Chapter 227: MD-Chapter 226 The Phone Call
Arthur blinked as he saw this. When Spider-Man mentioned that he was not replying to texts, he had pulled his phone out of the Disassemble space and put it in his pocket.
Now, checking the screen, he saw it was from Lily!
After a brief pause, Arthur answered the call. Spider-Man looked puzzled as he asked. "You are seriously answering calls at a time like this?"
Arthur said "hello" into the receiver, then covered the mouthpiece and told Spider-Man, "Some calls are better answered. It can be a real hassle if you don't."
"Where are you? It seems like New York is in big trouble."
Lily's voice was urgent, and it looked like she was really worried.
Arthur glanced around and saw more Chitauri Chariots arriving, and it looked like there were even more coming.
While shooting at the Chitauri, Arthur said into the phone, "Is that so? I'm at home, taking the day off… What big trouble could New York be in? Did all the financial bigwigs on Wall Street drop dead in one day?"
"Don't joke with me. What's that noise in the background? Don't tell me it's gunfire!" Lily said before asking, "Are you really at home?"
"Of course, I'm at home watching TV," Arthur replied. "It's an action movie, and it's pretty intense."
As he spoke, he soared into the air, punched a Chitauri to death, and flew toward another one.
As the two were about to collide, Arthur's figure flickered and disappeared, reappearing in mid-air.
"And now?" Lily's voice was filled with skepticism and frustration. "What's that noise now?"
"Villains are attacking their camp. These guys have some serious firepower," Arthur said. "How did you know there was trouble in New York?"
"It's live on the news…"
Arthur blinked and looked up at a helicopter flying overhead, seemingly filming him.
He pondered for a moment and said, "The news is for kids. Anyway, if there's nothing else, I'll hang up now. I'll call you back tonight."
"Oh… Whatever you're doing, just be careful."
After hanging up, Lily stared at the TV screen, where the black-clad figure was still hanging up the phone, lost in thought.
The TV then shifted to Spider-Man, and the host was elaborating on everything Spider-Man had done since his appearance.
But these words were barely reaching Lily's ears.
...
...
After ending the call, Arthur found himself feeling a bit speechless.
Is this a joke?
They're not filming Iron Man or Hulk, but they're filming me? How bored can they be?
"What's wrong?"
Spider-Man landed next to him, having taken down several more Chitauri Chariots. Even with his stamina, he was starting to feel the strain.
Arthur looked at him and shook his head. "I might be in big trouble. Forget it for now; we need to find Loki."
Spider-Man nodded and asked, "Your wings look really cool. By the way, are you still human? Did aliens abduct you and implant some weird stuff in you?"
"You're imagining aliens? Why don't you write a novel?"
Arthur rolled his eyes.
"What's with the panic?" Spider-Man looked around at the sky full of aliens. "I think these guys have moved beyond just appearing in novels."
Arthur spread his wings and said, "Fight, fight, fight!!!"
Spider-Man, though confused, joined the battle.
...
...
Flying through the air, The Eye of Horus kept scanning the battlefield, trying to get an overview of the entire situation.
According to the strategic plan, the Chitauri were indeed confined to a specific area so far. Meanwhile, with the help of the police, efforts were made to evacuate civilians from the danger zone as much as possible.
However, the "wormhole" overhead continued to send out not only Chitauri's small Chitauri Chariots but also large shrimp-like creatures wreaking havoc on the streets!
With their assistance, the Chitauri were almost unstoppable.
After all, not everyone is Hulk, and not everyone can easily smash these giant shrimp into paste.
Yet, Loki's whereabouts remained elusive!
Arthur frowned and suddenly remembered the Power Stone in the Disassemble space...
"The Orb, is it possible to use it?"
As soon as the thought crossed his mind, he felt a surge of excitement. Without further delay, he moved and flew towards the Stark Tower.
The Eye of Horus observed the ground and happened to see Natasha looking up.
She appeared exhausted, clearly nearing her limit.
Arthur drew an Eye of Horus symbol in the air. The golden eye immediately flew to Natasha's position, and its light enveloped her. Natasha's expression changed, "What is this?"
At the same time, Arthur sent out four more Eyes of Horus, distributing them to Thor, Hulk, Steve, and Spider-Man.
Hawkeye stood on the rooftop, conserving energy and showing minimal physical exhaustion. Tony, in the Mark VII armor, flew in mid-air with relatively little physical strain.
The real concern was his mental state.
In high-intensity combat, could his mind hold up? After all, superheroes are still human, and they can become fatigued. Steve was fine; he was a true battlefield veteran. Natasha and Hawkeye were also experienced warriors.
But Tony was different. Without his armor, he was an ordinary human!
Could his mind endure the stress of such a battlefield?
Arthur felt he shouldn't worry about this, considering Tony was Iron Man.
But at this moment, he was genuinely concerned. After all, his nephew was sometimes quite thoughtful.
Lost in chaotic thoughts, he arrived at the rooftop of Stark Tower.
Dr. Selvig looked at the scene before him in despair.
Previously, Loki had used the Mind Stone-embedded magic staff to cloud his mind, but at some point, his consciousness had recovered.
"How are you feeling?" Arthur asked him.
Selvig shook his head, "We can't stop this from happening…"
"Maybe..."
Arthur pulled out The Orb from the Disassemble space, letting out a sigh, "Let's hope it doesn't attract any unwanted attention... Damn it, why does this always end up being my responsibility?"
With The Orb in hand, he prepared to move, but suddenly felt a slight fluctuation in the spatial energy within him.
The fluctuation was faint and subtle; if Arthur's mental energy hadn't grown to a significant level, he would never have noticed it!
