Legacy of Hero: Rise of Kairon

Chapter 47: — Negotiations with the Enemy

"Sometimes, to defeat darkness… you must speak with it."

🎥 [SCENE 1 – HERO ASSOCIATION HQ, INTERROGATION ROOM]

The room was cold, metallic — as silent as a tomb.

Chained at the center, bound by abyssal silver cuffs, sat Zen Kagetsune.Once a hunter of heroes. Now defeated — but not tamed.

Before him stood Darius Valtier and Kelvin Nox.

Kelvin paced like a caged beast. His aura pulsed in choking waves of shadowy violet.Darius stood firm, though tension flickered in his gaze.

Kelvin (harsh):"Talk. Where's Eliara?"

Zen let out a low, mocking chuckle.

Zen:"You think I'll just give that away? Heh… If this is the new generation of heroes, then the world's already lost."

Kelvin stopped.

His expression hardened. Then— CRACK — the floor beneath his feet split from sheer pressure.

His aura exploded.A storm of living darkness spiraled around him.His eyes glowed in a primordial violet — ancient, divine, deadly.

Darius (firm but alert):"Kelvin, calm down—"

Kelvin (locking eyes with Zen):"You don't know the weight I carry, boy.If I wanted… you'd already be dead."

For the first time…Zen felt something new.A fear not of death — but of what existed before death.

Kelvin (deep, cold):"So talk…Or I'll silence you. Permanently."

Zen swallowed hard.He took a breath.

Zen:"…Alright. But on one condition."

Kelvin stepped closer, arms folded.

Kelvin:"We don't negotiate with enemies. But I heard you like money."

Zen smirked.

Zen:"Go on…"

Kelvin gestured.A floating artifact entered the room — the official Aura Scanner of the Association.

Darius raised an eyebrow.

Kelvin:"State all your skills. You want in? We need to know what you're worth."

Darius:"Wait, are you seriously considering this?"

Kelvin:"Yes. We need him right now.But if he betrays us… I'll kill him myself."

Darius sighed, then shrugged.

Darius:"Go ahead…"

The scanner lit up.Golden lines shimmered.

Result: 120,000 aura units.

Everyone's eyes widened.

Assistant:"That's… incredible. His aura is now real. Dense. At this level, he surpasses most Rank A heroes. Possibly touching S-Rank."

Kelvin gave a faint smile.

Kelvin:"List your abilities."

Zen:"Well…My speed is 10 times the speed of light. My strength is overwhelming.I'm a master of martial arts and cursed weapons.I used to wield the Absolute Predator Mode…But now, with my aura restored… I'm not sure what I've become."

Kelvin:"Your speed outclasses most Rank Bs.Your strength… exceptional.Be proud.Today… you're a hero."

Darius:"Wait— What?! You're joking—"

Kelvin (dead serious):"No. Phoenix Guild is without a vice-captain.What better redemption… than having the man who killed the old one… earn her place."

Zen's face darkened.

Zen:"This hero gig… does it cover debt?Because I'm drowning in it. That's why I became a bounty hunter."

Kelvin grinned dryly.

Kelvin:"At your level?Base salary: 15 billion HeroCoins a month. But only if you tell us…Where Eliara is.And where the Renegates are hiding."

Zen paused. Thought. Then smiled faintly, eyes closed.

Zen:"When do I report for duty?"

🛋️ [SCENE 2 – HALL OF A THOUSAND LIGHTS – LATE AFTERNOON]

Annie and Abby sat on the couch, scrolling through endless clips.News. Memes. Edits of Ryan's fight were going viral.

Annie (smiling):"I knew Yan would beat that monster…"

Abby (leaning back):"It was insane…And I don't think he even went all out."

Just then, Dante Valtier entered, clad in the official Thousand Lights uniform, face determined.

Dante:"Squad. Rank A mission. Today. Now."

Annie:"Huh? Where?"

Dante:"A village in the east. Reports of a creature. Aura unstable.Seems powerful. Just the three of us."

Abby:"Where's the rest?"

Dante:"Kane's on leave by order of Master Kelvin.Today… it's on us."

Annie:"Then let's show what we're made of."

Dante smirked.

Dante:"Exactly."

They walked out as the last sunlight reflected off the windows of the guild.
