Lord of The Mysteries: Chained

Chapter 11: The Blood Moon and The Misdion

Caster lips curved upwards as he spoke in a solemn tone, "These ravings first originated from a certain Angel family and plagued it causing most of the members to directly lose control and go mad. The Angel Family controlled the Apprentice Pathway and affects only Beyonder's from this Pathway. If you-"

Xio interrupted Caster's explanation and hastily asked, "Tell me the way to fix such a curse!"

Caster kept on smiling as his gaze became warm, "Like I was saying, this curse only affects people from that particular family and your friend is safe if she's not from that family or has used anything with relation to it. But judging from your gaze I can understand that she has used something related to that family. How laughable!"

Caster remarked he then paused and continued, "There are three maybe two methods to eradicate the curse. First is to pray to your Deity and hope that 'He' protects you."

Fors's heart quickened; she knew the method Caster mentioned would not work. She had prayed to The God of Steam and Machinery for protection but received no response. She had also attempted blasphemy by praying to the other six orthodox Deity's, but had been ignored.

She closed her eyes in frustration and hoped that the other methods Caster mentions would aid her.

"The second way is for your friend to become a demigod, a hopeless dream if I say so myself. I can say that after a few more blood moons she'll completely lose control"

Fors soon felt light-headed, what Caster had mentioned was true, the blood moons had taken a toll on her. She was not ready to fight against the urge to lose control for years. She leaned against the alleyway trying to catch her breath, as Caster resumed,

"The final way is for your friend to pray to a hidden existence or Evil God. Though the consequences might be unsavory."

Fors's grip slipped as she fell on the rock hard tar after hearing Caster's words, "Isn't that Blasphemy?"

She asked curiously, Fors was right in this aspect. The Seven Orthodox Deity's education had been deeply ingrained into the common people, and praying to a hidden existence was one of them.

But for Caster it did not matter, he was not from here anyways and his faith in God had always been frail. So as long as he could save his life he was willing to do anything, even risk corruption.

Sometimes a person should be rash when the time calls for it, and be a coward when necessary!, Caster thought as he sighed deeply

"Blasphemy is relative, same with evil, what you might think is evil, another might think is good. Everyone has their own perspectives and their own limits, what one must do is try to push these limits and perspectives to the max without going mad. Because that is the only way humanity has survived until now."

With that said Caster hastily made his escape, he bound Fors and Xio with his chains and made a run for it.

"Wait, I have more questions-" Xio yelled out as her body struggled against the findings. Caster paid no heed to her words and quickly made his way out, he had to prepare for something much, much more dangerous.

The sun shone brightly upon the polluted City of Miracles, the incandescent light lit the tar road ablaze making the feet of the impoverished sting in pain with each step. The jet-black clouds moved toward Backlund slowly from westward giving the city a blend of eeriness and normality.

In one of the thousands of apartments that were scattered throughout Backlund, Caster quickly sent his necessaries to the Tenebrous World. This included a few C4 bombs, a dozen Frag Grenades and a bit of dynamite.

These materials were reserves in case he ran out of his supplies. Caster slung a stygian bag which carried his supplies, as he started travelling to the designated meeting point.

He arrived within 30 minutes and stood in front of Backlund's finest sewage system. Fox Me, Caster lampooned inwardly as his lips twitched.

He spotted the old man from the gathering and swiftly walked towards him, "You didn't tell me my job included going into the sewage"

Caster asked the man in an annoyed tone, as the old codger laughed heartily, "You didn't ask, did you now?. Well let's stop the chatter and get back in the matter at hand"

The man's gaze sharpened leaving no trace of his prior jolliness as he waved his hand toward the sewage system, "There are a few creatures there to say the least, your job is to hunt them down. I need at least twenty of those monsters heads and you'll get your material"

Caster's eyes narrowed, "Why can't you do it instead of wasting almost 130 pounds?"

The man chuckled and placed his hand on his body, "I would if I could but I've grown older, boy. If I was at least a few years younger I would've done it myself."

Caster's suspicion eased but he was still on guard; he nodded at the man's words and turned to face the sewage system, I guess it's time for the sewer arc eh?

Caster unhurriedly entered the pitch black sewage system which may or may not contain some eldritch lovecraftian horrors.
