Marvel : Deadpool Is My Best Friend

Chapter 148: Chapter 148 : The Runaway Phoenix and Magneto's Little Plan

Phoenix Jean's violent aura swept across all of Hell's Kitchen like a gale-force wind, filling everyone with a deep unease.

Logan, who was drinking and chatting with Deadpool, was the first to notice the unusual presence.

He set down his wine glass and quickly rushed toward Jean.

Deadpool followed without hesitation, holding a bottle of wine and two glasses, clearly intending to enjoy a drink even amid the tension.

Meanwhile, Mr. Beast nervously performed quick bandaging on Scott Summers (Cyclops) and the others.

He knew there was no time to waste.

After treating their wounds, he joined the group rushing toward Jean.

Elsewhere, Charles Xavier (Professor X) and Erik Lehnsherr (Magneto) were talking. Magneto's goal was to help Alex Ray delay Professor X, who had no intention of acting yet, at least while his team wasn't facing fatal threats.

Professor X's face was solemn as he sensed the overwhelming aura.

"I didn't expect the thing I feared most would come to pass," Professor X sighed, his voice low and hoarse, carrying endless pain and regret.

Originally, he hadn't planned to bring Jean here. Once the Phoenix Force personality erupted, everyone in Hell's Kitchen would be in a desperate situation.

No one—from the federal government nor Hell's Kitchen residents—would be safe.

But Jean insisted on coming, her eyes resolute as if ready to face any consequence.

The others assured Professor X they would protect Jean and that nothing would go wrong.

Reluctantly, Professor X agreed.

Yet now, Jean had truly lost control. There was no reason or emotion in her eyes, only raw violence and destruction.

Professor X wasn't sure if he could reach the real Jean beneath the Phoenix. All he could do was try his best.

At this moment, Professor X deeply regretted getting involved. He had thought the combined strength of the X-Men and S.H.I.E.L.D. would be enough to handle Hell's Kitchen's problems.

But it seemed their power fell short—and whether they'd survive was uncertain.

The name Alex Ray weighed heavily on Professor X's mind.

He had not expected such a young man to gather so many with special abilities—almost rivaling Academy X in scale.

This made Professor X reconsider Alex's strength and ambition. What exactly did he want? What was his purpose?

If he could, Professor X would peer directly into Alex's mind, but every attempt was repelled.

These questions circled endlessly in his thoughts, growing heavier.

He knew he had to solve the crisis fast—or face disastrous consequences.

Turning to Magneto, Professor X's eyes held hope and earnestness.

He knew he needed this old friend's help.

Though they had past conflicts, they always united in critical moments.

Magneto smirked, a cold laugh escaping him.

"I told you not to get involved. If this rogue mutant destroys Hell's Kitchen, just wait for Alex's revenge. I can't stop him for you."

Though his words dripped sarcasm and indifference, Magneto was impressed by Alex as his son-in-law.

Not just Alex himself—the people around him were powerful too.

He was relieved Wanda and Pietro were safe here.

What Magneto admired most was Alex's courage to make the whole world his enemy.

This protective streak was just like Magneto's own—and Alex did it better.

Magneto wondered if he was truly getting old, the only one working hard in the Brotherhood of Mutants.

Except for Mystique and Sabretooth, the others seemed no match for Alex's men.

That thought grew stronger and stronger.

He suddenly considered: if Alex refused to join the Brotherhood, then maybe the Brotherhood would join Hell's Kitchen.

That way, the Brotherhood would have a place—and their boss would be a mutant.

The idea excited Magneto, who looked forward to it.

If Alex could see the system interface now, he'd notice Magneto's friendship level rising steadily.

"But I have to find a reason to join Hell's Kitchen," Magneto thought, slightly pained, but when his eyes met Professor X's, they lit up.

Maybe he could trick Professor X into coming to Hell's Kitchen—and Alex would accept it!

Though Magneto didn't especially like Professor X, he couldn't deny the latter's abilities and the quality of his mutants surpassed the Brotherhood's.

He approached Professor X and said, "Of course I'll help you, Charles, but you have to agree to one of my conditions."

Professor X was about to ask what the request was.

Suddenly, a powerful aura confronted Phoenix Jean.

Magneto immediately sensed it was his daughter Wanda Maximoff's.

His expression twisted with worry.

"Oh no, why is Wanda fighting rampaging Phoenix Jean?"

He knew well that Jean's unleashed power was nearly impossible to resist—even for him.

He couldn't imagine what would happen if Wanda faced Jean head-on.

Magneto urgently lifted the weakened Professor X with his magnetic powers and rushed toward the battlefield.

Their speed was almost flight.

He shouted to Professor X, "If anything happens to my daughter Wanda, I'll fight you to the death!"

Magneto was desperate. He had just found Wanda and couldn't let her get hurt again.

If Wanda suffered harm, he vowed to make the entire Xavier Academy pay. He also knew Alex Ray wouldn't forgive them if Wanda was hurt.

Professor X was shocked to learn that the one battling Jean was Magneto's daughter.

His expression grew even more serious, fully aware of the dire situation.

He closed his eyes, using his telepathic powers to try to stop Jean's rampage.

He knew it was the only option.

Meanwhile, as Wanda's aura exploded, the fighters allied with Alex in Hell's Kitchen stopped holding back and attacked with full force, aiming to reach Wanda quickly to help.

But Alex Ray, who should have arrived first, was stopped again by Carol Danvers (Captain Marvel).
