Konata Doesn't Want To Be The Female Lead

Chapter 32: Chapter 32: The Classic Shounen Plot Progression

Thanks to the efforts of pro heroes and staff, the destroyed steel gate was quickly repaired. Although this infiltration incident merely involved a bunch of media reporters causing a ruckus on campus—with no personal injuries or significant property loss aside from the gate—those who knew the truth couldn't help but feel a heavy sense of foreboding.

Malice hidden in the darkness had bared its fangs. Shadows lurking within the dark had begun to move. Justice versus evil. Light versus shadow.

"Today's Hero Basics class will be taught by three teachers jointly."

After the media storm that had shaken U.A. High, Aizawa Shouta looked noticeably drained.

"As you all know, heroes not only deal with villains, but more often protect innocent lives. Today's training will focus on rescue operations in disaster environments—floods, fires, earthquakes, and more. Enough talk. Get changed into your hero costumes. The bus is already waiting outside. Once you're ready, get on board—we're headed to the USJ facility, and it's a bit of a ride."

"Aizawa-sensei, I have a question."

Just as Aizawa finished speaking, Konata raised her hand high.

"Go ahead."

Aizawa glanced at her.

"May I take another form of transportation? I get carsick."

"Buy some motion sickness pills, then."

Lifting his head slightly, Aizawa addressed the whole class.

"Start moving now. Meet on the bus in ten minutes."

"Yes, sir!!"

What a rowdy bunch of overly energetic kids...

Glancing at her excited classmates, Konata grumbled inwardly and let her head slump forward onto the desk.

She'd barely slept the night before, and after lunch, drowsiness had crept up on her again… Hopefully her motion sickness wouldn't act up too much, or she'd be mortified if she puked on the bus...

Ten minutes later, Konata found herself nearly sprawled entirely across Momo Yaoyorozu's lap, eyes shut. For the first time, she felt that being carsick might not be so bad after all.

Listening to the chatter on the bus, sleep soon claimed her again—until Momo gently woke her once they arrived.

"Sorry, I didn't sleep well last night."

Sitting up awkwardly from Momo's lap, Konata blushed slightly and apologized.

"No worries, it was only a thirty-minute ride."

Momo smiled at her and stood up as well.

"Let's get off."

"I want to enjoy Momo's lap pillow too!!"

As Konata and Momo got off the bus, Mineta poked his head out from the seat behind them, his face twisted with jealousy and longing.

"Mineta, I don't think you'll ever get that chance in your lifetime," said a red-haired hot-blooded boy from beside him with a dismissive snort.

After disembarking, a massive semi-circular building came into view.

USJ—short for "Unforeseen Simulation Joint"—was a rescue training facility personally built by the "Space Hero" Thirteen.

Inside were six zones: heavy rain, flood, fire, mountain, landslide, and collapse—allowing full simulation of various disasters.

Thirteen, the so-called Space Hero, wore a full spacesuit, making it impossible to tell her appearance—or even her gender. Despite her bulky look, she was actually quite agile.

With Thirteen leading the way, Class A and Aizawa entered the USJ grounds. Thirteen guided them forward while explaining the purpose and design of the facility.

Meanwhile, Konata, disinterested, lagged behind. Although she'd basically just slept through the trip, she still felt dizzy and nauseous. As she curiously scanned the massive interior, she started thinking about how she could sneak off and nap somewhere quiet...

"As you all know, my Quirk is Black Hole. Anything sucked into it gets crushed. It's a power that can easily kill. I believe some of you may have similarly dangerous Quirks."

Thirteen spoke with conviction from the front while Aizawa stood nearby, still looking sleep-deprived.

...Quirks this broken exist?

Hearing her words, Konata, standing at the back, felt her worldview shift again.

If someone with such a terrifying Quirk used it for combat, wouldn't they be top-tier? So why would someone with such a powerful Quirk choose to be a rescue hero…?

"Aizawa-sensei, you said there would be three teachers. Where's the third?" Iida Tenya asked during a pause in Thirteen's explanation.

"The third is All Might. He'll be joining us shortly. Until then, Thirteen and I will be conducting the training."

After a slight pause, Aizawa responded.

Most of the class just got excited about seeing their idol again. But for Konata, Aizawa's words sent a chill down her spine.

All Might's coming. The protagonist's here. It's an enclosed space. Combine that with the morning's incident where U.A. was infiltrated...

There's no way something big isn't going to happen here.

The villains have probably already infiltrated USJ. Two teachers protecting twenty students? That's a stretch. A battle is bound to break out. Midoriya will probably shine, then All Might will arrive to save the day… It's textbook shounen progression.

With that thought, Konata quietly moved a little closer to Midoriya Izuku.

She couldn't be sure a fight would break out, but it was best to be prepared. Maybe even score a dramatic "beauty saves the hero" moment...
