Love that kills.

Chapter 9: Chapter 9

He heard that voice of a nightingale that warbles to him every morning, a voice that instills in his heart and soul love, even longing, for days that he does not believe will return soon or ever. The voice was her voice, as if she had come out of his mind to confront him face to face with a charming smile saying:

- Good morning, Mr. Mahmoud.

- Morning... Good morning, Aaliyah.

- Are you okay?!

- Oh, fine... Why are you asking?!

- I knocked on the door a lot and you did not hear me.

- I was just distracted by something.

- At work or at home?

- Do you care to know?

- If it doesn't bother you.

- I'll tell you... but I have a question for you first.

- Go ahead.

- Why aren't you married yet? Or at least engaged!!

- I just... I mean... you could say it's just a matter of fate or luck.

- But you have all the qualities that make young men propose to you.

- Qualities like what? - You... are beautiful, successful, I mean... a lot of things.

- You could consider that I have an independent personality, and that's something that people don't really like. May be young men these days don't prefer marriage or aren't capable of its burdens, I don't know exactly.

- Things have really changed a lot since the past, but not for the better, unfortunately.

- Okay... what were you thinking about then?

Mahmoud looked at her thinking of something to tell her before he could speak:

- A friend of mine has a big problem, and I don't have a solution for it at all.

- What problem?

Mahmoud had never been as happy talking to anyone as he was talking to Aaliyah, who succeeded in capturing his admiration and dazzling him with her beauty, elegance and charming smile. She succeeded in arousing his curiosity and pushed him to invent a problem to continue talking to her. He didn't know what to say to her, which friend to tell her about, or which problem to complain about in the name of this friend. He was silent for a while, so she asked him again:

- Is this a really big problem?!

- Huh... Really, my friend lost all his passion for life suddenly and for no reason. Suddenly, he felt that he wasn't happy with his life.

- Really... It's a very painful thing; he has to make himself happy in any way and quickly.

- I won't leave him alone at all, and I will tell him this advice of yours.

A person continues his normal, calm life without any problems until his subconscious mind starts chattering and returning from afar to old memories and past habits. You suddenly remember your old hobbies, such as reading a novel while having a cup of tea on your balcony, fishing, playing cards or dice with friends, or longing for love during your teenage years before marriage. It's as if your mind activates your happiness hormone just by reminding you of all these memories and brings back to you the passion for the beautiful past with all its details. This is exactly what happened to Mahmoud Hefzy when he remembered his past love. His princess was a medieval princess whose faces were filled with the beauty and splendor of the queens of that era of history. Their eyes were like a deep sea whose silt you could never touch, you could only dive into and swim without reaching a shore or expecting to be saved. His teenage girl was called Amira Olwan. They were not destined to marry, as she couldn't wait for him to be ready, so her father married her to another young man. Unable to refuse any longer without convincing reasons for her family, she married five years before him. He later knew that her husband had immigrated to Australia for work and she went with him, and he hadn't heard anything about her since then. Huda, his wife, succeeded in fulfilling her role as a wife and mother to the fullest. Mahmoud loved her and gradually forgot his old love as the days passed. He lived with her for twenty-five years with love, loyalty, and happiness. Huda was the epitome of the ideal wife, making her husband happy and never burdening him with more than he could bear. She never complained or grumbled about her work or the demands of her husband and children. She was an example of sacrificing everything for the sake of everyone's happiness and maintaining stability and calm in the home.
