Marvel Cybernetic Girl

Chapter 405: 405 The True Ruler of Asgard

'Boom!'

The beam of the Bifrost slowly faded into the distant sky, leaving behind the princes of Asgard... and the silver-haired girl, Kagura, her wounds now completely healed.

Looks like... my feelings really did reach her.

A faint smile graced Kagura's lips. Good. At least I've successfully opened the curtain to a new fate.

"...My hammer… My precious hammer…"

In stark contrast to Kagura's relief, Thor was completely devastated.

"Such a big hammer... how could it just shatter like that…?"

The once-proud Mjölnir, the symbol of Thor's strength, now lay in pieces across the ground—beyond repair, utterly destroyed.

The poor God of Thunder knelt beside the fragments, looking like a child who had just lost his most beloved toy. His dazed eyes stared blankly as despair filled his face.

"Why... why did this happen... That was Mjölnir… My Mjölnir… How could it just... break…"

Watching his brother sink into misery, Loki sighed and shook his head before turning to Kagura, a trace of worry on his face.

"Sister... are you alright? I saw you get stabbed clean through earlier."

"Ah... I'm fine," Kagura replied softly, rubbing her stomach. "It seems... Hela healed me again."

"Ho? Well, now... that's something you don't hear every day."

Loki raised an eyebrow, flashing a grin.

"Hela, Goddess of Death... the same Hela whose life is nothing but endless slaughter. And yet she healed someone? Kagura, you really are a miracle in human form."

"Hela… she wasn't always like this…"

A weathered voice drifted from behind them.

The King of Asgard, Odin himself—who had been silent through the entire battle—had finally regained some clarity.

He sat alone upon the shattered coastline, gazing out over the dark blue sea, where the raging storms had finally calmed.

But the land bore the scars of war.

Once lush and beautiful, the Norwegian coast was now ravaged beyond recognition.

The earth lay split and cracked.

The cliffs had crumbled.

The grassy meadows by the sea were scorched into blackened wastelands.

The forests had been reduced to splintered wreckage.

"Children… come. Sit beside me," Odin called softly, motioning for them to gather around him.

"Let me tell you… a little story."

Long ago—countless millennia in the past—Asgard stood locked in endless war with the neighboring realms.

Odin, newly crowned King of Asgard, led his fierce armies and the legendary Valkyrie into battle after battle, shedding blood to protect the Aesir from countless enemies.

But even the mightiest god cannot fight forever.

As time went on, the wars worsened. Every day brought new threats, new losses.

And then... Hela was born.

Odin was disappointed at first.

A daughter?

In such times of constant warfare, Asgard needed a warrior prince—not a princess.

But in the end... a daughter was better than nothing.

So Odin decided: Hela would become his weapon.

He subjected her to the harshest military training the realm had ever known. Every day was filled with brutal combat, awakening the slumbering godly power within her.

From the moment she could walk, Hela knew nothing but war.

No warmth. No joy. No childhood.

Her life became an endless cycle of battle, killing, and survival.

She was never taught love, nor laughter, nor gentleness. Even her father, Odin, saw her not as a daughter—but as a living weapon to be used.

Only one person ever gave her kindness.

Odin's wife—Frigga, Queen of Asgard.

Whenever Hela came home broken and bleeding, it was Frigga who tended to her wounds.

It was Frigga's gentle touch, her soothing voice, her starlight-like smile... that kept a flicker of light alive in Hela's heart.

Because of that small light... Hela survived.

She grew strong.

Strong enough to stand beside the gods themselves.

But her bloody, twisted life awakened in her the divine power of Death.

She became the Goddess of Death itself—ruler of Asgard's dead.

Yet deep within that darkness... Frigga's light planted a seed.

A small, forgotten seed of life... of healing... of rebirth.

Death and rebirth—two sides of the same coin.

Though Hela ruled death, she also held dominion over renewal. Over life.

But her cruel destiny... and her father's demands... crushed that gentle power.

Long ago, a young Hela once dared to ask Odin:

"Father... when will the wars end? When can we live in peace and happiness... like the stories say?"

Even then, Hela had dreamed of a life like other girls—a future where she could find someone she loved, marry, bear children, and know warmth.

But Odin's answer killed that dream.

"Hela. You were born to fight. To kill. So long as Asgard's enemies remain, so too does our war. Forget foolish fantasies. They'll only distract you."

A careless command.

But those words shattered the last of Hela's hopes.

Fight. Kill. Destroy.

So that's all I am...

As she stood beneath Asgard's crimson sky, Hela's eyes dimmed.

I am the Goddess of Death. My only fate is endless war and slaughter. I am nothing but a flower of blood, blooming in the battlefield. Nothing else matters.

From that moment, Hela raised Mjölnir—not to build or to protect—but to conquer.

With unimaginable brutality, she led Asgard's armies to subjugate every world that dared oppose them.

The name "Goddess of Death" echoed across the universe—feared by all.

As the story reached this point, Odin let out a long, heavy sigh.

"What happened afterward… you all already know."

"So... the one who drove Sister Hela into such madness, who turned her into someone willing to defy Asgard and wage endless war…"

Kagura murmured softly, pieces of the truth finally falling into place from Odin's words.

"Yes... it was my own foolishness that created the Hela you see today," Odin admitted with a bitter nod.

"People always end up creating their own enemies—whether they mean to or not. I am no exception… perhaps that's simply fate at work."

"I once tried to seal Hela away after she succumbed to madness… but looking back now, that was probably the greatest mistake of all. I… truly was an unworthy father."

He closed his single eye for a moment, then continued in a voice that grew weaker by the second.

"I'm sorry… but from here on, the future must depend on all of you. My time… has come to an end."

His life force was visibly fading now.

As he looked upon the three standing before him, the wisdom and strength once shining in his lone eye were now clouded by sorrow and gentle warmth.

"Thor… my son. Asgard is not a land that can be held aloft by the will of one man alone. Do not make the same mistakes I did. A true king must bear the dignity and patience to lead the Aesir into prosperity… not by force, but by unity."

Thor lowered his head silently, saying nothing.

The once carefree, boisterous god of thunder now stood heavy with thought.

…Though perhaps, it was simply because his beloved hammer had just been shattered.

Odin then turned to the man standing quietly nearby.

"Loki… Loki Odinson, my son… prince of Asgard… to you, I owe the deepest apology."

Loki glanced sideways, eyes filled with old wounds and hesitation.

"I know... you have hated me for so long. Hated my unfairness. My prejudice. Even now, I have no excuses to offer."

"But Loki, you must understand... I have always loved you. Never once did I see you as a monster or an outsider because of your Frost Giant blood."

He gave a faint, pleading smile. "May I ask of you one last favor…?"

Loki remained silent, but he slowly nodded. His gaze wavered, filled with emotion he rarely let show.

"Loki… your brother cannot bear the burden of Asgard alone. You are irreplaceable. Only together, as brothers, can you two guide the Aesir to survive and flourish. This is my final request… can you promise me this?"

Loki stepped forward, kneeling beside Odin. Gently, he took his father's weathered hands into his own.

"Father… your wish shall become my creed. I cannot say whether my hatred for you will ever fade… but for this moment—here and now—I, Loki, accept your apology."

A look of peace finally came to Odin's face. "Good… that's… good…"

His gaze shifted to Kagura.

"Kagura Hitomi… Princess of Asgard. Your future is shrouded in a darkness even deeper than the Realm of Shadows. I cannot see where your path leads… but I give you my sincerest blessing."

Kagura lowered her head respectfully.

"King of the Gods… I have my own wish to fulfill. And for that dream… I will walk forward without end."

"…Such a warm light you carry, girl… like the sun itself," Odin murmured with a smile.

"How I wish… you were truly my daughter. You would have been the one to stand beside Thor and Loki to lead Asgard together…"

But then he waved a tired hand. "Ah… forgive an old man's idle hopes. You need not dwell on such words."

A gentle breeze swept across the ruined shore.

Far away, the sea had grown calm once more.

Spring would soon come again. Flowers would bloom on the blackened hillsides. The forests would heal.

The mist parted, and golden sunlight poured down upon the land of gods.

Facing this perfect view, Odin let out a final, contented breath.

"Children... I leave the future in your hands. Never… lose hope…"

A flash of brilliant gold enveloped him—

And in the next instant, the King of the Gods dissolved into countless shimmering lights, scattering like stardust across the sky, gliding toward the far shore of eternity...
