Lightning Doesn't Strike Twice!

Chapter 21

Kaysi...Kaysi... Wake up it's time to get ready for school. That is if you still would like to go; I understand if you don't want to from the events of yesterday. 

No, I'm fine. I just overslept a bit because I was still dreaming. 

Were you having a nightmare? You were talking about it in your sleep and tossing and turning. That's another reason why I woke you up, or else I would have just let you sleep in and skip school. 

Yeah, I did it wasn't about the fire though. I had a dream that there was an apocalypse. People were screaming and could see the demons that were trying to terrorize them. 

Oh, that sounds like a pretty serious dream. Hopefully, it has nothing to do with the future she said with an awkward laugh and smile. 

Oh, don't sweat it, Beck it's nothing serious. Oh, do you know what we forgot to do? We forgot to call Micah and tell her what happened. It's okay I guess we can tell her on our walk to school. 

Are you sure about going to school today why don't you skip and relax here? 

I'll be fine, I'm okay. One thing that bugs me though is where is Baby? Is she usually getting ready for school with me? 

Given that she is currently pretending to be a teacher, she most likely had to report early for work. The end of the year is quickly approaching, and I do not doubt that teachers are working extra hard to prepare for the final examinations. 

I guess you're right let's go ahead and meet up with Micah then. 

After we told Micah the full story of what happened. She suggested that we all call into work today after school and have ourselves a girl's day as well as a sleepover. 

I think that would be fun, let us hurry up and head to school before we are late. We're cutting it pretty close now as is. 

Once third period class came around Baby was not in her class. The other teacher who substituted for her said, that nobody could reach her so even the staff and some students were concerned. 

I have to say it's pretty evident that we need to find out where she's at after school today. We can do the girl's night another time. At least this way you'll have an excuse for your parents since we're going to be out late. 

Sourusense - alarm ringing 

Oh, it says there is a demon... right here. It is outside on the school grounds. Great timing baby is nowhere to be found. You girls distract the teacher I will do my best to see what I can do. I'll call you if I can't handle it by myself. 

Wait. Kaysi she ran off on her own is she crazy? 

Don't worry Beck, she said that she could handle it. Let her get this one maybe it'll help her take some of the edge off. I know she says she's fine but nothing has been going right; it's got to be putting pressure on her with everything. 

Hello, demon Kaysi said, you picked the wrong day to try anything. Looks like I'll be able to go to class quickly after all this one's relatively small. It doesn't seem like he has much spiritual pressure, I said hacking into the monster. 

Quick and easy work and now I can head back to class, I laughed. 

Kaysi your back that was quick Beck said, suprised? There is something that I wanted to tell you. I understand you're going through a lot of emotions here lately but you don't need to run off without us we need to stick together just in case something happens. 

No offense but you realize that I did this before you guys came. It was only recently that we formed the first Waymaker group. I can handle some things on my own. I don't always need your support I appreciate all the help that you guys have done for me but I don't need your sympathy. 

I said as I turned and walked away it was time for the next class period. 

(The class bell rings...)

Kaysi... Micah placed her hand on Beck's shoulder. 

Don't leave her be Beck. The fact that she even came to school today is remarkable. I think she just needs a little alone time to reset. We all have to go and find Baby after school today we'll meet up with her then. 

Once after school I met up with the girls there was a bit of awkward attention between us. I understand that it's probably because I snapped. I don't want them to feel sorry for me. 

I don't want anybody looking down on me as if I'm helpless. Growing up I was sick a lot so people would bully me because I was weak. Or treat me like I was fragile and going to break. 

I could tell the same look was in Becky's eyes every time she spoke to me asking me if I was okay. 

Kaysi and Beck Let's examine the residences first, shall we? Baby may have left work she could be trying to figure out something, so we'll try your previous place. Afterward, we're going to give Beck's house a try to see if we missed her. She could have taken today off since she is also going through a difficult period. 

Micah said as she looked over at me trying to imply a hint towards me. 

I said, I am fine already, now let's go check things out. 

After we checked both locations Baby was not there either. It was kind of hard for me to see the burnt Rubble and ash where my home used to be. Also, my mom is still missing. 

It's kind of been hard to slow down. I don't know if it's just because I'm trying to keep my mind off of everything. Or if I'm trying to avoid some of these emotions I am feeling. I just know I have to keep going forward. 

I think the next place that we need to search for is maybe over at the training grounds. Let's head over there and see if she's there. 

All right that sounds like a plan Micah said, as she elbowed Beck for being quiet.

I'm sure she was still upset at me. I don't have time for that right now to talk things over. 

Once inside everything seemed different a bit off. Everything looked the same and in place. There was an eerie fog and cloudiness inside. I don't know how this atmosphere works, inside this cave buried underneath the mountain, this strange other world. 

I think maybe we should split up since we'll be safe here and can cover more ground looking for Baby. We can call each other when we find her or if you find the end of the plateau. 

Kaysi, I don't think that would be a good idea. We haven't exactly searched around here before, it's not like we have a map and one of us could get lost especially in the thick fog. 

We can just use this as a starting point and come back here if need be. 

Look I'm telling you it's not a smart idea I have a gut feeling. I understand that you've been dealing with a lot. I hate to say this but you have not been thinking rationally. I was the only one that seemed to have a level head right now I don't think it's good that we split ways here. 

Well, I guess Beck didn't get the memo then because she's not here. 

Wait... what? Micah said it as she spun around looking in the different directions for Beck. You have got to be kidding me. When she heard you talking about splitting up she must already left. We need to go together and try and find her. Then we can look for Baby.

Are you serious right now? Beck will be fine we can call her on her phone and she's in this safe area. You already know that this place is covered with a protective barrier. 

Finding Baby right now should be a priority because she's been missing all day and she hasn't been located in any place that we've gone to. This is pretty much the last area we can find her. 

I understand that and we can try and get a hold of her on her phone but you forget Beck is the only one without any form of power. She has a small protection ability but that's not much. 

I understand the barriers but we don't know how far that goes. What if she somehow exits the barrier? We don't know how many tunnels there are outside this dwelling we've only entered through one. 

Guys! You are yelling so loud that I heard you I was just beyond the trees. Stop freaking out so much I am right here Beck announced. 

Kaysi if losing a dog is that much to you we can go find her. It's not that big of a deal to go and find your dog. 

My dog that's all you got to say. She's more than a dog she's also our teacher our trainer. Also, we're not the only ones looking for her the school was buzzing about why and where she disappeared. 

I don't understand why you're freaking out so much about a family pet. 

Are you seriously trying to pick a fight with me? Is it because of what I said to you earlier? You know ever since we got in here. All you've been doing is acting extra weird wondering off and now how you're talking? 

Beck, I think it's time you and Kaysi apologize to each other. Both of you guys are taking it way out of proportion. Beck, you already know what Kaysi's going through and it's hard for her. She hasn't been able to have alone time to reset or process everything yet. 

I told you I'm fine Jesus what is your guy's problem? Stop trying to Pity Me. You guys have known me for a long time. The last thing I want is for you guys to look down on me. 

We don't! We are your friends Kaysi, we understand that this is a serious circumstance that you've gone through. 

Oh, that's right I forgot you don't want us to look down on you. Because you want to control us. You're always trying to be the leader of the pack. Feeling high and mighty barking orders of your needs. You try to keep everything under YOUR order obeying as you say and wish. 

Whoa... Rebecca that was way too far I understand you guys are upset at each other but you all need to calm down and not be so hostile Micah said in shock and disbelief. 

Excuse me that I've been trying to look out for you guys since day one. Yeah, I may act like I'm trying to keep everything in order. It is only because I have more experience and I'm hoping to stop any more people from going missing. 

Kaysi you don't need to explain yourself Micah said to me, as she could see that I was starting to tear up. I understand you just want to protect us. She leaned over and hugged me. 

Becky I'm not trying to pick sides here but you have been quite out of line... Why are you smiling like that? What's wrong with you? She paused looking at Beck.

Micah, I pushed her way, step back, I don't think that's Becky. 

Becky's body was disfigured and engulfed in flames. The Phoenix demon ripped out from Becky's body double. There he was standing before us that same demon. 

You bastard, all this keeps happening because of you! You're the one that took everything from me! 

KAYSI, DON'T, you don't know how to fight that thing! 

I landed a hit on him before, I could do it again!
