Chapter 952: A way to fake the link? [1/2]
"Shit…"
Wondering how the fuck I was supposed to find a head from here, I then heard voices that made my heart sing.
'Possum, Exa tells me you've got a bit of a problem? '
'Darling! I heard you were looking for a head!'
Hearing the voices of my Italian and Aussie lovers, I couldn't help myself from smiling.
'Jo! Robyn! Yeah, I lost a leopard head in the sky. Do you mind finding it for me?'
'Okay, I am already high up; I will get Nelle to help.'
'Give me a second, Darling! Remember to prepare my reward.'
I knew where they were but didn't want to disrupt them. Receiving aid during a time of great need was a deeply wonderful experience. Especially when it is by the ones you adore. It was during times like this that I loved our {Kindred} link.
'Thanks, you two. I'm so lucky to have you both.'
"[Executioner]."
Shifting to my long-range discipline, I looked skyward. As if looking through a telescope, I saw Robyn and Zanele soaring through the skies. Surprisingly, Amari's mother was flying steadily, despite being a newbie. The two were searching up top.
But, as I observed them, I suddenly noticed the clouds in the heavens open up like something passed them. When I focused on the object cutting apart the sky, I grew impressed. It was not actually an object. But a powerful sound wave. A sonic boom.
"KYA!!!!"
As I was on the ground, I saw the effect of it passing before hearing it. Jo literally shouted upward and cleaved a path all the way to the stratosphere. I couldn't even comprehend how the hell that worked.
'Ah! Darling! I found it! Transmitting the coordinates to Exa. Jailbait make yourself useful and go fetch!'
Exa then marked a certain part of the skyline with a crosshair. I zoomed my vision and eventually saw the faint color of red liquid. As I zeroed in, I finally saw the leopard head tumbling down from up high.
'That's amazing, Jo! You really found it! You are the best!' I praised. I didn't forget to send her lovey-dovey emotions as I did so.
'Hehehe! Darling praised me! I am so happy! My level-up upgraded {Sonar}, I can focus it like a beam now! It's really useful for finding stuff!'
As Jo was explaining, I then saw a streaking comet that dove down towards the leopard's head. Like a supersonic missile, Robyn flew through the air and caught the severed head like a football.
'Hmph. I would have found it if you had given me enough time,' Robyn sulked. Even from where I stood, I noticed her shoulders slumped.
Finding her adorable, I also send her my love, gratitude, and adoration.
"Thank you, Kitten. And it's not a competition; I love you just as much. I have noticed you fly even faster than the Switchblades now. That's amazing! But don't push yourself too hard, okay? I worry."
'It's just me using [Sky Sentinel]. I'm okay. You worry too much, Possum. Once I ascend to a Specter, I will be your best Sheila!'
'Is that so? I can't wait. Both of you, if you are done, can we meet back up?' I requested.
'Huh? Why, darling? The wolves are still training. We are down to twos now!'
'Nelle and I were still going to do some drills. You need something else, Possum?'
We were not on our home turf. Excuses about safety issues or the risk of running to the demons or the other successors were valid. But the simple truth was that I just missed them. I wanted all my women to be within arm's reach.
'Uhm. Nothing much, I just miss you both.'
'Possum, don't you have Aki and Bella with you?'
'Darling, we have been gone for less than two hours. Are you serious?'
Scratching my cheek awkwardly, I apologized. Jo and Robyn were correct. I was being too overly attached. It was a common issue with couples who are still in the honeymoon period. Falling in love was fucking awesome after all.
'Well, I love Aki and Bella and we flirted a while ago. But they are they and you are you. I miss my Darling and my Kitten too. But you are right, I guess I am just too clingy. Sorry. Forget I said anything.'
But somehow, love gushed from both Jo and Robyn. Rather than getting annoyed, they gave me heartfelt and sweet replies.
'Hehehe! Darling, you are too adorable. Sit tight; I will have my lil'sis finish up using jaibait and Juno's demonkin.'
'Have at it, Nutjob; I'm on my way down, Possum. Nelle can just beat up shit on her own, without me.'
Feeling happy at how affectionate my girls were, I smiled. When I turned around to see Aki and Bella pouting. Their looks were radiating bitterness and anger.
"We are not enough for you, is that it, Anata? You use me for your stress relief but throw me away at the first chance you get?"
"Honey, it's kind of insulting that I am not enough! You didn't seem unhappy when you were fondling my boobs earlier!"
There was a grave misunderstanding. I quickly took the hands of my angry lovers.
"Aki, Bella, you know that is not true. It's like. Uhm, it's. I-I."
As I racked my brains, I felt them overheating. How the fuck do I even explain something like this? It was like the unsettling feeling when one of your things was not with you. Life goes on, but you would feel better if you had that thing.
The sense of incompleteness threw one off their game. Saying such a thing would just paint me as scum. And I couldn't even deny it.
It normally was different for people. It could be gadgets, toys, cars, collectibles, or even something as mundane as books. More relatable examples would be money, pets, or even children.
For me, that feeling was incredibly pronounced when one of the Sirens was missing. Even now, I didn't feel good as Jas, Liv, and Lilly were not by my side. But as they were in my home, protected by an army, I could endure.
"Well, Cat got your tongue, Honey?"
"Ara ara, Shujin should compensate us for such an insult."
I quickly brought their lovely hands to my mouth and kissed them.
"Whatever you want, Kamisan, let me make it up to you."
Half expecting them to make demands, I waited. Both of my girls made stern faces. Only for their composure to crumble as the two of them burst out in laughter. Their links still felt sour, although Aki and Bella were already crying from joy.
As I often used the {Kindred} links to confirm the emotional stats of my girls, seeing the dissonance threw me off. I knew using them was cheating, but it helped me manage my harem. I relied on the link a lot. What I saw now made me doubt which was true.
"Y-You… You girls figured out a way to fake the link?"
Hearing my question, Bella and Aki tried to regain their composure. After a few more seconds, they finally stopped laughing.
"I am sorry, Anata; it was Lilly's idea. To answer your question, yes, we have. It took quite a bit of effort and research, but we finally succeeded. Jas and her {Insight} were the ones who found the way to do so."
