Chapter 274: Road to Becoming a Village (3)
'That's…a lot of summons running around the cavern…not really a good idea…' Mulling over the idea of getting 500 new summons out of the blue, Aoni didn't allow himself even to consider it as a plausible idea, at least at first that is…
'I mean, if I start colonizing the space outside the fort and expand the perimeter of the wall…no no, getting ahead of yourself, Aoni, steadddy, stay steady…'
---
Across the room, Charlotte shook her head while watching her brother look around the air like some kind of crazy person. Sure, she knew that he was in the midst of an internal monologue, but long ago, she'd understood Aoni was a bit…touched in the head.
"Say…Nyri, how often does Ao zone out like that these days?" She asked while calmly looking down at the birb, who was completely unbothered by her Lord, basically silently talking to the air.
"Chee, chee clack."
{'Ummm, not sure, I guess all the time, but we are so used to it that it's pretty easy to ignore.'}
"Umu, that's fair…" nodding her head in understanding, Charlotte decided to drop the subject and instead observe the two little light fairies playing around in Glacia's fur.
{'Sissy Soft…'} Guu said while huggling a tuft and using it like a pillow.
"Gaooo."
{'Glaci not sissy, dat sissy, Glaci big sis!'}
"Kuuu," in a melodic, almost sigh-like voice, Kuu seemed to understand relatively well, considering that she was CLEARLY way smarter than a normal 1-Star monster should be.
{'Twinny, shes Big Sis, not sissy, mhm mhm,'}
"Guuu…"
{'You right, Twinny, fluffy big sis, not Sissy.'}
"Gao???"
{'Sissy is Glaci fluffy?'}
"Mm…very fluffy and pretty, too," Charlotte added with a warm smile that could melt the heart of anyone watching.
---
'Ugh, so many voices in my head,' Knocking his temple, Aoni grumbled while quickly tuning out the sugary conversation happening behind him and finally picking up a Grade-1 Summoning node with a rune resembling a quadrupedal monster.
'Although I need humanoids to represent subjects, that doesn't stop me from trying to summon other things; we will try this for the shiggles *shits and giggles*, although, with my luck, things would get outta hand.' Spinning the smooth stone in his hand, Aoni quickly crushed it in his palm, triggering the light to spread across his hand and he placed it against the Flume, triggering another summoning.
However, this time, the light emitted by the Flume came out similarly to when he did his original Multi-summon.
Four orbs, three of which were grey and one red, manifested out of the artifact and hovered in place, causing both Char and Aoni to make a similar HUH sound.
"That's new; what kind of node was that?" Gathering her wits much faster than Aoni, Charlotte stated, drawing the attention of the gaggle of summons surrounding her.
"It…was one of the Nodes I found in the Ruins," Aoni stated with a hint of caution in his voice while reaching up and moving the Red Orb closer to his face.
"I thought it was a standard quadruped Summoning Node, but at Grade-1, it shouldn't be able to bring out four beings at a time." As he spoke, Aoni tried to use his Inspection Display, only to come up with no answers.
Not even his Attribute Notice was talking when asked about the odd number of orbs or any differences between the nodes he normally used and this one.
"Well, I guess there's no point in trying to figure things out the hard way when the simplest method would be to…"
With a loud POP, the orb of light burst into particles and molded itself into the shape of a giant, person-sized…
"Dog?"
"It's a wolf, you moron, big, fluffy, and cute, but some breed of wolf." Leaning forward slightly, Charlotte corrected while Aoni felt a wave of memories wash over his mind, while the LoS was forming between him and his new, horse-sized summon.

"Gulp…hey there…big guy…" Taking a step forward and watching as the Wolf's icy blue eyes morphed into the same Emerald as himself and summons, Aoni had to admit he was a bit intimidated by the sheer visage this new summon cut.
Standing a bit taller than Aoni on all fours, the summon looked far more like a wild animal than a tamed beast, with Icy blue fur, extremely sharp teeth, piercing eyes, and deep blue jagged markings running along its flank and face resembling teeth.
Then there were its paws, as big as Aoni's entire head and tipped with claws as long as daggers.
"Grrrrr…"
{'My Lord, you have my appreciation for bringing life to me and summoning me to your territory. My unyielding loyalty in both battle and protection of this land belongs solely to you, also my Lord, would you please bestow this humble servant a name.'} A deep male grumbling voice, far deeper than his Dad's, entered Aoni's mind. Yet, for how intimidating it sounded, Aoni could tell there was no hostility or malice in its tone, simply respect and gratefulness toward him.
Wearing a faint smile, Aoni stepped forward and placed his palm on his new wolf's forehead, but before he could spit out the first name which came to mind, a certain sister sternly interjected, as she knew damn well what he was going to say next.
"Ao…don't do it…he doesn't have a horn and isn't a Tempest wolf."
"COUGH, I…have no idea what you are talking about, Char…" Flinching slightly at her chiding, Aoni looked up at his new summon and noticed a hint of humor in its eyes.
"Kuro…your name will be Kuro."
"Grrr…"
{'Kuro…thank you, my lord…now if you would please be so kind…'} Gently turning his massive head, Kuro turned to look at the remaining three orbs floating silently behind him.
"Ah, yeah, wait…you know what they are?"
{'Yes, my Lord, they are what remains of my pack. Although I don't know much else, I can sense my wives and child's spirits within those floating orbs of light.'}
