Marvel DxD: The New Sorcerer Supreme

Chapter 27: Ch. 27 - Chronos Requiem

Is it a tradition for all Sorcerer Supremes to possess an artifact that controls the flow of time?

If so, then I fucking love this tradition!

According to God, this Longinus that I have is called Chronos Requiem and just by the name of it, it's pretty much obvious of what it can do.

Time Manipulation. A strong one at that.

Obviously there are downsides and side effects in using it such as overuse can lead to a soul damage, or one mistake can cause the destruction of a timeline.

Now, allow me to break down its abilities to you.

Chronos Requiem gives me several time-related abilities.

First is a passive ability it gives me, I don't what else to call it so I decided to name it Time Sense.

It basically slows down my perception of time, allowing me to see everything around me in slow motion. You might think it is a disadvantage since its a passive ability and you might be thinking I have to watch everything in slow-motion forever.

No. You're quite wrong. Like I said, the name is Time Sense, it is basically like having an upgraded 6th sense.

The second is an active one, I call it Temporal Lock. If someone I can sense whether visually or through my 6th sense, I can immediately impose a lock on them, freezing their time.

To their perspective, nothing happened but to me, they're basically frozen but instead of ice, it's time.

This is an incredible ability as I could just simply make all my opponents stop and escape just in case I don't want to deal with them.

Though the ability sounds overpowered, this however have its downsides obviously.

First, I can't use it on people who are either stronger than me or have abilities and artifacts that can negate Time manipulation.

However, I can do use it on those slightly stronger than me except that it would lock them for only a single second before the lock breaks down by itself.

It might not sound much but when it comes to of life and death, everyone knows how valuable that small little single second is.

Second, it consumes large amounts of energy, or in this case, Demonic Energy.

Perhaps I can use this ability for 5 consecutive times and keeping it up for 30 seconds before passing out due by lack of Demonic Energy. Which is quite understable considering how overpowered this ability is.

The last downside is that can only be casted from a certain range before it would go off.

So let's say I used it on someone and left them frozen in time while distancing myself. Once the distance between me and the casted being reaches a certain meter, the ability will disappear.

Three downsides doesn't sound that bad, right?

The next ability is called Chrono Shift. It basically increases the time of my own body, in other words, increasing my overall speed. I still don't know how fast I would be if I cast it but I'll try to find a place to test it sooner.

Combining this with my Time Sense, I'll technically achieve the ability of Quicksilver where time slows down for him except for himself.

Thankfully, this ability only has one downside and that is, the consumption of my energy. The consumption depends on how much I'll increase the time of myself, the higher the amplification, the more energy it consumes. Simple as that.

The last but not the least ability is also the one I liked the most.

Loop.

Yes, you heard it right, it's kind of similar to the time spell that Doctor Strange did against Dormammu.

What Loop ability does, is to create a certain checkpoint in reality whereas I can spawn as much as my energy can, whenever I die.

How this works is simple. I only need two things. The Respawn Point which is the location where I will set where I want to respawn, and the Spawn, which is a small time energy planted inside me.

If the Spawn inside me, detected the disappearance of my life force in which means I died, the Respawn Point would summon back the Spawn, along with me during the time when I casted the Respawn Point.

The only downside of this ability are the distance limit where I can't get too far away from the Respawn Point and the energy consumption.

The energy consumption of this spell is actually a bit unique. It starts low in energy consumption and increases the more I respawn.

Let's say for example I have 100 points of energy and I died before respawning for the first time, it only consumes 10 points of energy.

However if I died and respawned for the second time, the consumption increases from 10 points to 20. The third consumes double, which means 40 points.

It basically just doubles the consumption for every respawn.

Now, you might be thinking how I knew all of this, right? Well you see, the moment the green orb of the Sacred Gear entered me, countless information immediately entered my mind, giving me the necessary knowledge to use the Chronos Requiem.

And what's surprising is that the abilities I mentioned above are just the basic abilities of the Longinus. It still have other advance abilities I can only use once I activated the upgraded form of Chronos Requiem, called Balance Breaker.

Achieving Balance Breaker not only gives me access to the Sacred Gear's entire utilities, but the downsides I mentioned above will be reduced.

That means I can use the Temporal Lock on almost anyone, even those much stronger than me for much more longer than normal.

Or even use the Loop ability without any distance limit and such.

Such a broken ability obviously came with a downside itself.

It exhausts me Physically, Mentally and Spiritually. That's right, it consumes the three concepts of our body, the Physical, Mental and Spiritual.

I didn't get this information from the Sacred Gear, instead, it came from God himself.

"And that should suffice it all. What do you think?" God placed his hands on his hips and grinned at me.

I know he was expecting a 'thank you' from me.

Considering what he just did, I don't mind putting my pride aside and thank him.

So I saunteered forward and engulfed him in the biggest hug I've ever given someone since the death of my parents.

"Ooof! Quite a hug you got there." I hear God chuckle on top of my head.

Yeah, the old man is almost 7 feet tall, did I forget to say that when I first met him?

For some reason, I felt warm hugging him like this. It's like hugging someone close to you in blood, like a parent or something.

Realizing that the hug was going on for about more than a minute, I quickly separated from him and hid the embarrassment by clearing my throat several times.

"Ehem! Anyways, I appreciate the gift. Truly. If there's something you want from me as long as its within my capabilities, I'll see what I can do." Obviously its only normal for me to return the favour for giving me such power up.

"Well, I'll hold you to that. Don't forget your word!" Why do I feel like I'm starting to regret those words?

"Anyways, my time is quite constricted for now, so I won't be able to spend much time with you. Toodles!" Waving his fingers at me, God disappeared in a puff of smoke.

Heh, nice trick.

Just in time as God disappeared, I heard a voice calling for my name.

"Master Chamber!" Thankfully, it was already past midnight or else the neighbors might think I owned some slaves.

Turning around, I saw Belle breathing heavily as she stopped in front of me, however despite having exhaustion plastered all over her figure, her face bore that of happiness and gratitude.

"Thank you! Thank you so much, Master Chamber!" Belle then bowed her head and said.

Stop calling me Master in public!

"Err- Belle. How about you continue thanking me once we get inside, okay?" Although confused by my words, thankfully she bought it and gave me one last bow before entering.

As for me, I stayed for a few times and waited for any signs of God coming back before sighing in disappointment.

Well, the old man is busy, so there's no point waiting for him like this. Besides, it's not like he regards me as someone important. He probably knows about me being someone who came from another world and is just watching over me.

With nothing left outside, I went back inside and saw that Belle were trying to pick up the dead vampire's ashes from the ground.

meanwhile, Tam was scrubbing the wooden floor with a wet towel and a bucket. Probably cleaning his own blood.

I immediately got their attention as soon as I got inside, with Tam's face lighting up upon seeing my presence.

I used my magical senses on the kid and oh boy, although his demonic energy reserves are only on the Low-class devil, but it's more than Dimitre Sitri's reserves, and the latter is an army's commanding officer.

"Master Chamber!" Dropping his towel, Tam proceeded to fall to his knees and bowed to the point his forehead touched the floor.

Before I could stop him from doing so, I heard him spoke.

"Thank you for bringing me back, Master. If it wasn't for you, my sister would be sad. Thank you, I owe you my life, Master." As if this wasn't enough, Belle, who have been waiting for a chance, also did the same as her brother and her forehead stuck on the ground.

"Like what he said, Master Chamber. We owe your our lives!"

Sigh, please don't tell me I'd have to deal with this all the time?

"You two…don't have to bow like that. And it's not like resurrecting you came for free." Seeing the confusion on their faces, I scratched my cheeks and continued, hoping this information won't shock them too much.

"Well, how do I say this. I didn't resurrect you back to human. Instead, you are now, a devil, like me." As expected, the moment I finished my words, their faces contorted from confusion to shock.

"Eh?"

"It doesn't sound that bad, it has its benefits like, you're going to outlive several family generations and such."

Goddamit now I understand how Serafall felt when she was convincing me when she turned me into a devil a few months ago.

***

"Accchoo! That's weird, I didn't know devils can also get sick." In her bedroom, Serafall was lying on the bed while scrubbing her nose after sneezing.

Feeling no after-sneeze coming, she shrugged her shoulders and resumed what she was doing.

If someone were to look at her work, they'd notice she was drawing on a paper.

On the paper was a crudely drawn face of herself and Chamber, holding hands and flying in the sky.

"Heheh~ I wonder when will ChamCham get back. His talk with Ajuka is taking a bit longer than usual. Could Ajuka be destroying my reputation in front of my ChamCham? No! I won't let him!" Realization took over her face as she quickly stood and prepared a teleportation circle.

"Don't worry, ChamCham. I'll save you from Ajuka!" For some reason, she liked the feeling when stating these words.

***

"Acchoo! Something's wrong, I can feel it." In his laboratory, Ajuka squinted his eyes as his devil instinct tells him that something bad and grim will happen.

He just don't know what it is.
