Konoha: The Thirty-Year-Old Uchiha Can’t Be Bothered

Chapter 51: Chapter 51: The Unexpected Family Help Is Especially Warm

"No. The clan head has ordered that no one may enter."

The black-clad Uchiha stood impassively, his tone icy — even if the Sage of Six Paths came knocking, he wouldn't open the door.

"Don't be like this!"

Uchiha Gin grew anxious. The streets outside were chaos, and he couldn't just leave the girl behind at the research center.

"Apologies. If you keep making trouble, I will have to act accordingly."

As he spoke, the black-clad Uchiha slowly drew his sword from his waist.

"Let them in!"

Suddenly, the mansion gates opened, and Uchiha Tadaima's wife walked out, looking exhausted.

"Auntie!"

Uchiha Gin instantly dashed over with a fawning smile. "Quick, greet Auntie," he called back at the girl.

In this kind of social nicety, a modern man like him excelled.

The girl hurried over, a bit nervous in front of this unfamiliar woman. "Greetings, Clan Head's wife," she said softly.

"You're the little Hikari Gin always talks about, aren't you? No need to be so formal — just call me Auntie, like Gin does."

Seeing her nephew bring back such a lovely young girl, Uchiha Tadaima's wife wasn't blind.

"Auntie, I won't go inside," Gin said after handing the girl over. "I'm going to the frontlines — I'm sure I can help Uncle there."

Not waiting for her to try to stop him, Gin gave Hikari a reassuring gesture before disappearing into the night.

"Let's hope I'm not too late," he muttered as he sprinted, pushing his legs to the limit as he raced toward the clan gates.

Suddenly, an oppressive killing intent washed over him. Gin froze, his Sharingan flaring as he stared at the corner up ahead — he sensed danger there.

Sure enough, a moment later, several unfamiliar black-clad figures emerged, their faces smeared with blood but wearing crazed, bloodthirsty expressions.

"Who are you?"

Gin calmly asked first, his senses on high alert, chakra circulating, Sharingan spinning.

He could tell at a glance these men weren't Uchiha. At this time, they could only be enemies.

"Hahaha, just a little brat," the lead man sneered, and the group closed in, cracking their knuckles.

"If you're enemies, don't blame me."

Despite being surrounded, Gin's voice was cool. His Sharingan already showed that each of them was at least squad-leader level — nothing to take lightly.

The lead man swung his huge fist down at Gin's head.

"Kill him!"

But before the punch landed, it froze a mere inch from Gin's face. The man's face turned red with strain, but he couldn't move an inch.

[Genjutsu: Sharingan]

All of them felt their bodies turn to lead. Gin followed up with another burst of Sharingan power, knocking all but the leader unconscious. He then fixed his spinning eyes on the dazed leader and forced him into a trance.

"Who are you people?"

"We are shinobi of the Kaguya clan," the man answered woodenly.

Gin frowned. The Kaguya? In the original timeline they'd been exiled to the Land of Water. Why had they come all the way here?

"What is your goal?"

"To seize the Uchiha clan compound and capture important members."

Gin's heart sank. A full-on home invasion, aiming to take hostages — this could be catastrophic if they succeeded.

"How many of you infiltrated? Who's your leader?"

"Eighty. Led by Elder Kaguya Kousuke."

Eighty Kaguya — and hand-picked for an infiltration mission. No wonder they were strong.

"Where did they go?"

"Granary, armory, supply depot, research center, and the clan head's mansion."

Hearing that last one, Gin's face turned pale. He'd just left Hikari at the clan head's mansion.

"No good! Hikari's still there!"

Without another word, Gin dispatched the captured infiltrators with a few precise shuriken. Watching the life fade from their bodies, he felt a heaviness in his chest.

So this was what it felt like to kill.

He took a deep breath. I'd better get used to this era…

There was no time to run to Uchiha Tadaima for help now — Gin could only hope his uncle realized the Kaguya's true objective in time. He sprinted back toward the mansion at full speed.

The streets he passed were no longer peaceful — Uchiha civilians lay dead or dying in pools of blood, the metallic scent of it choking him. Fighting down nausea, he pushed on, finally reaching the mansion gates he'd left not long ago.

There, battle raged. Bells clanged furiously, and at the head of the enemy force stood the burly, scarred Kaguya Kousuke, laughing as his men fought the remaining black-clad Uchiha guards.

Gin arrived just as the last of the guards collapsed, bloodied and unconscious. Kousuke sneered.

"So this is the reinforcements you've been waiting for? Just a brat?"

Gin scanned the battlefield — they hadn't breached the mansion yet. He let out a breath of relief and then fixed his eyes on Kousuke, his Sharingan spinning faster as an oppressive chakra seeped into the air.

Even the Kaguya stiffened slightly at the killing intent.

"This brat isn't ordinary — take him out!"

At Kousuke's order, several Kaguya charged forward. But before they reached him, black flames erupted on their bodies, unstoppable.

[Amaterasu]

The chosen of the Uchiha stood alone before the burning Kaguya, black fire still crackling where his enemies had fallen.
