Lord of Mysteries: Starting As A Reader

Chapter 752: Klein's Guess

Without much thought, the figure of Mr. Tower flashed through Klein's mind, and he immediately listed him as the primary "suspect."

Mr. Tower is extremely "erudite," so much so that he far surpasses his current Sequence, explaining all sorts of historical secrets with ease.

Mr. Tower seems to have multiple deities supporting him, which indicates that he, like me, is very special.

Mr. Tower always manages to produce Roselle's diary, and it's often a page of valuable diary entries paired with a page of meaningless "Roselle's social life"… Several times, the diary entries have been perfectly timed… For example, the one before Little Sun encountered Amon happened to contain relevant information…

Mr. Tower likes to use "Marvel" heroes as codenames, even though Roselle wrote relevant novels…

Mr. Tower invented cameras and projectors, and even drew blueprints entrusting Melissa with their creation… I only thought this was the inevitable progress of technology before… Now that I think about it, perhaps it wasn't.

The weapon Mr. Tower forged for me is the "Burial Blade," which perfectly suits Gehrman's identity. Although he didn't name it and the handle has other modes, undoubtedly, the scythe form is the most powerful and my favorite.

Mr. Tower has many female friends, and this is similar to a certain characteristic displayed by Liu Bo…

Finally, Mr. Tower always seems to be able to access items left by Liu Bo… such as Blood Feast and the Book of Astrology and Elements… I didn't know the latter was also his work until Madam Yalolan personally uttered Alvin Abraham's name. It's likely this book was also written by Liu Bo.

Add to that Mr. Tower's personal involvement in the "Daniel Labyrinth" incident. Although I still don't know exactly what happened there, according to the various pieces of information about Danitz, Sharon's teacher's brother, the so-called Daniel, or rather Danitz, could very well be a "Liu Bo" as well.

In summary, if "Liu Bo" has indeed already had contact with me, the prime suspect is Mr. Tower! Although there's no conclusive evidence yet…

Second on the list is Leonard. He also has a face that girls find appealing, seems to have significant secrets, and his identity is much closer to my Klein's identity… He even hinted at something to me.

Recalling the time after the battle with the "Clown" of the "Ascetic Order," Leonard specifically ran over and said, "There are many special people in this world who can always do things others can't, for example, you… and for example, me." Klein couldn't help but interpret it more deeply.

"If it's Leonard, that's fine… But if it's Mr. Tower…

"Would he have known from the beginning that Mr. Fool was a 'fake' transmigrator from back home?"

Recalling his audacious maneuvers in the Tarot Club, such as having "The Fool" use clever rhetoric to create an air of mystery, "Mr. Fool" learning on the spot from "Roselle's Diary," "Mr. Fool" "interpreting" Miss Justice's Chinese explanation of "little girl," and allowing "The World" to fool him with "Ode to the Humble Dwelling," with "Mr. Fool's" tacit approval…

The bits and pieces of memories made Klein's expression grow increasingly blank, and even his "Clown" ability began to lose control. He even felt like he was about to "crack."

"Calm down! Calm down! This is all just my wild guessing right now, and there's no conclusive evidence to confirm that Mr. Tower is Liu Bo…

"Actually, there's a strong possibility that he isn't! For example, although Mr. Tower has many female friends, he should still be completely pure to this day. Even if they sleep in the same bed in the middle of the night, they're just eating, drinking, and watching 'naval battles' together…

"Whereas Liu Bo, like Roselle, is 'carnivorous.' If he really were 'Tower,' then Miss Judgement and Miss Magician would probably not have been 'spared' by now…

"More importantly, Liu Bo has a close relationship with the ancient god Lilith, while Mr. Tower is backed by the Earth Mother Goddess… This doesn't match… Unless, in one of his lives, Liu Bo also managed to 'take down' the Earth Mother Goddess… That's highly unlikely… right?"

Klein genuinely wasn't sure about this. He shook his head and then thought:

"Moreover, taking a step back, even if he is Liu Bo, he might not truly know Mr. Fool's identity…

"I don't need to scare myself now…

"But what if he really does know? Not only does he know 'The Fool,' but he also knows that 'The World' is 'The Fool's' alt account, and even knows Klein, Sherlock, and Gehrman…

"No, if he truly is Liu Bo, then the aliases Sherlock Moriarty and Gehrman Sparrow would be obvious, no guessing needed.

"His… 'pleased' mood at every Tarot Club… It can't be real, can it?"

Thinking this, Klein felt a sense of dread about facing tomorrow's Tarot Club.

After taking several deep breaths, Klein finally calmed down a little and once again overturned his previous thoughts:

"If 'Tower' really is Liu Bo and recognized me as a fellow countryman, then why wouldn't he directly acknowledge me?

"Is it just to watch me 'socially die'? That doesn't make sense…

"And he starts from scratch in each life, without previous memories. When he joined the Tarot Club, he was only Sequence 7. Even if he's good at 'prophecy,' it's unlikely he'd truly know so many of my secrets.

"So, my previous worries are actually largely unnecessary… right?"

Thinking this, Klein finally let go of some of his worries and decided to subtly test him later.

Of course, it wouldn't be by directly asking Mr. Tower if his name is "Liu Bo," as that name might carry "contamination." Asking that way could harm him if he isn't.

After pondering for a while, Klein felt a certain eagerness to try it.

In his heart, even facing the serious threat of "social death," he genuinely hoped to "test" for a positive answer.

"But I can't be too hasty; I need to plan before acting… Ideally, without Mr. Tower noticing…

"After all, if it really is 'him,' I still need to figure out exactly how much he knows!

"If possible, it would be best to seize the opportunity to covertly gather some 'dirt' on him."

As for whether Liu Bo joined the Tarot Club with ulterior motives, Klein didn't consider it much. He didn't want to idly speculate on his fellow countryman's intentions. After all, although Mr. Tower always fully "utilized" Mr. Fool's functions, his help to the Tarot Club and to himself had been very significant.

For Mr. Tower, even if he wasn't Liu Bo, Klein had already come to regard him as a friend, a friend he'd trust with his life!

Afterward, after studying the Book of Calamity for a while longer, Klein left the ancient palace above the gray fog.

He then leisurely washed up and changed, went downstairs to buy a bread with cooked chestnuts and a cup of "Gulu Tree Sap," and ate while walking towards the dock.

Because he had already bought a return ferry ticket for 9 AM when he arrived, Klein timed it perfectly, preparing to board.

During this time, he bought a newspaper and found that, due to the hunt for "Iron" Maivity that night, Danitz's bounty had already increased to 4200 pounds.

Therefore, later that day, when he returned to Bayam, to his room in the "Azure Wind" hotel, he looked at a startled Danitz and slowly grinned, saying:

"Congratulations, Mr. 4200 Pounds."

This instantly stripped Danitz of his joy over the bounty increase and the chance to brag on the ship. He couldn't even manage a dry laugh, feeling that he was even more in danger around Gehrman, this madman.

He quickly changed the subject, saying, "I heard some explosive news from the 'Scented Leaf Bar.' Do you want to know?"

"Speak!" Klein glanced at him, picking up the teacup beside him.

Danitz trembled under his gaze and quickly said, "Someone spread news that Vice Admiral of Ailment Tracy betrayed the 'Demoness Sect' because she fell in love with an adventurer and is now being hunted…"

"…" Klein exerted immense self-control to avoid spitting out the tea in his mouth.

Danitz didn't notice the change in Klein's expression and continued, "The legend says Tracy and that adventurer fought a huge battle with the Demoness Sect on Symeem Island, even counter-killing several mid-Sequence powerhouses from the Demoness Sect…"

As he spoke, Danitz finally noticed the strangeness in Gehrman's eyes. He suddenly remembered that this madman had probably, maybe, possibly rushed to Symeem Island earlier, and very urgently at that… He also had the strength to help Tracy repel the "Demoness Sect"…

Could Vice Admiral of Ailment Tracy's man be him? Are demonesses that into extreme tastes?!

"What's the background of the 'Scented Leaf Bar'?" Klein asked while taking out his revolver and bullet box.

Click, click, click. Watching Gehrman load demon-hunting bullets into his revolver, Danitz swallowed hard and replied, "It used to be 'Strongman' Oziel's property, but after that guy was killed by some mysterious 'calamity,' the property fell into the hands of an unknown force. I don't know who the boss behind it is now, but under the management of 'Sea Serpent' Wyver, business has gotten even better… Now it's a very famous Beyonder trading place in Bayam."

"Strongman" Oziel… So, this property is probably Mr. Tower's now, right? After all, Oziel's "Orb of Misfortune" is currently being stored by Mr. Tower in the pile of miscellaneous items above the gray fog.

"Calamity"… Did Mr. Tower exchange for a "Calamity Charm" in the "Dream Labyrinth Tower"?

After loading the bullets, a pensive Klein casually asked, "When is the Beyonder gathering at the 'Scented Leaf Bar'?"

"Next week… but the exact day hasn't been announced yet." Danitz felt a bit nervous, fearing this madman would drag him along to rob the Beyonder gathering.

Just then, he suddenly noticed something amiss. He walked to the window and looked out, seeing the previously clear sky's clouds suddenly press down low, with continuous, seemingly endless rain.

Then, an explosive thunderclap suddenly echoed in the air. The leaden clouds quickly split, and the falling rain lost its support. In the direction of the dock, everything returned to normal.

The morning light from high above shone down, bathing Bayam as if in holy radiance.

Danitz hissed, murmuring to himself:

"What happened? Jahn Kottman changed the weather…"

Klein, at this moment, thought of that "Sea God" and mused: Is it already almost completely "mad"?

In other words, my opportunity is coming soon?

Thinking this, he blew the "Azik Copper Whistle" and began writing a letter to inquire about how to enter the "Sea God's" "divine kingdom."

As for Yalolan, he planned to practice blowing the leaf more before doing anything… Of course, more importantly, he needed to understand the requirements for the unknown stories she wanted.

.....

Monday morning, in the mirror mansion of the "Quiz Labyrinth."

After two days of rest, Vice Admiral Iceberg Edwina, now fully recovered, looked at Ebner, who was bent over a table, "transcribing" Roselle's text, and asked, puzzled, "What are you doing?"

Ebner replied without looking up, "Preparing the reward for the 'Black Emperor' card."

The three books, three cards, and the "ritual place" needed to safely enter Groselle's Travels now only lacked the "Black Emperor" card.
