Chapter 31
At the same time.
A white shadow zipped through at lightning speed, and the scenery around was frantically shifting.
“That two-legged beast is terrifyingly scary!”
The shocking scene replayed in its mind, and the White-haired Mouse couldn’t help but feel a pang of fear deep within its soul.
In its eyes, the six clan leaders at the top of the food chain in the secret realm had been easily slaughtered by the beast.
If it didn’t run away soon, its fate would probably be even worse!
Strangely enough, it had injuries before, but they had healed in no time. What’s up with that? Was it because it ate that fruit?
Oh well, whatever! It needed to dodge that two-legged beast first!
The White-haired Mouse darted this way and that, its eyes spinning and its nose twitching, sniffing around.
Suddenly, it sensed something was off; a familiar scent was rapidly approaching.
“Oh no, that two-legged beast is coming to catch me!”
The White-haired Mouse’s fur bristled in fear, and it flailed its limbs desperately, zipping through the forest like a whirlwind.
Swish!
A rift-like ripple appeared in the void.
Ye Junlin used the Great Void Technique to rapidly cross the void and close in on his target.
“Master, is that mouse up ahead?”
[Beep, that’s right! Just a bit more effort and you’ll catch up to it soon!]
The system’s prompt went off.
“This little mouse really can run. If it wasn’t for my system, I’d probably get played by it,” Ye Junlin remarked with interest. He suddenly felt a twisted sense of fun and wanted to catch it for some mischief.
“Oh no! Why can it still outrun me? How does that two-legged beast know where I’m hiding?”
The White-haired Mouse was going crazy inside.
It felt so unlucky; it just passed by and ate a fruit, and now it was being chased for its life.
“I just want to live peacefully, why does everyone want to harm me?” The White-haired Mouse felt utterly defeated.
Boom!
A powerful wave reverberated overhead.
A massive pressure suddenly enveloped it, making the White-haired Mouse feel as if a mountain was on top of it.
It became hard to move, feeling a suffocating sensation in its chest.
“Cheep Cheep!!”
Struggling desperately, the White-haired Mouse found its four limbs lifted off the ground. It turned out its tail was pinched in the grasp of a magical hand.
Swish.
Ye Junlin landed before it, examining it with great interest.
The White-haired Mouse felt chills down its back as the silver-haired youth stared at it, thinking this two-legged beast was definitely going to eat it.
In a panic, the White-haired Mouse began to plead, “My meat is sour and really, really unappetizing! Please spare me!”
“Your meat is sour?” Ye Junlin raised an eyebrow.
“It’s true! Please believe me, my meat tastes awful; if you eat it, you’ll be tooting all day long!” The White-haired Mouse seized the opportunity, excitedly explaining.
Ye Junlin rubbed his chin, revealing a wicked smile, “Hehe, now that you mention it, I really want to try.”
He kept getting closer, his expression growing increasingly ferocious.
“Cheep!!”
With its eyes bulging, the White-haired Mouse’s pupils gradually dilated, its head tilted and fainted, drooling white foam from its mouth.
“Just scared it into fainting?”
Ye Junlin was stunned, poking its face gently and finding no reaction, his expression turning quite strange.
According to the system, this White-haired Mouse possessed a unique immortal body, the strongest among all.
Who would’ve thought it had such a weak constitution; it didn’t take much to scare it!
“Fine, I’ll just keep it as a pet.”
Ye Junlin grabbed the White-haired Mouse by the tail and casually tossed it beside a large rock.
Half an hour later.
The White-haired Mouse’s nose twitched, and it groggily woke up.
“Smells so good.”
The aroma floating in the air instantly brought the White-haired Mouse back to its senses.
“Am I still alive?”
Peeking its head up, it curiously looked around.
Suddenly, it froze!
Not far away sat a handsome young man in a black robe with gold embroidery, silver-white hair cascading down, each strand radiating a snowy glow.
He was skillfully roasting meat over a fire, the meat crisping up to a golden brown, emitting a tantalizing aroma.
Next to him was a large pot, boiling with something fragrant.
“Could it be…”
The White-haired Mouse’s heart dropped, its tiny hands frantically groping its body, relieved to find it wasn’t the source of the meat.
Seeing the other person focused on roasting, thoughts of escape popped into the White-haired Mouse’s mind.
It tiptoed, planning to sneak away.
“Come here quietly, or I’ll have to catch you again.”
A calm voice floated over.
Though it was soft, to the White-haired Mouse, it sounded like heavenly thunder.
“Master…” The White-haired Mouse approached Ye Junlin cautiously.
Suddenly, its gaze subtly shifted to the meat, drool dripping from its mouth, its stomach growling.
Ye Junlin shot it an annoyed glance, “Look at you, how pitiful! Here, take this!”
He tossed over a piece of roasted meat, and the White-haired Mouse quickly caught it with both hands, devouring it in one go without a second thought.
Crispy, juicy, and full of flavor.
The White-haired Mouse’s eyes sparkled, an overwhelming sense of happiness flooding its heart, its tail wagging with delight.
“What kind of meat is this? I’ve never had anything like it!”
Ye Junlin replied lightly, “Mouse meat.”
The White-haired Mouse: “!!!”
Staring in shock at Ye Junlin, he burst out laughing, flicking its forehead, “Silly, it’s rabbit meat!”
“Oh, it’s rabbit meat,” the White-haired Mouse licked its lips, “Poor rabbit, but it’s so delicious.”
It remembered something and cautiously asked, “Master, you really won’t eat me, right?”
It was still suspicious of Ye Junlin’s intentions.
Ye Junlin chuckled, “Why would I eat you? If I wanted to harm you, you’d be boiling in that pot by now.”
He pointed at the big pot, which was simmering with something delicious inside.
Seeing this.
The White-haired Mouse swallowed hard, its heart finally at ease.
“Master, I believe you!”
“Can I have another piece of meat to eat?”
Upon hearing this, Ye Junlin smiled, “Sure, but only if you become my disciple. What do you say?”
The White-haired Mouse was stunned.
Become his disciple? That was even more unexpected than being eaten!
“Master, is it dangerous being your disciple?” the White-haired Mouse hesitated a bit.
It just wanted to live carefreely in the forest.
Ye Junlin cleared his throat seriously, “Being my disciple means unlimited good food, and if there’s danger, I’ll protect you! You sure you don’t want that?”
Hearing this, the White-haired Mouse felt a strong temptation.
“Yes, yes, yes! I want to be Master’s disciple!”
It raised its tiny hand, all excited.
“Then hurry and greet Master,” Ye Junlin’s expression turned serious.
“Disciple Bai Xiaoxi greets Master!”
The White-haired Mouse bowed to the ground like a human, elated.
“Okay, get up.”
Ye Junlin nodded with satisfaction.
At that moment, a system prompt sounded in his mind, [Beep, congratulations to the host for completing the recruitment task, reward…]
