Chapter 43: Chapter 43: Crashing Entrance
Chapter 43: Crashing Entrance
I'm really not sure what happened after that, as the room suddenly became very loud, so I just shut down my hearing so I wouldn't have to worry about it. Maybe it was important, but as long as it won't hurt me, or displease my friend, then how important can it really be?
All I know is that the moment a teacher intervened to stop the situation, it was already time to return to our class. So after waving at Cynthia and wishing her good luck, I started to walk toward my next class, which according to the schedule, was a history class.
It didn't take too much time, as once more, we were met with a similarly designed class, except this one was way more colourful. Instead of the pale boring wall, we had walls that looked like they were made out of marble, and multiple row of pillars was installed in between them, creating a really nice pattern.
But I wouldn't have minded them to look the same way as before if it meant we could keep our previous seat.
Indeed, as we were now invited to sit on a marble bench that had absolutely no cushion to make it nicer. That table was also as cruel, as there was no leg to put our leg under, forcing them to be constantly compressed against their wall.
I wasn't the only one bothered by this, with the obvious face of dissatisfaction from the other student, but I was also the only one who decided to stay up in protest.
Allister ended up questioning me about it. "Luciel…why don't you sit?"
"Because I don't like the seat." I answered firmly as I crossed my arms.
Allister only looked at me with more surprise, but it was Iono who explained why he even started to gaze me that way. "I didn't take you for someone to complain about your comfort? I was thinking you were more the type to just take anything someone gives you whether you like it or not…and most of the time, you dislike it."
Her words were true, in most circumstances, I would even be happy to be allowed to sit, but this time was one of the rare events where I could allow myself to get angry.
One, where I had the authorization to be.
"It's because I know who the teacher for this class is, and I was given the order to be the most bothersome I could be to him."
I said as I remembered the advice Joy told me. 'Remember Luciel, some people will try to dominate you again with how innocent you look, so in these situations, make sure to stand proud to show you are not to be walked on.'
That what she said to me, and I made sure to remember her words well because she was showcasing a poképuff right in front of me at that time.
Mina looked at me in confusion and inspected me head to toes, before looking at her wrists as if she wanted to confirm something. "How do you know? It said nowhere who this person is…and even ignoring that…how could a teacher be that hated that they ask you to be a bother to him?"
I shook my head at her statement. "I wasn't asked to specifically bother him…I was just told that I had to stand strong against him, so of course the best way for that is to be a bother!"
"…aren't you an Archon…how stronger do you have to appear to scare away a bully…no, even better, why do they have a bully among their teacher ranks? That doesn't make sense. Shouldn't he be fired? Or maybe they just can't? But I doubt anyone can resist…" Mina stopped talking as she suddenly saw me shaking all over.
A deep sense of fear coursed through my mind, but it didn't come from me. A quick look at Pandora would be enough to understand that he was the one truly scared right now.
Me and him instantly locked our gaze toward the ceiling, and in confusion, my friend followed my gaze to see whatever it was. Some other classmate also noticed their behaviour and did the same.
But nothing happened, so one student looked back at us."…what is it?"
Ding dong ding
Suddently, to bell that signalled the start of the class reigned. but before any of the student could wonder why the teacher wasn't there yet, they heard a loud noise coming straight from above them.
*CRASH**BRIII* *SPLASH*
The student didn't even have the time to close his mouth as the ceiling was suddenly destroyed, and with it, the dead body of a human splashed against the ground and made all of its organs fly over the class.
They barely had the time to react as most of their face were covered in human blood, and some unlucky ones were even drenched in some crushed organ or meat paste.
The only one who could react in time was Sabrina, but she prioritized stopping the rock from falling over our classmate over the blood, which soon rendered her also covered in blood, to her own disgust.
They blinked a lot of time, as they tried to digest what was happening, or what that taste was inside their mouth, and it was just enough time for all the blood to start to leave their body, and slowly move to where the broken body was in the first place.
Blood, organ, muscle, all of these components slowly reassembled themselves to give back life to the corpse which slowly stood up with an outfit that wasn't even slightly damaged despite the fall he had just made.
Soon, the man was already standing perfectly fine, as if nothing had happened, with his only bother being the slight dust on his outfit.
As he finished cleaning it, he looked at us with an unbothered gaze. "I'm not late am I? I really hope not, my vacation wasn't accepted by the department in the end, so if I'm late, then I fear they might fire me too." Volo scratched his blond hair as he acted as if he truly had any problem with the situation. But soon, his gaze widened in panic as his eyes lay on me.
As I was the only one not seated, I was the only one impacted by the strong wind blast from the shock of his fall, so I fell right on the desk behind me.
My back hurt a lot, but at least I could rejoice from the fact that none of my bones were broken.
But before I could fall back on the floor, I suddenly felt a gust of wind around me, which raised me above the ground.
"Sorry Luciel, but I have a restriction on how close I can stand to you, and sadly, right now, you are too close, so let me correct that.
Before I could have the chance to scream, the wind suddenly threw me right at the end of the class.
I thought that this time for sure my back would break, but it seems the meltan inside the wall transformer matters of the wall to soften my impact.
But my impact was still enough to gather back their mind about what was happening.
"KYU! (LUCIEL!)" Pandora started to run toward me in panic.
"Blergh." Some student also blanched from the experience, and some even tried to throw up on the ground, but it was as if the air didn't allow them to do so, as they started to fill up their mouth to stop their gags.
This was the same for those who tried to scream, as they were immediately shut down by the atmosphere. This effect created an extremely eerie effect, as the whole class were incapable of acting out of their will, and could only glance at what they could only interpret to be Giratina coming deep from the distortion world.
Of course, whether Volo knew about what they were feeling was barely a mystery, as despite his smiling calmly at the front of the class, it was clear he knew very well what he had done. "Ah, how lucky am I to have such a polite class, look at all of you staying silent while the teacher is talking! I will have to make a complaint to the council. I was told that you would be the most disturbing class, but clearly they were wrong!" He swiped under his eye as if he tried to remove a tear of joy, but clearly there was nothing.
I doubt he could even muster a tear anyway.
Suddenly, Volo hit himself on the head. "Ah, how could I forget! You don't want to call me! What incredible mistake you are making, but I, as your teacher, will correct this immense error! As you see, my name is the illustrious…"
"Volo, what are you doing?" Volo's smile turned into a frown as he looked up at his classroom to see Geeta standing up there with a cold face.
"…greeting my new student, wasn't it clear?"
"Really, because all I can see right now is you bullying your students." Geeta said while turning my head toward me as I awkwardly greeted her with a wave of my hand.
Geeta raised an eyebrow at it, especially when she considered that I was still slowly falling on the ground, but she still returned it with a professional smile. "Hello Luciel." But her smile disappeared as she turned her head to look at Volo. "Do I have to waste my time even more?"
"Tch, don't act like you didn't prepare your whole day for this. The only reason why you were able to arrive that fast was because you already knew what I would do." Volo argued, but he shut his mouth when he saw her reaching for her pokeball.
He first raised an eyebrow as if he was asking if she was serious, but the clear lack of amusement in her face was his answer.
Volo looked at her in contempt as his hand slowly lowered toward his own pokeball, and as he caressed them, Geeta's expression could only worsen as her grip on her own mechanism became tighter.
But Volo suddenly removed his grip on it and raised his arm, and as if by magic, every student exhaled all the air that was forced into their mouth.
"Alright then, I thought I could have some more fun, but clearly I'm not allowed to, so be it." Volo shrugged his shoulders as he ignored the fear of his student.
*Slam*
He also ignored me falling to the ground from he released his grip on me. Before I could do any other action, Pandora finally arrived beside me and helped me stand up.
Geeta fixed him for a long time, but turned around when she saw that he would probably not cause any more problems for the time being.
"He won't cause any problem now, and if he does, notify me immediately. "With a last look at the class she closed the door behind her.
The student's eyes widened when they realized what had happened, and one even tried to jump out of his seat. "Wait! Don't leave us with this psychopath! Please send us to the other class! We promise we will do exactly what you want of us!" The student screamed, but he was only met with silence.
Of course it wasn't because he was the only student who thought this, but because everyone realized that it was better to shut up now that the only person who seemed to have any authority over him was gone.
"Oh, you think I'm a psychopath." The student's entire body trembled as he felt a gust of wind right beside him. He had no need to turn to realize who was right beside him, as his whole breath grew cold. "Oh, you look so pale, do you need to see a nurse?" The voice seemed way more empathic than earlier, but it didn't stop the fear from possessing him.
"Well, I'm sure you can at least endure my class right? You wouldn't want to disappoint me, right?" Volo said with a smirk on his face as he started to pet his head.
The classmate could only nod nervously, as he stood up to reach his chair once more, and made sure not to cross his eyes with him.
In fact, everyone's head lowered as Volo walked back to his desk with a calm attitude, before slowly turning his head to look at Sabrina. "Oh right, feel free to report to Geeta how I handled this situation perfectly."
This felt like a threat to everybody, but Sabrina knew very well that it was directed at her specifically, and for a reason that she knew very well. So for once, she couldn't help but tremble in fright, which only made Volo happier.
"Now, as I wanted to say before being rudely interrupted, my name is Volo Heaven, and you probably know me for my great compassion and…" Volo's smile slowly shut down as he looked at our expression, before sighing in regret. "Yeah no, this isn't working anymore, I lost all my momentum…most of you are only thinking of running away instead of listening to me…" He said in exasperation while sitting down on his own chair that I couldn't help but notice that it was more modern and comfortable than what he offered us.
"Guess I will just find another way to have fun for our next class…for now let's just do what I was so gently asked to teach you." I heard an audible gulp from multiple student at the mention of the next class, but their attention was drawn back to him the moment he stood up.
"Alright, so history class…alright…so if I remember well, I was supposed to start the class by explicating its worth in our modern society…" Volo said as he inspected his Meltan consistently, which actually surprised me surprise that he was actually willing to put some effort into this class.
As he was inspecting his meltan, I thought about rejoining my previous seat, but I was pretty sure that if I approached him again, he would just throw me away, so I had no choice but to sit alone at the last row…and the chairs were indeed as uncomfortable as I thought…
"…well that a lot of optimists…do you guys really want to hear that?" He suddenly addressed the class as he asked a genius question, but of course every one of us was too confused or scared to even know what he was talking about. But it seems he interpreted our lack of answer as a confirmation. "That's what I thought, none of you want to hear the boufacrap about learning from our past to not commit the same mistake and blablabla. None of you will ever have any importance, so your choice doesn't matter."
"So instead of talking about the different side of the Broken War, and the reason why such a stupid source of personal headache even started, and why it is surprisingly not my fault…a lot of people believed that actually, that even I started to think I caused it." Volo murmured between his breath before shrugging. "Well I would have done a better job if I really started it, so I guess that's all the proof you need. But you didn't come to this history class to hear about me…" Volo paused for a moment before considering another point. "Well, maybe you have actually…they do talk a lot about me in history book…but if anyone has a better understanding of the situation I was in…well, it would be me, isn't it?"
"Well what about I talk to you about a history that only I know all the details! A story that some were willing to kill to have a single drop of information from! And yet I will give it to all of you…for a small price of course." Volo smiled as he reached his arm toward us.
"The…the price won't be our life…right?" Allister asked the question everyone was thinking, but he paled even more than he usually looked when Volo ported his gaze toward him.
"Oh, please don't put that much value on your life…" Volo slowly approached Allister with a smirk on his face. The gosht esper immediately lowered his head in fear as he hugged his plushie in the hope it would save him. "After all, this is something I can easily take whenever I want." He suddenly reached his hand toward Allister's neck, but he suddenly took a step back, letting a dark tendril pass right in front of him.
He looked in amusement as the tendril completely performed on the ground, before looking at Pandora with a teasing face. "No need for such violence, that's inappropriate in a school setting."
Pandora trembled even more at his remark, but he calmed a little once I caressed him to his side. "Thank you Pandora…for protecting my friend."
Pandora looked back at me in worry before retrieving his tendril the fastest he could, still scared of what Volo would do in return. But in the end, he didn't react more than that, which slowly make Pandora relax even if a little.
Allister also looked back in recognition before taking back his attention toward Volo who stepped back toward his desk. "Now, the only thing of value that you have that could be worth the information I'm going to give you is that you are entertaining. So, let's play a fun little game for the rest of the year." Instantly, we could feel the air around us gather at the center of the class, and condense itself until it formed a cloud of mist. "The rules are simple, for each class, I will tell one lie about our subject. And each question in your exam will be only about these lies, and I expect you to tell me the truth. You will need to search deeply into any history book in our library to get the right answer, so you will have to constantly study for the future text, and listen to my explanation very carefully."
The students looked at each other in confusion, before one carefully raised their hand. "So…if we don't succeed on these tests…what will happen?"
Volo sighed at this question as he could only lower his hand in defeat. "Sadly, I'm more restricted than you think, all the student of this Academie have the protection of the Great Slaver, so I suppose the only thing I can really do is to kill all of your family, friends, village, town, region…so not really something that will affect you." At first, the student paled considerably at his threat, until they started to look at each other in confusion.
"Well… It's not that bad actually…"
"Yeah…I might as well just fail his test voluntarily now."
"But what if he decides to go after us then…he's clearly only doing this because he wants to threaten us, but if it's no longer a threat but a reward…"
"Hmm…maybe we could just act like it's a tragedy in front of him?"
This wasn't the only murmur I could hear across the class, in fact, most shared the same sentiment. Few of them were actually sincere, they just said that to hide their unease about the situation…I hope
Of course if I was able to hear them, so was Volo, as despite him trying to keep his face straight, I could notice him slowly losing his joy in his face. "Yes, yes, I know how fun it is to have your entire family getting murdered, I did the same…so I can't really blame you for that." Volo scratched his head as he addressed the whole class.
"Well, nothing we can do about it, homicide is an even deeper partner than pokemon, so it's great to see you advance this long-lasting tradition." Volo shrugged his concern before manipulating the mist he put at the center of the class to form the shape of…an egg?
The reason why I was confused about its identity was that it was a completely different design from the one I had to protect. Instead of some white fur covering a brown shell, this egg looked more like a closed fist of an unknown material.
As if to answer our confusion, Volo started his explanation, "This is a sight that many of you must not know, except if you are in a mythic clan, so let me give you the introduction. This is where Arceus was born, a simple egg."
The whole class gasped in surprise at the revelation, and even Sabrina had her eyes wide open in surprise. This must mean that this egg must really be important…and whoever that Arceus was.
But as if he wanted to prove my thought wrong, he zoomed out of the egg, just to reveal an infinity of them placed everywhere in the starry space. "But he wasn't the only one born like that, in fact, every single living being on every planet originates from the being born from these eggs, each of them having the title of god. Our planet was simply blessed to have a more competent one in charge."
The sight of the image changed, just to show that for everywhere that had an egg previously, now only had a wrecked planet, exploding star, burning civilization, with only the rare few looking like they were in good condition, and even rarer those who still had a civilization.
But he once again ignored all of those points to augment the screen back to the first egg he showed us. "But let's not talk about how hilarious that the highest being on our planet is basically a cheap product, to instead show its worth."
The image changed again to showcase the egg slowly letting a white being with no features leave out of the egg. I wasn't able to see clearly any of its other characteristics, as Volo immediately glossed over it, probably because he too didn't know much.
Soon, we were exposed to a sight we were much more familiar with, the one of the mythical Arceus, known for creating this world and all of those living in it. And for once, our knowledge seemed to correspond to that one of Volo, as the next image he showed us was no different from multiple religious books.
As with one step, Arceus created a billion of black beings that almost looked like letters that all circled around Arceus to form a type of invocation.
The flesh of these beings wasn't used to form the body of the invocation, but instead looked more like words or sentences, as if they wrote the invocation directly into the will of the cosmos. And soon, it followed its new order, as three massive beings, egalising Arceus might were created out of the void.
The ruler of time, Dialga.
The ruler of space, Palkia.
And lastly, the ruler of antimatter, Giratina.
With their power combined, they created a core, the core of our planet.
But this was where the surprise began, as the moment the four deities finished their work, they all turned against Giratina and sent him deeper into a void devoid of time or space.
This was surprising because according to what we learned, Arceus only banished Giratina to the Distortion World after Giratina tried to destroy the world to make it devoid of matter. Yet in the image Volo just showed us, it was clear that they did not wait for him at all to have any intent to banish him, as if it was planned from the start.
"Ah ah! I found the lie! Arceus didn't banish Giratina to the Distortion world until he…" A student confidently said, but he was stopped by a small ball of air hitting his brow.
"First, raise your hand when you want to be impertinent. Second, I'm way more talented at lying than this, so please don't underestimate me." Volo said as he stopped the video. "Now, of course this goes against all of your previous knowledge, so let me explain things more clearly. First, as sad as I am from this fact, Arceus did not betray Giratina, and it is true that he was going to reduce to world into antimatter if he was let loose."
The student pushed a sigh of relief as they realized that they wouldn't receive the most shocking revelations of their life today, but Volo still rapidly shut down their hope. "However, does no one here wonder why Giratina was created in the first place? I mean, he is the ruler of anti-matter, why would Arceus create a being so against his desire of creation?"
This question stumped a lot of people with their thoughts. "Well…maybe he was just feeling that everyone deserves a chance to try?" A student tried to answer, but Volo shook his head.
"I won't insult you for your answer because you do are right about how he thinks. But no, the reason wasn't from his infinite kindness, nor a lack of his infinite wisdom, but because he was forced to by the law of retribution."
