Legendary Architect of Apocalypse

Chapter 55: Corruption of a Lost Constellation

....

Elias was swallowed by darkness as the door consumed him. The next moment, he felt heavy winds rushing against his body.

When the darkness disappeared, he understood the reason for the heavy winds. It wasn't that the winds were strong. It was simply because he was in the middle of the sky, falling to what felt like a certain death.

He was hundreds of meters high, with a black forest below. Even the trees here had black leaves, instead of the normal green he was familiar with.

He didn't see Rey anywhere, which made him think that Rey had already landed. Rey was someone who could use winds to survive a fall like this.

He was different. He couldn't use winds to soften his fall. If he fell from this height, even if his bones were intact, he wasn't sure he would survive.

"Come on, think of something..." He started thinking of things that could help him, and if there was anything like that in his inventory.

Even if his temporary inventory that he stole from Leo, had things like modern fighter jets, they were as useless for him as a piece of junk metal. He didn't know how to fly them. And even if he did, he couldn't just get them to fly in the middle of the air without takeoff.

"Right, it might be useful." He saw an object that didn't look that hard to use. It was at this point, it was beneficial for him that the World of Frost was similar to his world. There were so many objects that were familiar to him, even if he hadn't used them before.

He quickly opened his inventory, and brought out something that looked like a thick nylon bag, and wore it over his shoulders, adjusting it mid air.

Elias gripped the two handles dangling at his chest. He had never skydived before, but he'd seen enough movies to have a vague idea of what to do. He just hoped this wasn't one of those faulty ones.

With a deep breath, he pulled. For a terrifying second, nothing happened. Then, with a jerk that nearly dislocated his shoulders, the parachute opened. He was thrown upwards, as the parachute caught the wind.

He looked up, and saw the parachute that had helped him stabilize in the air. The parachute seemed to be holding well. It wasn't the smoothest ride as the wind kept toying with him, but at least he wasn't falling to his death anymore.

He glanced down and saw that black forest was still a considerable distance away, but it was approaching at an alarming rate. He could make out individual trees now.

"Okay, what next?" he mumbled to himself, wondering how to land this thing. He'd seen people control parachutes to land precisely where they wanted, but it seemed easier said than done.

"Aaahhh!"

While he was trying to learn the methods to control his descent, a loud scream reached his ears.

He looked into the distance and saw multiple figures falling from the sky, just as he had been moments before. The Descendants of the Major Families were quite calm, even as they fell, as if they had ways to protect themselves.

It was the weaker rankers who were scared, plummeting uncontrollably.

"Is this really supposed to be an academy?" Elias frowned. So far, the place looked less like an academy where they were supposed to learn, and more like a survival battlefield.

He didn't care much about the fates of the others. At the end of the day, they were the same kind of people who were destined to enforce the academy's will in the future.

Elias focused on himself and tried to steer the parachute. Although it wasn't easy, he seemed to be getting the hang of it. At least, he was able to change directions to some extent.

As for landing, he didn't think much about it. As long as the fall was only a few meters high, it wasn't dangerous for him.

The moment he neared the forest, he freed himself from the parachute. He fell freely, while the parachute floated away until it was caught in the trees.

Elias fell into the forest, but he couldn't avoid the leaves and branches that brushed past his skin. Some of the leaves even sliced through his skin, leaving scars and causing him to bleed.

Although not perfectly fine, he managed to land safely on his feet, surviving the fall. He sat down, taking a sigh of relief, lightly touching his cheeks that were blessings.

The black leaves of the trees felt like sharp blades when they sliced through his skin. He wondered if it was going to leave scars.

He opened his inventory again, and brought a mirror and first aid box. But the moment he looked at his reflection in the mirror, his gaze narrowed.

He touched his cheeks, which were bleeding. But the blood wasn't red. The blood that was coming out seemed to be black. He was certain that his blood used to be red, so why was it suddenly black? Was it because of the leaves?

He quickly looked at his hands, to see his own material composition.

............

Material Composition: Elias Ashborn (90 Percent), Bones of Ancient Dragon (9 Percent), Corruption of a Lost Constellation (1 Percent)

Material Stability: 5 percent

Extraction Possibility: Very Low Possibility

.............

"Corruption of a Lost Constellation?" he was certain that there was nothing like this the last time he checked. Even the Material Stability had fallen drastically.

It was the first time he had seen such low material stability, from the moment he had gained the ability to see these things. He didn't know what it meant to have such a low material stability. Was it dangerous for him?

He didn't know what that corruption was, but it definitely didn't sound like a good thing. He had to get rid of it.

He tapped the back of his hand, and said, "Confirm Extraction."

.........

Warning. Material Stability is too low. Extraction might result in complete destruction of all materials.

Probability of Completion Destruction: 99.59 Percent.

Would you like to confirm extraction?
