pietro crossed his arms and looked at the two with a helpless expression, rubbing the goosebumps on his arms.

"Pfft!"

Wanda couldn't help but laugh.

Uncle?

Auntie!?

Logan didn't react much, but Emma turned her head slowly, her beautiful eyes emitting a piercing glare. The pressure from her stare instantly froze Pietro like a statue.

Fortunately, he recovered quickly and said in a blur, "Ah, Emma sis, I think you misheard me! What I meant was you're elegant, brilliant, breathtaking—truly a perfect match for Logan. A couple made in heaven!"

He spoke so fast that even Wanda thought he might have used her powers.

Logan blushed from the flattery, but Emma accepted it without issue. She withdrew her "death glare" and turned back to the controls, continuing to fly the plane while chatting sweetly with Logan.

"Whew!"

Pietro wiped his forehead and whispered to Wanda, "She almost killed me."

"You brought that on yourself."

Wanda snorted.

Pietro pouted. "I was just trying to lighten the mood."

Wanda shook her head, laughing.

Still, thanks to Pietro, her nerves had eased up quite a bit.

Noticing her change in mood, Pietro smiled slightly.

Hydra…

They were about to meet again.

Two Hours Later, Near the Mission Site

Their target base was near the German border, close to Luxembourg.

After disembarking the Quinjet, Logan bit down on a cigar and said, "That one-eyed guy said the base is underground. Emma, about the pre-battle recon—"

He grinned and winked at her.

"I'll go!"

Pietro raised his hand with a flattering smile. "How could we let Miss Emma go herself?"

Wanda: _

How had she never realized Pietro was such a bootlicker?

Emma gave Pietro a cool glance. "Go ahead. Don't get spotted. We still need to wait for signals from the others before we act."

Pietro nodded, exchanged a glance with Wanda, then bounced lightly on his feet. In the next instant, he vanished like a breeze.

He left behind two faint footprints.

Logan looked down at them with envy.

This ability…

Really came in handy in certain situations.

He couldn't help but glance over at Emma.

Emma, sensing something, blushed slightly.
