Chapter 398: 398 Opening Thunderstrike!
Kagura's brief vacation had come to an end.
Even though she had once again felt the warmth of a true home in this world, none of that would matter if she couldn't overcome the final obstacle ahead.
Everything she had gained so far would vanish like an empty dream.
If Thanos succeeded, half the life in the universe would be reduced to dust.
Everyone Kagura cared about would be torn apart—and she herself wasn't even sure she'd survive the coming catastrophe.
And if this world was truly headed toward that inevitable "Endgame," then the person she respected and cared for the most—Tony Stark, Iron Man—would surely give his life in the final battle.
Such an ending... she could never accept.
And so, fully equipped and resolved, the silver-haired girl once again set off on her journey to save the world and carve a new future.
As for the Cosmic Cube, Loki's generous parting gift from across the stars—Kagura had wasted no time dismantling it.
The Tesseract had been swiftly reduced back to its true form: the Space Stone.
It now rested, fully integrated, into her core energy reactor.
Five stones gathered. Only one remained.
The silver-haired girl was now just one step away from her ultimate goal.
But that step would not come without cost.
The more Infinity Stones her core absorbed, the greater the burden on the Soul Stone.
With five stones now housed within her, Kagura was approaching the absolute limit of what her core could sustain.
As the stones consumed more of her system's processing power, there was a terrifying possibility: if she were to collapse like she had during the fight against Dormammu, she might never awaken again—reduced to nothing more than a living vessel for the Infinity Stones.
Before departure, Cortana had plainly laid out this grim truth.
"It's alright, Cortana. I'll take care of myself," Kagura said with a gentle smile. "After all, the entire universe is riding on my shoulders now, isn't it? If something happened to me, so many people would be heartbroken... I won't let that happen. I promise! Ehehe."
She grinned playfully. Five stones in hand—how could she possibly lose now?
Wait a minute.
Wasn't that the perfect setup for a flag?
Ugh... never mind! Who cares!
I'm not a doomed supporting character, after all!
Smiling to herself, the silver-haired girl pushed the thought aside—but Cortana's expression remained tense.
Perhaps only Cortana truly understood the weight Kagura was carrying in this moment.
Her master... must be bearing an unimaginable burden.
The dignified maid raised her gaze slightly, watching as Kagura calmly boarded the transport. If this was her mission—her reason for being in this world—then all she could do was pray.
May fortune favor her in battle.
————————————————————————
The sleek, silver "Halo" transport aircraft sliced through the skies, heading north.
Kagura's destination: Norway, Northern Europe.
Even with five Infinity Stones in her possession, she still couldn't locate the final one—the Power Stone.
She knew it was kept on Xandar, but without the help of the Asgardians, there was no way she could travel alone across the vast universe or even pinpoint the planet's exact location.
So, in order to gain the aid of Thor and the others, Kagura first had to resolve the crisis facing the Asgardians.
Ragnarök.
According to the intelligence Loki had shared, the Marvel Universe's version of Ragnarök was far more than just Asgard's end—it was the spark that would ignite Thanos's rise from the shadows to center stage.
The true "Twilight" that half the life in the universe would soon face.
A little deduction made it clear: if the events of Ragnarök were triggered—as in the MCU—Odin would die.
Hela, the goddess of death, would also fall.
Asgard itself would be wiped from existence.
And with the Ancient One retired and no longer at the peak of her powers, there would be precious few left in the universe capable of standing against Thanos.
Worse still... the only Infinity Stone Thanos could easily obtain now was the Power Stone—the one resting on Xandar, the key to absolute offense and defense.
If Thanos secured the Power Stone, even with the other five stones in her possession, Kagura didn't believe she could win a head-on confrontation.
After all, the stones could not interfere with each other's powers.
In other words, if she truly wanted to stop the "Snap Crisis" and change this universe's march toward Infinity War and Endgame, then she first had to rewrite the fate of Asgard itself.
Only then could Earth's heroes face the coming storm at full strength.
As the saying goes: unite every force you can to stand even a sliver of a chance against fate.
The "Halo" transport soared at supersonic speed through the endless sky.
This time, Kagura traveled alone—at Odin's invitation.
Out of courtesy, she had left even Cortana behind, instructing her to have Rhodes Island's global defense network on standby.
After all, Odin was now just an old man—a weary king who had guarded the universe for millennia and now simply wished to see his adopted daughter one last time.
There shouldn't be any danger.
In fact, there might even be a sense of family warmth.
Probably.
Then again... when it came to Odin's family, there was always more "excitement" than peace.
"Master, according to the navigation data, we're nearing our destination—but there are abnormal weather patterns detected. Please confirm."
Cortana's voice came through the communicator just as something shocking unfolded before Kagura's eyes.
Such a sight did not belong in the serene beauty of Northern Europe.
If anything... it seemed ripped from the depths of some underworld.
A vast black cloud loomed over the sea, swallowing the sky and earth. The once-picturesque landscape was utterly gone.
A massive vortex of dark clouds spun like the eye of a black hurricane.
Countless bolts of emerald lightning danced within the storm, twisting into a colossal whirlpool of energy that dragged everything around it toward a gaping green abyss at its center.
Towering waves surged as the monstrous storm clouds whipped the ocean into a frenzy.
Dozens of giant waterspouts rose from the sea, all crackling with violent, emerald lightning.
"Cortana, bring the transport to a halt here. I'll go the rest of the way myself."
Kagura made a swift decision, throwing open the "Halo" transport's hatch. "We may not be short on money these days, but it's still best to avoid wrecking this thing."
Her judgment was sound.
Even with Rhodes Island's most advanced energy shields, the transport likely wouldn't survive long in such extreme weather.
Dropping her off at the storm's edge was the safest move.
Leaping from the transport, Kagura spread her radiant wings, riding the savage winds toward the heart of the tempest.
As she closed in, Kagura could sense two immense powers clashing within the storm—locked in a fierce, chaotic struggle.
Their battle was tearing the land, breaking mountains, raising tsunamis, and twisting space itself.
Just what... was happening here?
