Chapter 5: Chapter 5: The Last Heart-to-Heart Conversation
"This is what is called a dimensionality reduction strike. In front of a high-dimensional civilization, a low-dimensional civilization is as small as a bug. No, no, no, it's even more fragile than a bug. Because bugs can at least bite people, but low-dimensional civilizations can't even figure out how they were destroyed!" Erik looked at Nick Fury in front of him with empty eyes, his voice filled with a hint of despair and sadness.
Dr. Erik's tone became serious: "I have been pursuing scientific truth all my life, but I found that humans can never understand the existence of high-dimensional civilizations. Their technological level is far beyond our imagination, and we can't even leave the earth. Faced with such a gap, I feel powerless."
Erik's shoulders drooped slightly, revealing his inner frustration. He continued, "We can only speculate the behavior patterns of high-dimensional civilizations through mathematical models, but this method is too limited to truly understand their intentions. They may think we are entertainment, or just use us as experiments. In any case, we are insignificant."
He looked away from Nick Fury and looked into the distance, as if he saw the endless starry sky and the unknown world. "We know too little about the universe. Perhaps in the eyes of higher-dimensional civilizations, we are just a group of naive children trying to explore a world full of dangers."
Erik's face showed deep helplessness. He sighed and said, "I used to think that science could solve all problems, but now I realize that it is only a limited tool. Facing the power of higher-dimensional civilizations, our science seems so powerless."
Finally, he shook his head, looking very lonely. "I have studied science all my life, but in the end I still cannot cross the dimensional gap. We can't even fly out of the earth, while the other side can easily destroy our entire universe."
"Doctor, think about it positively. Maybe this Screen in the sky doesn't have any malicious intentions." Seeing that Erik seemed to have lost hope, Hill couldn't help but begin to comfort him. They still needed this knowledgeable doctor to study the screen in the sky, and they couldn't just give up like this.
"No need for malice, it's like I accidentally crumpled a piece of paper. I didn't have any malice to do that, but for the person living in that piece of paper, it would be a disaster."
"But what you said does make sense. At the moment, the screen showing Peter Parker's regret may just be for fun. It reveals the future to us so that some things will not happen again."
"According to your theory, shouldn't they have known everything long ago? Even if Peter Parker on the screen made a different choice, they would have known it clearly, right?"
"Have you ever seen light? It takes 8 minutes for light to travel from the sun to the earth, but for the screen, it only takes a moment to reach the earth. Maybe the other party in their world has long stopped paying attention to us, but our universe cannot accept such a huge amount of information, and it is only showing it bit by bit until now."
"A huge amount of information?"
"To be precise, the information that can be seen in the higher-dimensional world should be infinite compared to that in the lower-dimensional world!" Erik corrected slightly.
"Perhaps our reactions will be seen by the other party in the future, but we ourselves don't know it. Let's just proceed as planned."
"Director, I have finished my theory."
"Well, go and take a rest first! You've worked hard!" Nick Fury nodded and let Dr. Erik leave.
"Hill, what do you think?"
"The doctor's research sounds reasonable, but we can't prove anything and we can't do anything now. We might as well take a good look at what the Screen wants." Hill walked to the window, looked at the Screen that had not yet started a new segment, and sighed deeply.
Just as Hill was looking at the sky, the sky, which had been silent for a day, finally became bright again.
"Director, it's on again!"
"Let the people below be prepared and don't miss any details!" Nick Fury gave the order quickly.
[Peter Parker was inspired by Flash's sports car and wanted a car of his own, but even the price of a used car was to much for him.]
[Finally, he saw an advertisement for recruiting wrestler in the newspaper. The slogan of earning $3000 in three minutes on the field attracted him.]
[He imagined himself driving a sports car to pick up Mary Jane, and smiled unconsciously.]
[Screen cuts to Peter starting to design his own clothing, as wrestling requires wrestler to wear brightly colored clothing.]
[Peter thought of various outfits and finally designed a red and blue outfit with a spider pattern on the heart.]
[After the costume was designed, Peter began to train himself to grab objects with spider web and retrieve them. At first, he couldn't control his strength well and broke a lot of things, but soon he was able to control his strength and pull Coca-Cola into his hand.]
[But he accidentally pulled the lamp over. Although Peter avoided it, the lamp smashed into the wall. This noise also attracted Aunt May's attention. She thought Peter was acting strange recently! ]
[The scene turns to a newspaper, which reads: Will Norman Osborn ever recover? Norman looks at the newspaper in his hand, and suddenly a strange laugh rings out in the air. He closes his eyes in pain and shakes his head.]
[Uncle Ben thought Peter must have experienced something, but he was too embarrassed to tell him, and Ben himself was too embarrassed to ask, so he could only find an excuse to take Peter out when he was about to go make his money.]
[Ben sent Peter to his destination and wanted to talk to him. Peter wanted to talk later, but Uncle Ben felt that he had to talk now. He said that Peter refused to do housework, did some strange experiments in his room, and fought with others at school.]
[Peter is a little annoyed and says he said he didn't start it. Ben asks, "Didn't you win the fight?"]
[Peter asked in confusion, "Should I run away?"]
[Uncle Ben denied Peter's statement. He knew Peter was in a rebellious period. He and Peter had gone through this period, but Peter said that they were completely different.]
[Ben told Peter that maybe Flash was wrong and he deserved it, but although Peter could beat him, it did not mean he had the right to beat him. Finally, he solemnly warned Peter Parker that the With great power comes great responsibility! ]
[Peter didn't care about Ben's preaching, and told him not to worry about it, saying that he would solve his own problems. In the end, the two parted unhappily after Peter told Ben not to preach to him like a father! ]
[At this moment, a narration suddenly sounded from the sky: "Poor Peter didn't know that this was the last time he would talk to his uncle. His heart was full of Mary Jane, but he ignored his family, so he regretted it after losing him!"]
