Chapter 21: Chapter 21 – Wang Ye: Fighting Yourself, Seriously?!

Faced with the overwhelming force of the assault team, the Hydra soldiers—already dazed by Wang Ye's earlier attack—were completely unable to resist. Within just a few minutes, they were all wiped out.

"Captain, all enemy forces have been eliminated. Awaiting your orders!"

A soldier named Balu approached Wang Ye, saluted, and reported the outcome. His eyes were filled with admiration as he looked at Wang Ye.

"Have the brothers move all of Hydra's weapons to the clearing.

Everyone can pick out a weapon they're comfortable using. These things pack some serious firepower."

Wang Ye glanced at the scattered, early-model energy weapons on the ground. He figured this was the perfect time to upgrade the team's gear. Otherwise, the upcoming battles at the remaining two bases would be significantly more difficult.

"Yes, Captain!"

Balu took the order and immediately got to work with the other soldiers.

Before long, all the weapons in the camp had been gathered in the central clearing.

The soldiers eagerly picked out their preferred weapons and tested them on the spot.

An unexpected bonus was discovered in the camp's warehouse: a brand-new tank. As luck would have it, one of the soldiers in the team knew how to drive it. After studying it for a bit, he quickly figured out the controls.

After a short break, the soldiers had fully mastered their new gear and regrouped, standing by for the next orders.

Seeing the grinning faces of the soldiers now armed with upgraded equipment, Wang Ye cleared his throat and said:

"Our first target has been successfully captured—but we can't let our guard down yet.

Our next objective is the second camp—the one with the heaviest defenses.

The layout is similar to this one, but the garrison is much larger, and their weapons are far more advanced.

Considering how stretched the front lines are, this level of defense is extremely unusual. I believe they're protecting something—or someone—very important.

That's why we need to move quickly with this raid. We must uncover what they're guarding before they blow the base sky-high!"

Wang Ye reviewed the latest intel from the scouts and began working out the next phase of the plan.

Although the plan wasn't tactically sophisticated, it was the most effective and efficient method available.

"That's the mission. Everyone understands?"

"Understood!" the soldiers shouted in unison.

"Move out!"

"How long has Captain Wang Ye been gone?"

Colonel Phillips asked as he reviewed a report he'd just received, turning to the aide beside him.

"Captain Wang Ye departed at 9 a.m. It's been ten hours now."

The aide replied cautiously. After the recent communications issue, he didn't dare make a single mistake, afraid the colonel might seize the chance to punish him.

"Hm... let's hope this raid goes smoothly. If they can take out those three camps, we might finally see the end of this war."

Still, Colonel Phillips couldn't shake the worry that something might happen to Wang Ye. After all, no matter how capable someone was, one man's strength had its limits. Facing well-guarded Hydra bases equipped with powerful weapons, even the best could be overwhelmed.

What the Colonel didn't expect, however, was that Wang Ye wasn't just hard-headed—he also fought dirty.

Just as the Colonel was deep in thought, the ground began to tremble slightly.

A commotion broke out in the camp outside.

Frowning, Phillips stood and headed out to investigate, with his nervous aide trailing behind.

Outside the Camp

Two Hydra tanks—now flying the Stars and Stripes—and four armored vehicles were rolling straight toward the Allied camp in formation.

At first, the soldiers in the camp panicked at the noise, thinking Hydra was launching a counterattack right at their doorstep.

They scrambled to grab weapons and gear, ready to defend.

But when they saw the tall, upright figure of Wang Ye standing atop one of the tanks, with a familiar flag waving beside him, they couldn't help but breathe a collective sigh of relief, followed by cheers and celebration.

Colonel Phillips also saw the showy Wang Ye standing on the tank and couldn't help but twitch his lips.

"Colonel, these are the spoils from our raid. This should give that kid, Howard, something useful to study—who knows, it might help us develop new equipment!"

Wang Ye pointed to the back of the tank he was standing in. Only then did everyone notice that each tank and armored vehicle was hauling a massive cargo crate, each one filled to the brim with various types of Hydra energy weapons.

"Captain Wang Ye, you've earned top honors for this one!"

Colonel Phillips beamed at the sight of so many cutting-edge weapons.

Wang Ye jumped down from the tank and strode quickly to the Colonel, pulling a waterproof-wrapped document from inside his jacket. He spoke in a low voice:

"I found this in a heavily guarded secret room at one of the bases. If I hadn't acted fast, it would've been destroyed.

Time was tight, so I didn't get a chance to read it. Open it now—let's take a look together!"

Colonel Phillips nodded solemnly as he took the document.

"This isn't the place. Let's take it to the command tent—it might be a record of some highly classified strategic plan."

With that, the Colonel headed toward the command tent.

Wang Ye gave a few quick orders to Balu and the others, telling them to send the captured gear to the logistics department. Then he followed Phillips into the tent.

Inside, Colonel Phillips slowly peeled away the waterproof protective layer from the classified file.

As the last layer came off, it revealed a red cover, at the center, a golden five-pointed star.

Below it, in Russian, were the words:

"Winter Soldier Program"
