Limitless Evolution: I Have Infinite Potential.

Chapter 49: Chapter 49: An Assassin?

The small bridge, flowing water, pavilions, and towers—all were silent witnesses as Xue Tianyi burned with rage over the humiliation he'd suffered at the banquet. He felt like he was going to explode and needed an outlet for his fury.

Fueled by alcohol, he roared at his subordinates, "Bring me some women! Right now!"

His underlings, sensing the storm in his mood, trembled. They knew someone—maybe several—was about to suffer for it. They nodded hurriedly. "Yes, Young Master!"

Drunk and staggering, Xue Tianyi shoved away a servant who tried to steady him. "Get lost!"

The servant retreated quickly, frightened by the unstable and violent heir.

Xue Tianyi wandered alone along a shaded path, the cool night breeze doing little to ease his seething temper.

Suddenly, a murderous intent locked onto him like a vice.

Whoosh!

A terrifying blade aura ripped through the air, aimed straight at Xue Tianyi's skull, intending to cleave him from head to toe.

The attacker was fast—so fast that within a blink, the strike was already overhead.

Buzz!

A sudden purple light burst from Xue Tianyi, intercepting the black blade aura and pushing back with explosive force.

"Urgh!"

The attacker let out a muffled groan, coughing up blood as he was sent flying, his eyes filled with bitter unwillingness.

"Who?!"

The ambush snapped Xue Tianyi out of his stupor. He turned sharply to face his attacker.

A disheveled middle-aged man stood there, partially hidden under a wide-brimmed hat, face covered in stubble. His sharp eyes radiated cold hatred.

Inside, the man was stunned. He hadn't expected Xue Tianyi to have some powerful treasure that could block a fatal blow at the last moment.

Even as a Unity Stage cultivator, taking down someone in the Transformation Stage should've been effortless—yet not only had he failed, he'd injured himself in the process.

"You've got some nerve, trying to kill me inside the Xue Family estate!" Xue Tianyi shouted, both shocked and enraged.

This was his home turf, with his ancestor—a Virtual Immortal—present. Who would dare try something like this?

Did the guy have a death wish?

The commotion drew the attention of the Xue Family's guards.

Swish, swish, swish!

Powerful spiritual senses converged from all directions as cultivators rushed over.

"Who's causing trouble?!"

Angry voices echoed in the air.

Seeing the guards closing in, Xue Tianyi smirked and opened his mouth to speak, but suddenly his entire body tensed, chills creeping down his spine.

The hat man's aura had shifted—it was now wild, bloodthirsty, and terrifying.

His low voice rang out like it came from the depths of the underworld, thick with murderous intent.

"If I can kill you, I don't care if I never ascend again!"

Boom!

His blood energy erupted into flames, and with a savage roar, the hat man raised his long blade and charged at the horrified Xue Tianyi.

"Crap!"

Xue Tianyi's scalp tingled as he frantically summoned his spiritual fan, a high-grade artifact rarely seen in the hands of Transformation Stage cultivators.

Compared to others in his realm, who usually used far inferior talismans, this was a powerful weapon.

Swish!

A blinding blue glow surged out, carrying immense force, but the black blade aura slashed through it like paper.

Xue Tianyi panicked, flinging out talismans and protective artifacts in a desperate attempt to buy time. Yet the black blade, driven by pure killing will, tore through every defense like it was nothing.

"Heavenly Walking Steps!"

In a panic, he activated the Xue Family's signature movement technique, narrowly evading the attack by slipping through the void itself.

But—

Pfft!

Blood sprayed as his arm was severed, flying into the lake with a sickening splash.

"Aaaaaaaaah!"

Xue Tianyi clutched the bleeding stump, howling in agony.

Driven by pain and fear, he turned and fled.

"Trying to run?!"

The hat man's eyes burned with fury. He lunged after him, blade in hand.

"Help! Someone save me!" Xue Tianyi screamed, his voice shrill with terror.

"Protect the Young Master!"

The estate's guards finally reached the scene. Several among them were early Unity Stage cultivators, and they hurled themselves forward in rage.

"Anyone who stands in my way—dies!"

The hat man roared, his aura exploding outward as he carved through the defenders without hesitation.

Though injured from the earlier rebound, he had used a secret technique to recover much of his strength. His resolve was absolute—he was going to kill Xue Tianyi, even if it cost him his life.

"Stop him!"

"Surround him!"

The air rang with shouting. Chaos erupted.

Guards fell one after another. The ground was littered with corpses, the stench of blood thick in the air.

Boom!

Several guard leaders were knocked back, their faces pale as they stared at the blood-drenched assassin.

How is this lunatic still standing?!

The hat man was soaked in blood. His bones were visible in several places, yet his vicious glare never left Xue Tianyi.

"You little bastard! If you've got guts, stop running! I'll hack you to pieces today!"

A murderous aura swept over the area.

Xue Tianyi turned deathly pale. His legs barely worked, and his voice trembled as he shouted, "Who the hell are you?! I've never even seen you before! Why are you trying to kill me?!"

"Heh. You've done too much evil. You'll never repay it in this lifetime."

The hat man's voice was ice cold.

"Fortunately, the heavens opened their eyes and gave me this one chance!"

Bloody and broken, he looked like a ghost come to drag Xue Tianyi into the abyss.

"Stay back! Don't come near me! Aaaaaah!"

Xue Tianyi's cries were hoarse with fear. He had never been this terrified in his life.

The entire Xue Family estate had been thrown into chaos.

"What's going on out there?!"

"Is someone fighting?!"

"Didn't they say someone tried to kill Young Master Xue?!"

"What?! Are you serious?!"

The banquet erupted as guests poured outside.

"Well, this took an interesting turn."

Ye Junlin rubbed his chin thoughtfully. He glanced at Hong Qianye, whose expression had grown unusually curious.

Smiling, he asked, "Little Hong, did you see this coming?"

Startled, Hong Qianye quickly lowered his head and cupped his hands. "Master, I was just speculating."

"Hehe."

Ye Junlin chuckled. He didn't expose her, but he wasn't fooled either.

He'd come expecting a simple feast with some bragging and small talk. But now that things had gotten lively, he wasn't about to miss the fun.

"Bring Bai Xiaoxi. Let's go have a look."

"Yes, Master."

Hong Qianye reached out and tugged Bai Xiaoxi's sleeve.

"Mouse still wants to drink... Just one more..." Bai Xiaoxi mumbled, clearly still tipsy.

Meanwhile, the chaos at the estate continued.

Boom!

A massive energy wave surged into the sky, darkening the once-clear heavens.

"Who dares to cause mayhem in my Xue Family?!"

The Xue Family Ancestor descended, his eyes like lightning. With a flick of his hand, a formless force swept outward.

The hat man paled.

No matter how hard he struggled, he couldn't resist. He was slammed to the ground, blood spraying from his mouth, his aura dimming.

"Virtual Immortal…"

"Young Master, are you alright?"

The guards rushed to shield Xue Tianyi. A Unity Stage leader stepped forward, voice shaking with concern.

Smack!

Xue Tianyi slapped him across the face, sending him reeling.

"Useless mutt! I nearly died! Can't you see I lost an arm?! What the hell were you all doing?!"

The man didn't dare respond, bowing his head in silence.

"And the rest of you—you're all pathetic! I'll deal with you later!"

The guards gritted their teeth but didn't protest.

"Tianyi! What happened?!"

The Xue Family Master arrived, his face stricken with panic.

Shaking with pain and rage, Xue Tianyi answered, "Father, I'm fine... just... my arm..."
