Legacy of Harry Potter

Chapter 164: Fate of the Death Eaters

November 1994

Hogwarts' Grounds

No one dared to even breathe loudly for first few moments. The massive fissures, the lingering effect of the sword strike… everything left a deep effect on the mind of every person present there.

Harry paid no attention to these things as his mind was focused on the still alive death eaters. After Voldemort's death, their condition had improved slightly. With magic returning to their bodies and the absence of the dark mark made them able to stand them on their own.

Even their eyes filled with fear and trepidation. They had dared not imagine that their invincible 'dark lord' would be killed by a child of 14 years. Even in the duel, it was Harry Potter who had the upper hand all along.

With each step that Harry Potter took, their heart raced faster. They could see death approaching clearly.

The likes of Bellatrix and the Lestrange Brothers who had chosen to be imprisoned in Azkaban than to lie about their loyalty of their lord and live had no qualms at the approaching death.

But the likes of Lucius Malfoy and Tiberius Nott along with others who were used to life of a comfort were not willing to die for a 'half blood.'

Lucius' anxious eyes roamed towards the crowd and finally spotted Cornelius Fudge who was shivering in fear.

Lucius glared hard at Fudge but the minster remained non responsive. After all, who would be willing to confront the monster the Harry had shown to be?

But when Lucius felt all his hopes shattering, Albus Dumbledore leaned towards the minister and whispered something.

As the minister listened to Dumbledore's wise words, the minster showed a myriad of expressions on his face. In those short few moments, it felt as if the minister went through some enlightened. A determined expression on his face as he hastily made his way in the arena.

"Chief auror, Rufus Scrimgeour," Fudge shouted as he stood between Harry and the death eaters. "Arrest all these people and put them in tight prison."

Mustering all the courage and righteousness, he added, "Everyone would be put on a trial at Wizarding Council as soon as possible."

Rufus Scrimgeous immediately approached the arena and following behind him were more than 30 aurors.

"Lord Potter," Fudge waddled towards Harry. "I cannot express the debt the world owes you for vanquishing the dark lord."

"But you said rest now," he smiled. "I will take it from here."

Harry scoffed, "Do you think, your tactics will save these people?"

Fudge widened his eyes, "Were you planning to start a massacre, Lord Potter? We are talking about more than 50 people. A lot of them could be under imperious curse…"

Albus Dumbledore arrived at this moment, "Well… I don't see a reason why they should be killed or even put to jail… except for those who have been on run from Azkaban."

He continued, "After all, their crime is only that they arrived here with Voldemort… which you too did Harry."

"Merely arriving with Voldemort does not warrant a death sentence. We are already being harsh y arresting them for a trial… just to know the truth."

He leaned as if trying to pressurise Harry, "Also these 16 people have committed a murder… the people they killed were innocent."

"Just the thought that they were about do something and your people killed them all… maybe they were Lord Malfoy ploys to catch Voldemort off guard."

"I believe that they were shoot the spells towards Voldemort and not on the general audience," Dumbledore smirked.

"Have you gone mad, Albus?" Minerva roared as she approached Harry.

"Have I? Minerva?" Dumbledore smiled. "Then please do tell the crimes of those 16 people… and please remember thought to commit a crime is not a crime."

The entire audience was on their edge of the seat. They did not know what was happening and what was about to happen.

Malfoy, on the other hand made a shameful approach.

"Minister," he said. "It seems I failed in my duties."

"I was not able to catch the dark lord off guard… when he hit me with an imperious curse… I did not know."

Harry chuckled, "Maybe I should have killed you all in that last strike."

Even is his face was smiling, the pressure from him was making Lucius, the minster and the aurors break in sweat.

"I believe an alive Peter Pettigrew would warrant some questions and the charges on Sirius be removed," added Voldemort.

Hearing this Peter was about to turn into a rat and vanish but a spell struck him rendering him unconsciousness.

Alastor Moddy came huffing towards the group. Levitating behind him was a person, who looked exactly like him.

"I say minister," Alastor spat in angry tone. "By defending these scum… you are doing a big mistake."

"Alastor!!!" the minister shouted in shock. "Who is he?"

Alastor grunted but told the reality to Barty Crouch Jr. as impersonating and the tale of Crouch Jr. escaping the Azkaban.

Harry ignored all the commotion and turned towards Amelia, "Madam Bones… please see that Sirius is given a proper trial and Peter brought to trial."

"And… I am compromising a lot…" boomed Harry's voice. "But if some plays for Peter Pettigrew, the betrayer of my parents… You don't know what awaits you."

With this Harry vanished from the arena. Minerva and Amelia exchanged a silent glance with each other.

Harry giving up this easily on the death eaters was not in their plans. It felt like as if he did not even care.
