Chapter 9: CHAPTER 9
Nyra's POV:
"Now, tell me about your little adventure yesterday." Madam Daphne said while staring directly at me.
I bowed my head in shame as I didn't want her to see the emotions in my eyes, I was so naive to have swung into action without proper planning.
"I tried to escape last night, but Midway I realized I had no way to run to and it wouldn't take much effort before the warriors would catch up with me, I'm sorry madam Daphne."
I said looking up into her eyes to see if I could catch the glimpse of any emotion. I failed at that as I sensed she was a pro in masking emotions.
"No need to be sorry child, I totally understand… I heard the large vase underneath my room's window make some weird noises so I peered down to see what was meddling with it only to find you at the scene.
So that was how she found out. I whispered silently to myself.
"I knew what you were up to immediately, but decided not to raise any alarm as I was certain that you would come back, so I set out to wait for you." She looked at me as if expecting me to say something.
"Tell me why you tried." She finally asked.
I knew that was what made her curious, but I had many reasons running through my mind and I couldn't decide on what to tell her.
"I was scared madam Daphne, and running away was the only thing I could think of at that moment." I told her as I decided not to tell her everything in full detail.
"Can I ask a favor from you madam Daphne?" I looked up pleadingly, ensuring our eyes met.
Zevian's POV:
I watched her in silence as she ran back towards the pack, but still had some unsettling feeling as I didn't want her to get caught by the guards.
Not that I cared about her, I just didn't want her to fall into the trap of luna Zaria, she's so ruthless and could kill anyone who does standing away, I'm sure her son is not an exception.
"Go after her Zevian," Zac was urging me as if I was a guardian or keeper.
I stood up on all four limbs as a flexed my muscles to go after her, I looked up at the sky and notice that the Moon was almost at the center of it, my brownish colored for took on a gray appearance and I was able to camouflage into the night with quick and Swift movement hiding behind the buildings.
I slowed down my pace when I stood a few distance away from her. Not wanting her to get the feeling that she was being followed.
She was almost reaching the villa when I saw her slow down her pace feeling reluctant to go further, I knew she was already thinking of a way to get past the guards.
She hid behind the last pillar, and slowly an image emerged from the darkness, and suddenly gripped her by the shoulder. I immediately sprang into action ready to tear the person apart, but just then I saw the panic in her eyes die down.
I relaxed a bit but still stood alert and watched as the woman figure took her through the back of the building where there was a secret passageway, she seemed to have so much trust in this woman as I watched them go through the door.
I couldn't continue my watch over her as they slowly disappearing to the darkness I turned to go back into the forest but couldn't as my one's peaceful night had been disturbed by this cowardly girl the moon goddess paired me with as mate.
I turned my back to go into the neighborhood of the Omega's where I reside, the buildings of the pack varies from size to size depending on one's ranking.
The Alpha resides in the biggest and most decorated building, owning a villa to himself, the beta's ( second in command) building is a lot more smaller than that of the Alpha's.
The pack's trainers community follows suits making them the middleman of the pack.
Now to the Omega's where I reside, the Omega's are of low ranking not really considered to be important in a pack but also plays a vital role in keeping the pack safe by acting as security and watch guards. The omegas do not attract much attention from the higher ups, and that's why I choose to reside here.
The lota's, which are the lowest of all ranking plays no important role in the pack as they mainly consists of old men and women, retired warriors, children and ladies. They are meant to be watched over and protected as they are regarded as the heart of the pack.
Walking slowly through the last turn before my building, I took this quiet time to reminisce and how life was before now. It wasn't at all easy growing up in a foreign land which I didn't belong to, I never got to know my Dad, and I was told that my mom was murdered by a group of warriors from the Shadow moon Pack under the command of Luna Zaria, thereby rubbing me of maternal love.
There is never a day that could pass by without me thinking of ways to exact my revenge, and here I am standing before my door waiting to be greeted by nothing but emptiness.
I changed back into my human form as I walked into the room closing the door behind me.
I further went inside the room, my steps echoing through the walls as I located the king sized mattress at the center of the room.
I laid on the bed looking up at the ceiling and slowly closing my eyes allowing myself to be engulfed by the emptiness. My heart has been filled with nothing but darkness and I doubt if I ever get to see the light.
