Chapter 200: Roleplay
As the meeting concluded, the selected students were separated from the rest. They were given some basic instructions on how to avoid detection and what to look for.
Most of the students looked dejected and terrified. Their faces were pale with the realization of the danger they were in.
Elias, on the other hand, acted appropriately scared, but inside, he was already formulating his next steps.
He needed to make sure he was "caught" in a way that would allow him to reveal his flames without raising too much suspicion. It needed to be a perfectly natural and unavoidable situation.
Later that evening, under the cover of darkness, the infiltration group set out. Each of them was escorted by a ranker of the Creator Faction, as far as possible without being detected.
Elias was given the north point for information.
"This is as far as I can take you. If I go any farther than this, they would be able to detect me. The traps are especially made to detect the Summoned Beast energy."
The boy pushed Elias forward, and said, "From this point onwards, you need to go alone. The traps can't detect you, since your Contracted Best is dead. But don't underestimate the enemy, and still try to be cautious."
The boy gave Elias more reminders to be safe, but not because he was worried about his safety. It was purely for his own benefit.
Elias had no choice. The boy watched him enter the territory of the Destroyer Faction in the darkness of night. He didn't leave as he was worried that Elias might run back out of fear instead.
"Your life and death doesn't matter. But I really hope you survive, and get us the information that we need."
Only after Elias disappeared in the distance, the boy finally turned around and left. He wasn't sure which of the selected ones was going to succeed, if any.
"To think that a day would come where you would have to search for information about your own whereabouts." Astralious snickered behind Elias, finding it amusing that Elias was sent to search for himself. "So, how are you planning to get caught?"
"Who says I'm planning to get caught?" Elias answered, without much of a reaction.
"Are you not? How will you be forced to reveal your abilities then?"
"It depends on how capable those people are. If they fail in finding me without me trying to be caught, then I would be quite disappointed. I really hope it won't come to that."
Elias travelled under the curtains of night, making as little noise as possible. It was as if he truly had no intention of getting caught.
Whenever he heard the sound of footsteps, he hid himself and waited until the sound of footsteps grew distant. He was also helped by Astralious, who alerted him if there was any Constellation or Soul Beast nearby, making him hide his presence even more fiercely.
He moved with extreme caution, but along the way, he did hear some explosions in the distance. There were multiple bright flashes, tens of miles away from him. The explosions were coming from the directions that were selected by the others to infiltrate.
"It hasn't even been a few hours, and most of them are already caught?" Astralious frowned. "If any of them are taken alive, won't they know the exact number of infiltrators? The security would be strengthened. Did you expect it?"
"They lasted much longer than I thought. With their class abilities sealed, and their summoned beasts dead, they were no different than ordinary people. It was only a matter of time before they were caught."
Elias didn't stop moving, especially since most of the attention was in the other direction at the moment. He quickly sprinted through the ice, and rushed to the camp before the security could be strengthened.
The last five hundred meters were the hardest to cover, as there was no space to hide. There weren't even any snow peaks like before, as everything had been cleaned and the area flattened.
If he tried moving through this place, he was sure that he was going to be detected. It was a foolish thing that someone who wanted to hide his abilities would never do.
"Is there no other way to enter?" he mumbled, his eyes shifting from one place to another.
The only way he could think of, was to dig through the snow beneath his feet and create a tunnel. For someone with his physical strength, it wasn't a hard thing to do.
Even if Kaelen's class abilities were sealed, his strengthened physique was still there. It wasn't suspicious for him to dig, and that was exactly what he did.
He started digging through the snow, and created a small tunnel. It took much of his time, but eventually, he was successful, as he didn't need to dig a deep tunnel. He just had to hide himself from being detected under the snow.
He came out of the Tunnel after reaching the camp, only when Astralious told him that there was no one else nearby.
"Hah, I thought I was going to suffocate." He came out of the group, his clothes still covered in snow. He was gasping for breath, being under snow for such a long time.
Once he was out, patted the snow off the clothes that were given to him by the Creator Faction. These clothes were taken by them from the Destroyer Class students that were caught, and were merely means for a disguise.
He quickly closed the hole in the ground. Even as he was wearing the clothes of the Destroyer Faction, he still didn't make his presence known publicly. His face was still that of Kaelen.
He moved even more cautiously now that he was inside the enemy camp. Along the way, he heard many students talking with each other, and there was often the mention of Elias Ashborn.
Many students were speculating about his whereabouts. By now, he hadn't met the top rankers but he already verified that Elias was not in the camp, something that he knew better than anyone in the first place.
