Chapter 102: The Empress of Amazon Lily
Amazon Lily was buzzing with excitement. A man had arrived on the island. For an all-female nation, this was a momentous event. The women were all restless. After throwing Luffy into a prison cell, they gathered to stare at him.
"A man! It's truly a rarity on our island!"
"What is a 'man'? Why is it different from us?"
"What are those two bags? And that mushroom?"
Countless women pointed at Luffy. He quickly awoke from his daze. He had been flying through the air for three days and three nights before finally landing on an island. Starving, he had immediately gone in search of food and had accidentally eaten a poisonous mushroom, which had caused other mushrooms to sprout all over his body. After being rescued, he had woken up here. Looking at the women pointing at him from outside the prison, Luffy asked, "Where is this? Did you save me?" He was incredibly adaptable and felt no awkwardness in the new environment.
"The man spoke!" his words caused a stir among the women. They asked him a few questions, and he answered them all.
But at that moment, a message arrived: "Lady Snake is back!"
The women were all taken aback, and their expressions toward Luffy immediately turned murderous.
"There's no other way! Since Lady Snake is back, we have to kill him before she finds him!"
"Lady Snake does not allow men on this island! Kill him!"
The women all drew their bows and aimed their arrows at Luffy. He was shocked. Though he didn't know what was going on, he knew he was in a bad situation. Worried about his crewmates, he couldn't afford to be trapped here. Seeing the arrows flying toward him, he didn't hesitate. He blasted a hole in the wall, grabbed one of the women, and made a quick escape.
The Kuja warriors chased after him, their arrows powerful enough to shatter rock, but they were no match for Luffy's speed, and he quickly lost them.
"Hey, who is this 'Lady Snake'?" Luffy asked the woman he had taken hostage. "Why did everyone change their expressions when they heard her name?" The woman he had grabbed was Marguerite, the one who had first found him and brought him back to the village for treatment. However, the moment she realized he was a man, she had turned on him, trying to kill him.
"Waaah!"
Suddenly, Luffy leaped off a cliff.
"Aaaah!" Marguerite screamed in horror. A fall from such a height would surely be fatal. But to her surprise, Luffy's body suddenly inflated like a balloon.
"Gum-Gum Balloon!" Luffy had bitten his thumb and blown into it. As they hit the ground, the air pressure in his body cushioned their fall, and they bounced safely to the ground. The elasticity of his rubber body was incredible; he could survive a fall from a sky island, let alone a cliff.
"You!" After she was free, Marguerite immediately drew her bow and aimed it at Luffy.
"My nakama... I don't know where they are now," Luffy said, his expression serious. "I need a boat."
Seeing his earnest face, Marguerite found she couldn't bring herself to feel any hostility toward him. She hesitated for a moment, then gritted her teeth and slowly lowered her bow. "It's useless. Even if you had a boat, you couldn't leave. There is no wind around this island."
"The Calm Belt!" Luffy was stunned for a moment, then his face lit up with surprise. He remembered Nami telling him about it, and their own brief foray into the Calm Belt in the East Blue. It was the nesting ground for Sea Kings.
"Found him! He's here!"
"Margaret, catch him! Don't let him get away!"
"Quickly, before Lady Snake finds out, kill him!"
At that moment, the Kuja Elder, Gloriosa, and the other warriors caught up to them. They surrounded Luffy, preparing to shoot him.
"I don't care! Even if it's the Calm Belt, I have to find my crew!" Luffy's face became determined. He prepared to fight back. He wouldn't be trapped here.
"ROAR!"
Suddenly, a loud roar echoed from the distant sea. Huge Sea Kings surged out of the water, all of them converging on a single point—or rather, a single person.
"Someone has entered the Calm Belt!" the Kuja warriors exclaimed in surprise.
But their astonishment quickly turned to shock. The next moment, a crescent of sword energy shot out, beheading all the Sea Kings in a single strike. Their corpses littered the sea, which had turned red with their blood.
"Th-this...!"
"It's a human swordsman! Another man!"
"He killed all those Sea Kings so easily! How powerful is he?!"
The Kuja warriors were stunned. Luffy, however, squinted, trying to make out the figure in the distance. He finally recognized who it was and, overjoyed, began to wave frantically. "Moonlight! Moonlight!"
"You know him?" Gloriosa and the others looked at Luffy in surprise.
"He's my vice-captain!" Luffy nodded, still waving and shouting.
After dispatching the Sea Kings that had unwisely provoked him, Moonlight had been about to head straight for Amazon Lily to find Luffy when he heard his captain's voice. He looked over and saw Luffy on a small island nearby, surrounded by female warriors. The situation didn't look good. But seeing that Luffy was alive and well, he couldn't help but wave back joyfully.
He was about to head over to Luffy when a cannonball suddenly shot toward him. Moonlight dodged it and saw a massive ship approaching, pulled by two giant sea serpents. The pirate flag was a nine-headed snake, coiled like the sun. It was the Kuja Pirates. The commotion Moonlight had made had attracted their attention.
Sitting in the center of the ship, with a red-patterned python coiled behind her, was an exquisitely beautiful woman with long, jet-black hair styled in a hime cut, dark blue eyes, and a pair of golden snake earrings. This was one of the Seven Warlords of the Sea, the Pirate Empress, Boa Hancock.
"No, it's Lady Snake! She's here!"
"Did she spot us?"
"Quickly, execute this man before she finds out!"
"It's too late! Hurry, let's get out of here!"
Seeing Boa Hancock, the Kuja warriors trembled as if something terrible were about to happen. They grabbed Luffy and, despite his struggles, quickly disappeared from the island. Their Haki was strong enough to overpower him.
"Hm?" Moonlight was about to act, but Hancock spoke first. She looked at him and waved a dismissive hand. "Kill him."
"Yes, my lady." Countless guards on her ship moved to attack.
"Hmph." Moonlight snorted and glanced at them. Before they could even move, they all collapsed to the ground, unconscious.
"Conqueror's Haki!" Hancock stood up abruptly, looking at Moonlight in surprise. The two women beside her, her sisters, were also shocked. Conqueror's Haki was the power of the chosen few, something one was born with, not something that could be trained. The man before them was one of the chosen.
"What is your purpose in coming to my Amazon Lily?" Hancock asked coldly. Normally, she couldn't be bothered with people, especially men, but Moonlight's display of Conqueror's Haki had surprised her, and now she had to intervene personally.
"My purpose? I've already achieved it, so I'm leaving," Moonlight said, shaking his head. He had come to find Luffy, and now that he had, and had seen that he was safe, he was ready to depart. "By the way," he added, remembering the letter, "I was asked to deliver this." He took the letter from his coat and tossed it toward Hancock.
"Do you think my Amazon Lily is a place you can just come and go as you please?" Hancock didn't even look at the letter, letting it fall to the side. "They may have agreed, but I have not. And if I do not agree, you cannot leave. Because I... am beautiful!" she declared, leaning back 180 degrees and flicking her hair, her voice dripping with a sickly sweet tone.
"Ah!" The men around her swooned, their eyes turning to hearts as they completely surrendered to her charms, looking like crazed fans who had just seen their idol.
So this is the power of the Love-Love Fruit, Moonlight thought, feeling a jolt of shock despite himself. Combined with her peerless beauty, it's no wonder they call her the most beautiful woman in the world.
"Love-Love Mellow!" Hancock formed a heart shape with her hands, about to unleash her attack on Moonlight.
But in that instant, Moonlight vanished. The next moment, to her stunned and shocked surprise, a half-black, half-white sword was pressed against her neck, accompanied by a cold voice. "You'd better read the letter."
"You... you can ignore my charm?" Hancock trembled, unable to believe it. Ever since she had eaten the Love-Love Fruit, men had fallen at her feet wherever she went. When had anyone ever pointed a sword at her neck? And she could clearly feel the killing intent from this man; if she made a single wrong move, he would not hesitate to kill her.
"How could he get so close to our sister in an instant?!"
"Sister!"
Hancock's sisters, Boa Sandersonia and Boa Marigold, stared at Moonlight in shock. They couldn't believe the man before them would dare to do such a thing. If the men of the world knew about this, they would surely be outraged. But they didn't dare hesitate. They quickly picked up the letter and opened it. It was from Rayleigh.
"It's from that old man, Rayleigh," Hancock said, her killing intent immediately dissipating. Moonlight sheathed his sword. After reading the letter, she understood everything. Though most of her hostility was gone, she still felt a sense of annoyance toward Moonlight. He was the first man to ever ignore her charm.
"When you see Luffy later," Moonlight said, ignoring her, "tell him I'm going to check on the others. We'll meet at Impel Down in five days." With Rayleigh's letter, he knew Luffy would be fine. Now he had to check on Nami, Zoro, Sanji, and Robin. Though he knew they would likely be fine, he had to confirm it himself. Zoro, Sanji, Franky, and Brook were strong enough to survive anywhere. But Nami, Robin, Usopp, and Chopper were another story. He knew where they had been sent, and though it would be a rush, five days should be enough time to check on them all. After that, he would force his way through the Gates of Justice and head straight for Impel Down to meet Luffy and rescue Ace. He had come to this world, and he would not let the regrets of his past life happen again.
With that, he jumped onto the sea and, using Raptor's Air Rend at full power, disappeared from sight at a speed even faster than the Thousand Sunny, leaving the Kuja pirates stunned.
"He... he actually ran directly on the sea!"
"Is he even human?"
Boa Marigold and Boa Sandersonia stared after him, their mouths agape. Everyone on the ship was equally amazed. Even Boa Hancock's pupils shrank in shock. Not only had he stopped her with a single sword stroke, but he had then run directly on the sea. Who was this man?
She didn't have time to ponder it. Not long after Moonlight had left, the Marines arrived. It was Vice-Admiral Momonga, who had come with orders from Sengoku, demanding her participation in the public execution of Ace. If she refused, her title as a Warlord would be revoked.
Hancock was already in a foul mood. Though Rayleigh's letter had explained things, the fact that Moonlight had been able to ignore her charm and had even pointed a sword at her had left her feeling extremely frustrated. Now, to have a group of Marines threatening her and trying to force her to participate in Ace's execution... her dissatisfaction immediately boiled over.
She formed her hands into a heart shape. "Love-Love Mellow!" she cried. She had originally planned to use this on Moonlight, but he had nearly killed her before she had the chance. Now, she would vent her anger on these men.
The Marines, seeing Hancock's face, were immediately captivated. They offered no resistance, their faces filled with adoration as they willingly surrendered to her charms, wishing only to kneel at her feet. A pink, heart-shaped beam of light shot from her hands, and as it passed over them, they all turned to stone.
