Chapter 59: Memories
After Shizune let out those words, it seemed like the determination from earlier had quickly slipped away, her shoulders drooped and she felt her hand tremble a bit, but before she started to be overpowered by that feeling, she felt something quite warm at that time.
Kurono had put his hand on hers and then took it firmly, maybe it was because he was the closest to Shizune and because he understood her feelings a little, he really needed to know something important about her relationship with her parents, but for now, he would still fully support her as it was quite obvious that Shizune was trying to protect her relationship with Kurono.
It was the same situation as when they had just started dating, they couldn't just hide it, so they had told both Rena and Akio looking for their little approval, so this was the same situation.
"I'm sorry I didn't say it sooner, Yotsuba-san. But Shizune is telling the truth, and it's the same for me, I really love her and I know that it's important for her that both Kyoko-san and you know this." Kurono thought it was a good time to give her opinion since Shizune had made things clear.
As usual, the room had become silent after Kurono said that, Shizune was also waiting for what Ryo would say while holding Kurono's hand tightly, although that didn't prevent some warm feelings from arising inside her listening to Kurono's words.
For his part, Ryo had listened to everything carefully enough not to miss anything, he again had taken the cup of tea in front of him to start drinking it even though it was already cold enough for him to enjoy it.
The empty cup had ended up on the table after he drank it all, and that itself caused some more tension to be generated in the atmosphere of the place, Shizune was thinking of something else to say, but Ryo gave a slight sigh before starting to speak first.
"Does your mother already know about this?" Ryo asked that simple question which Shizune was quick to answer.
"Yes, actually she and Kurono met before I knew it and I explained our relationship." Shizune noticed that his father's expression didn't show a specific emotion, although she also appreciated that a bit since it was easier for her to express herself.
"I see..." Ryo's gaze alternated between the figures of Shizune and Kurono, although he stayed a little longer on Kurono. "You said there are many things to tell, how about you do it while we enjoy the food?"
"That would be perfect, ¿you know? I prepared your favorite food." Shizune felt a small happiness explode within her at that moment as she noticed Ryo's small expression that only she knew.
"Was that some kind of backup plan?" A slight smile had appeared on Ryo's face at his daughter's attitude, though he can't blame her for that.
"No, you could say I'm in a good mood, hehe." Shizune's own laugh had made Ryo unable to help but do the same.
It was quite clear that the serious atmosphere had completely disappeared, which was a bit strange for Kurono since he was a spectator of the whole situation, but at the same time, he knew that things were starting to turn out well.
…
After that small talk, the footsteps of the figures that had just entered the room caught everyone's attention, and seeing Rena and Kyoko with more food while Akio brought a couple more plates, everyone knew that they would enjoy very much the small event.
It didn't take long for the table to be ready with a large amount of food prepared since everyone helped with that, there was a seat for everyone, but all the couples chose to stay together giving a rather peculiar view.
Both Rena and Kyoko didn't ask any questions… Especially since they had stayed outside the door spying a bit… So once that was ready, the food began to be distributed among everyone.
"Delicious!!" Everyone had just given a small thank you for the food, and Rena couldn't take the urge to taste the food Kyoko had made anymore, although it was also because her pregnancy made it harder for her that. "Mom's food is delicious too, but grandma has something that I don't know how to describe."
Shizune heard this, but she was not going to get upset in any way since she also felt the same, she had learned everything she knows about cooking thanks to Kyoko, and although one of her goals was always to reach the same level as her, she had realized that there was one thing she could never match no matter how hard she tried.
Both Kurono and Akio had also praised the food, but Kurono concentrated on differentiating all the food since he could guess which one Shizune had prepared, and even if he didn't say it, he liked Shizune's food better.
"So… how about you start by telling us a bit about yourselves?" Kyoko's voice was quite clear, and both Shizune and Kurono realized that the question was directed at them.
This had caused Ryo's attention to fall on them as well and wait for what would come next. Kurono was about to speak, but now, Shizune stopped him at that moment with a small movement making him realize that it was not necessary.
Rena had also told herself that she would not interrupt in any way, she knew that this was important to her mother, although she would not hesitate to support her if she saw that things were going wrong in some way.
"I met Kurono one night when I went to look for ingredients to make dinner at the apartment" Shizune had started to explain everything, although she was aware that the beginning would worry her parents a little "But while I was on my way back, I was attacked by two men…"
Those very words had alerted both Ryo and Kyoko, and she hadn't been slow to get up and quickly walk over to Shizune's side.
"Why didn't you ever say anything that?" Her gaze was serious, really serious. Kyoko didn't even want to imagine what Shizune had just said, it was true that she was looking at her right now and she was in perfect condition, but her concern was incredibly sincere, this was the same case for Ryo even though he hadn't shown that attitude.
"I... I didn't want to worry them in any way." Shizune felt that she had done something wrong, but she already knew that her mother would act that way, and that would only have complicated things a bit in the past. "But let me finish, please."
Shizune had taken Kyoko's hands to try to calm her down as she continued with her little story. The simple fact of remembering that made Shizune feel some fear subconsciously, it had been a while since that, but she also remembered some nightmares she had regarding that, but just like at that time, there was something that she managed to calm down with, and that was remembering the person who saved her, and now that she was by his side, there was no reason to feel that way.
