Chapter 204: The Truth, Arrest, Plan B
Team 5 Investigation Unit, Office Area.
"William Brooke, a resident of New Jersey, is 48 years old this year."
Based on the sketch produced according to Trunner's description, William and several technical agents successfully found relevant information about the subject in the FBI's internal database:
"This guy served in the military when he was younger, and his military records show that he was very eloquent and excelled at impromptu speeches."
This didn't surprise Agent Luo An; if the other party wasn't eloquent, he couldn't have possibly bamboozled Connor Trunner to this extent.
Seeing the reckless and unbridled face of William Brooke in the sketch, Luo An twitched his mouth, took a sip of coffee, and asked while sitting in his chair:
"And then what?"
"Then he was kicked out of the military."
Mona shrugged her shoulders, pointing to the information on the computer screen:
"William here once cheated at poker while playing with his own regiment leader and got caught on the spot, so he was kicked out of the army.
After leaving the military, he repeatedly went in and out of federal prisons for a laundry list of charges, including illegal possession of firearms, intentional injury to others, theft, resisting arrest, drunk driving, and manslaughter."
"Wow, quite the 'stellar' individual."
Looking at the information on Mona's computer, Luo An commented with a smile and continued to ask:
"So, he held a grudge against Councilman Emmanuel Bain?"
Mona shook her head:
"No, it should be said that it was his son who had a beef with Emmanuel Bain."
"What?"
Reesi, who was beside them, was somewhat surprised. William Brooke looked like this and he had a son?
Rolling her eyes at Reesi, Mona continued to explain:
"William's son is named Henry, who once joined Cody's newspaper.
A while ago, Henry left the Cody Newspaper with some radicals, and not long after, he was imprisoned for protesting against Councilman Emmanuel in violation of legal regulations and resisting arrest."
"And then William set Councilman Emmanuel Bain as his target for revenge."
Agent Luo An nodded. This style was very much in keeping with the simple customs of America.
At the same time, Trunner not only opposed Councilman Emmanuel but also had political disagreements with the political group Comit was a part of.
But Trunner didn't have the intention to kill Councilman Emmanuel until he met William in the "Black Forest" bar.
After a few drinks, William got the information he wanted from Trunner's mouth, and with his impressive eloquence and political slogans, he steadied Trunner and started to make him produce Molotov cocktails.
Trunner decided to join William based on the condition that William would take him along to successfully set Comit's political group ablaze with Molotov cocktails.
"Everything's connected now."
After listening to Mona's narration, all the agents nodded in agreement and then looked at Luo An with admiration.
If it wasn't for Luo An successfully getting Trunner to talk, given William's years of experience dodging and hiding, it would have likely taken a considerable amount of time to clarify the actual situation of the case and catch William.
"Well done!"
Augustus, standing at the front of the office area, also gave Luo An a smile before turning his head to Mona:
"How about it, have you found where William is hiding now?"
"It's simple."
Mona smiled broadly, indicating that although William was cautious, he was getting on in years and didn't understand computers or networks, let alone know that the FBI had facial recognition information on outstanding social individuals like him who had been incarcerated multiple times.
Opening up the FBI's internal database network, Mona's fingers danced across the keyboard, swiftly locating him:
"That guy's now hiding in Sussex County, New Jersey!"
——
Sussex County, located in the upper left part of New Jersey, has a population of around 140,000. While it's only a county in terms of administrative divisions, the area is relatively large.
Adding to that, since Mona only found that the person was hiding in this county, but not the exact location, it still took a significant amount of time for the agents of Team 5 Investigation Unit.
The next morning.
"Ladies and gentlemen, this is the abandoned factory where Willkin Brook is hiding."
A few blocks away from the abandoned factory, in an empty apartment, Luo An explained the situation on the ground to Agent Reed and two SWAT teams with a serious face:
"According to our investigation, not only does this factory contain a small number of Molotov cocktails, but also a few rifles and handguns.
In addition, apart from Willkin Brook himself, there are five middle-aged white men with military experience."
All of them were Willkin Brook's comrades-in-arms when he was younger, and the reason they gathered here has not been unearthed by William and others.
After receiving the photographs of these individuals from Luo An, the two SWAT teams quickly circulated them, discussed the operation plan, and then immediately left the apartment and got into their vehicles.
Different from the usual practice of blowing the doors open with plastic explosives, Luo An's plan this time also involved contacting two police officers from New Jersey, asking them to drive a tow truck and noisily tow away Willkin's newly purchased car.
If Willkin noticed and came out to intervene, everyone could swarm him and easily take him down, and then slowly deal with the remaining few people.
The two SWAT teams prepared at the designated position, and Luo An nodded:
"Action!"
Upon hearing this, the two New Jersey police officers immediately started the tow truck and moved next to Willkin's new car.
Buzz buzz buzz—
As the machine's forks slid under the new car, a huge noise instantly filled the area.
Within seconds, the warehouse door was opened, and a middle-aged white man, looking very displeased, came out and shouted at the two police officers:
"Hey! What the hell are you doing?"
Seeing that it wasn't Willkin Brook who came out, Agent Reed and the SWAT team members felt a bit disappointed.
However, Luo An didn't care about this setback—they still had a backup plan.
Without hesitation, Luo An immediately pressed the communicator:
"Plan B! Begin the operation!"
"Roger!!!"
As soon as he finished speaking, two SWAT members who had been lying in wait immediately leaped from beside the tow truck and, before the middle-aged white man could react, put him into a deep sleep with a punch and a kick.
Meanwhile, fully armed Luo An and Agent Reed, each leading a team of SWAT agents, rushed into the front and back doors of the abandoned factory holding their weapons.
Confused by the sudden appearance of police with the tow truck, apart from the middle-aged man who came out to investigate, the rest of the people in the factory quickly headed towards the main door, ready to check what was happening outside.
Then they saw the SWAT members bursting into the warehouse.
"Don't move!"
"Put your hands up!"
"Place your hands where we can see them!"
Hearing the shouts of the SWAT team and seeing the weapons in their hands, the expressions on the faces of Willkin and the other middle-aged men changed instantly.
As they had heard the tow truck and realized the police had arrived, most of them left their heavy weapons inside the warehouse, carrying only handguns.
But before they could reach into their jackets to grab their handguns to return fire, the SWAT members had their rifles pointed at the men's foreheads due to the close distance.
"Damn it!"
"Son of a bitch!"
Their faces became uglier, one after another cursing the FBI for their lack of martial ethics.
Including Willkin, there were five middle-aged white men standing at the warehouse door.
There were 20 SWAT members at the front and back doors, four for each person, leaving only one Luo An and one Agent Reed on the scene.
Stuffing the cursing Willkin and others into the transport vehicle, the admiring and smiling SWAT agents looked at Luo An, the planner of this operation.
This mission was so easy and successful; these SWAT members now had bragging rights for their future drinking sessions.
Unless something unexpected happens, the competition among several SWAT teams will probably intensify when they hear that Agent Luo An from the fifth investigation team needs operational support.
Luo An didn't see the looks from the SWAT members because Agent Reed had just made a new discovery in the warehouse.
Following the direction Reed pointed, Luo An's brow furrowed.
Because he saw a pile of blasting caps, C4 explosives, and detonation cords.
