Chapter 64: Virus

Underground Tunnel
"Run! he's here!" the man said running towards his companion, as he stopped before turning around and raising the pistol in his hand shooting in the dark.
"Why are you hunting us like this?!, we haven't done anything to you!" His voice was raw with frustration and anger.
*Bang* *Bang* Two more shots cracked out before the pistol clicked empty.
"Damn it," he cursed, tossing the useless weapon aside and staring into the inky blackness of the tunnel.
When foot steps can be heard, and finally in the darkness a man appears with a fox mask looking at them.
The man took a step back in fear before anger completely took over him as he's eyes turned pure blue as he roared towards the mask man as he ripped his clothes off.
His skin stretched taut, muscles bulging beneath as bone shifted and reshaped. A low growl rumbled in his chest, preluding the cracking and snapping of his joints.
His jaw elongated, teeth lengthening into fangs as his nose sharpened into a snout. Thick, coarse hair erupted from his skin, a dark, bristling fur that quickly covered his body. With a final, agonizing groan, he stood, a towering Lycan, bipedal and monstrous.
"RAAWWWRR!"
The man's companions, their faces twisted with a primal mixture of rage and insatiable hunger, began to shred their clothing as if it were mere paper. As the fabric tore apart, their once-human forms began to warp and morph; muscles expanded, bones cracked, and reconfigured beneath their skin. Growls erupted from deep within their chests, quickly escalating into guttural roars as they transformed into monstrous, wolf-like beasts. Fur burst forth in thick tufts, claws elongated into deadly weapons, and their eyes ignited with a fierce, feral glow.
They turned as one toward the masked man, unleashing thunderous howls that reverberated through the tunnel.
The fox-masked man cast a brief, indifferent glance at the Lycans before casually tossing something to the ground. It rolled toward their feet—a smoke bomb.
In an instant, a thick cloud erupted, enveloping them. The Lycans whimpered, their senses overwhelmed, struggling to sniff through the haze.
Their frustrated roars morphed into growls as they lunged toward the masked figure, some scrambling up the stone walls, claws scraping against the rough surface.
Unfazed, the masked man displayed an unnerving calmness as he observed the advancing Lycans. Then, with a chilling elegance, he took a step forward.
The moment his foot touched the ground, the charging Lycans stumbled, collapsing in a heap, their bodies twitching uncontrollably. Those clinging to the walls fell with sickening thuds, their own momentum betraying them.
The masked man approached the fallen creatures, his gaze piercing as he fixed it on their faces. Black blood seeped from their mouths, staining their fur in grotesque splatters.
As they writhed on the ground, their forms began to shift back into human shapes, black veins pulsing beneath their skin, struggling for breath.
One Lycan, contorted in agony, managed to force out a single word, his voice ragged and heavy with despair.
"Why?" The question hung in the air, a chilling echo of desperation and confusion, before silence enveloped him as his body finally succumbed to the corruption of the virus.
The fox-masked man knelt beside the Lycan, studying the creature's contorted face with a calm, detached curiosity.
"It works well," he murmured, his voice a low, resonant rumble. Abruptly, he paused, his gaze shifting to the other entrance of the tunnel.
Rising to his full height, the masked figure stood silhouetted against the dim light.
He retrieved a round disk from his back, its surface etched with intricate arcane symbols, and pressed it firmly against the tunnel wall. As he did, a shadow enveloped him, expanding like living darkness until he was consumed and vanished without a trace.
A minute later, two vampires clad in sleek black leather coats, armed with gleaming pistols, emerged at the tunnel entrance. They knelt beside the Lycan's body, their faces etched with grim determination.
One of the vampires pressed an earpiece to his ear. "Kraven, it happened again. It's confirmed that something is hunting Lycans and experimenting on them."
[...Take one of the bodies back to the Morgue] Kraven's voice crackled through the earpiece, sharp and authoritative. He understood the urgency, they needed to unravel the mystery behind these attacks.
"Let's move," the vampire said to his companion, a fellow Death Dealer. He hoisted the Lycan's body, his eyes narrowing as he noticed the round disk embedded in the wall.
The other vampire stepped closer, curiosity piqued. Just as he reached out to pry it loose, the disk detonated in a blinding flash of purple light.
*Boooooom!*
The Lycan's body dropped to the ground, its flesh was burning in flams. While the vampires were engulfed in the searing purple inferno, vanishing completely and becoming ash. All that remained was the smoldering pile of cinders that had once been the Lycan silent testimony to the deadly encounter.
The tunnel, once a site of horror and violence, was now an empty, sterile space, all traces of the incident eradicated as if it had never happened.

Warehouse: Hideout02
The masked man appeared inside the warehouse, his footsteps echoing against the concrete floor. He walked towards a steel door opening in the ground.
He knelt before it, raising his hand. With a flick of his wrist, his hand transformed, fingernails extending into sharp claws.
These weren't mere weapons, but keys. He pressed the claws against the door, a chilling rasp echoing in the silence. The door creaks open, revealing a hidden passage descending into the floor. the man looks at the darkness below. Then without any hesitation with a graceful leap, he plunged into the depths.
The door behind him automatically slid shut with a heavy thud, sealing the passage behind him. A fine white mist sprayed the masked man as when he landed. Then the gate before him hissed open.
The man removed his mask, revealing a young man with black hair. With swift movements, he shed his remaining clothes, tossing them aside.
Now fully naked, the cool air in the Laboratory touched his skin as he walked towards the table, where a crisp new outfit lay prepared.
He reached for the clothes, dressing quickly as someone walked behind him.
"Do you have to do this?" Raizo walked towards the Lucian side with concern.
At first Lucian was respected by Raizo for his will and strength but in the one year and ten months since the destruction of the Ozunu Orphanage, Raizo accompanied Lucian, he saw what Lucian was doing, Lucian won't hesitate even experimenting on himself just to create a weapon strong enough to hold back or even kill his target.
"We can confirm the improved distemper virus works to any canine creatures, but we need to see how it affects Kitsune," Lucian said as he dressed before Lucian turned towards Raizo. Showing the target Raizo was talking about was a kitsune, his mother.
"We need this to work against kitsune to catch her by surprise and we already got a cure don't we. So I'll be fine," Lucian said smiling slightly as he walked towards the plastic flap door.
Inside was a laboratory showing all kinds of weapons from the most normal looking cross bow to the most advanced guns available in earth and beside it was different kinds of ammunition that is able to kill different kinds of super natural like bullets and arrows with silver nitrate or with UV liquid finally bullets with liquid wolfsbane the can spread into the blood stream of were-creatures.
Lucian walks towards an operating table before he sits on it while he straps himself on the table.
"Did you get it?" he asked Raizo as he strapped his feet on the table.
"Yeah, but that guy Michael wanted to fight so I have to knock him out first to get his blood," Raizo said as he strapped Lucian's arm.
"Is that guy so important for your plan?"
"Maybe," Lucian smirked looking at Raizo. "For people like you who don't want to change being human, he may be the key for your guys immortality," Lucian knows Raizo's pride for being just a human, even if he becomes an alpha in the future he knows Raizo will resist a bite.
That's why Lucian was preparing something for his clan members who wanted to stay human, and solve the problem of humans being weak and fragile, he will make them stronger because he understood that in this world the strong eat the weak quite literally.
Raizo raised a brow in surprise hearing this, after all immortality was a big deal for humanity, and even some super natural creatures who didn't have a long life.
"What makes him so special?" Raizo inquired, reaching for a vial resting on the side of the operating table. He carefully drew the liquid into a syringe, his brow furrowed in concentration.
Lucian smirks hearing his question as he closes his eyes while telling a story. "Long ago, there was a man where everyone in his village got killed by a plague, that man didn't die his body adapted and evolved into the first immortal human," he moved his body a bit, making himself more comfortable on the operating table.
Raizo walked toward Lucian, listening carefully. While Lucian continued to tell his story.
"That man got two sons, one bitten by a bat and one bitten by a wolf, giving birth to the Lycan and Vampires line,"
"This man, is he still alive til this day?" Raizo said as he plunged the syringe into Lucian's vein, injecting the liquid virus into his blood stream.
Lucian just nodded as he closed his eyes waiting for the virus to kick in. As black veins started appearing on Lucian's body spreading all over him, then black blood started sipping out of his eyes and nose making Lucian snap open his eyes.
Lucian silver iris and golden yellow pupils glowed intensely as growl escaped from his throat as he took in the Virus enduring it silently not even screaming in pain then Lucian sclera began to turn black showing Lucian's body was in its limit. But Lucian didn't stop as he continued to endure it gripping the sides of the operating table making it creak.
Raizo seeing this closed his eyes before deciding to take another syringe containing a cure the Lucian created, he stabbed it into Lucian's heart.
Lucian's sclera started reversing into white before the black veins in his body started disappearing.
Lucian showed a tired smile, looking at Raizo. "it works, but it looks like we need something stronger." He knows that the probability of his mother getting a stronger healing than him, maybe the virus wouldn't even affect her that much.
"You're too hard on yourself, the kids might appreciate what you are doing," Raizo said while he took off Lucian straps.
"But it won't do any good if you die." Raizo shook his head at Lucian, he didn't agree on Lucian's ways but he knew Lucian wouldn't stop, it's better for him to stay by side and not let him die because of an experiment.
"Don't be like that, i know my limits," Lucian smirks weakly he knows how worried Raizo was in his experiment but he won't do it if he isn't sure.
'It's because for him, you're just experimenting not that he couldn't possibly know that you got knowledge of the scientist in my world,' Cortana appeared before Lucian with her golden soul flying in front of Lucian inspecting his body.
Lucian sighed mentally before he stretches his arms as he lifts himself off the operating table like nothing just happened. "Besides, we need every weapon we can use if we want to fight a god Raizo."
Raizo stopped what he was doing, turning towards Lucian. "Do you really want to fight her? She's your mother…" he whispered, his voice filled with concern.
Lucian didn't speak but he's action and silence was already enough.
Raizo sighed seeing this before continuing to inspect the weapons as he walks towards a table containing melee weapons, when Raizo stops as he sees a handle without any blade making him curious.
"Don't even think about it, I only made one." Lucian said, taking Raizo gaze off the handle turning towards Lucian.
"What is it?" Raizo asked curiously, he knew Lucian wouldn't make any weapon that wasn't useful.
"It's better if you see it in action," Lucian smiled with amusement walking towards a suitcase on the table, opening it, showing ten blood bags.
Lucian's eyes widened with curiosity as he took one of the blood bags in his hand showing it to Raizo. "Did you drain him or something?"
Raizo looks at the blood bag on Lucian's hand before looking at the suitcase. "The maximum blood that an adult can produce was ten pints isn't?"
Lucian shakes his head in amusement. "I wouldn't need this much but it's fine," he said with a smile, taking the blood bags in the suitcase as he walks towards the blood bank in the laboratory, opening it showing different bloods even some with different colors.
"I need you to do something, take one of the tracking devices and put it on one of the soldiers that will come inspect the scene," Lucian ordered Raizo as he marked the blood bag with initials of M.C before putting it inside the blood bank.
Raizo frowned after hearing this. 'Who would be interested in Lycans,' but Raizo walked towards a steel cabinet opening it showing a UV disk and bombs. As he took one of the small disks before closing the cabinet.
"These group of soldiers, who are they?" he asked turning towards Lucian holding the tracking device.
"A group of humans protecting the vampires and Lycans, with a leader named Alexander Corvinus," Lucian then looked at Raizo with a smile.
"The Human immortal,"
Raizo's eyes widened while he tightened his hold on the tracking device. "Is that so." He whispered, he knew how important this mission was with immortality in the line.
"I'll do it," Raizo nod toward Lucian, before he started walking towards the plastic flap door, he walked with determination in his heart. He knew Lucian was driven by a fierce determination to protect his clan, even if it meant going against his own mother.
He understood Lucian's dedication to his cause, but he also knew the risks. This wasn't just a fight, it was a war against a powerful, unpredictable force, they need strength to do it.
He looked down at the tracking device in his hand, knowing his role was crucial. He had to trust Lucian's plan, even if it meant walking into the unknown.
He was a human, but he wouldn't let fear paralyze him. As an Ozunu, He'll stand with Lucian, even if it means facing an impossible enemy.
"Are you not even taking one weapon!" Lucian shouted while still marking the blood bags.
"I don't need it," Raizo said with confidence as he got out of the laboratory.
"This guy is always serious," Lucian whispered as he put the blood bag inside the blood bank, holding the last one in his hand Lucian couldn't help but think of his plan. 'The perfect spartan,' that was his plan giving others the ability to survive a stronger, faster, better and immortal spartan Lucian eye's light up with expectation thinking of this before Cortana voice snapped him out of his reverie.
"He was only serious because for him you're just a kid but keep doing too much for his clan," Cortana said as she looks at the weapons with nostalgia thinking of her universe and friends.
Lucian stopped hearing Cortana before walking towards the weapons with his fingers sliding on the table lost in thought, he knew his age would be a problem for other people but he couldn't do anything after all his real mental age and reincarnation was the secret only between him and Cortana.
He looked at the handle without any blade taking it, he held it in his hands as he whispered to himself.
"Let's see if technology can make a god bleed, mother," Lucian waving as an energy blade appears on the side of the handle shining with blue light.

Underground Tunnel
Inside the tunnel, a group of human soldiers huddled together, their faces etched with grim determination. They knelt on the ground inspecting it closely.
When one of the soldiers brow furrowed, his eyes scanned the clean ground before turning his attention on the pile of ash on the ground, he picked up a handful of ash from the ground. It was the only remaining trace of Lycans and Vampires in the scene.
He pressed the radio to his ear, his voice tight with concern.
"Sir, we're too late, but now we know for sure. Something, or someone, is targeting the Lycans. It's not just extermination. It's something more... something methodical."
"I'm inspecting the remains for clues, but it's like they were here and then they were gone, no trace, no tracks, just...a single, terrifying explosion."
He glanced at the burned wall on the side, the air thick with the unspoken dread of what had transpired.

SHIP: Sea of ????
Inside the ship, Alexander Corvinus, face etched with lines of concern, listened intently to his soldier's report. The air crackled with unspoken tension, the weight of the news pressing heavily upon him. 'Who are they? Why are they targeting the Lycans?' he thought, a cold dread settling in his gut. He felt that whoever is behind this, after the Lycans, was going after the vampires next.
He needed to figure it out immediately. He needed to protect his sons.
He slammed his fist onto the table, the sound echoing through the ship's cabin.
"Monitor every Lycan in the city," he ordered, his voice a sharp, guttural rasp, his eyes blazing with a chilling intensity.
"Wait for them to appear, then take action immediately. No hesitation." He needed to apprehend who was coming after the Lycans.
Alexander turned his gaze toward the man beside him, his eyes hardening. "I want every call and message in that city to be monitored. Track every piece of information. Leave nothing unturned."
His hands clenched into fists, his jaw set in a grim line. This wasn't just a threat, it was a war, a war against an enemy whose motives were shrouded in darkness.

Underground Tunnel
"Let's move," the soldier said to his companion as they emerged from the tunnel. Unbeknownst to them, a pair of eyes watched from the shadows.
Sensing something amiss, the soldier abruptly turned around, raising his weapon. His companions followed suit, mimicking his cautious stance.
"What's wrong?" one of them asked.
The soldier frowned, scrutinizing the darkness but finding nothing. He shook his head at his companions.
"Maybe I'm just being overly sensitive," he admitted, leading his team out of the tunnel.
In the shadows, Raizo emerged briefly, watching them as they exited. Then, as silently as he had appeared, he melted back into the darkness, vanishing without a trace.
