I've Become the King of Villains in the Game

Chapter 144: Black Messenger Square (Two-in-One)_2

Her father, Don, had been an Investigator his whole life, battling against evil Transcendents and suppressing wild Mysterious Objects. But mortals are ultimately fragile, and over time, many of Don's teammates fell in the line of duty, with the rest disabled and retired.

This made Don extremely eager for Supernatural Power, believing that only by ascending to Transcendent could he better maintain the Empire's stability.

At that time, Don's superior, in recognition of his years of dedicated service and fearless combat, gave him a chance to become a Transcendent.

It was a Mystical Agent developed by the Supernatural Workshop, containing the traits of a Transcendent. Unlike Supernatural Knowledge, it didn't require personal insight; one only had to drink it to have a certain chance of advancing to Sequence Nine.

After drinking the Mystical Agent resolutely, Don successfully ascended but also triggered the latent contamination from a past mission, causing him to lose control on the spot, and his colleagues had to put him down.

Mona's mother also passed away in deep sorrow because of this incident.

Mona, having lost both parents, resolved to follow her father's path and become an Investigator. However, she was extremely averse to Supernatural Power, as if trying to prove that mortals were not incapable of combating the Transcendent.

Mona studied diligently at the Royal Academy, honing her shooting and combat skills, and ultimately graduated with the best record of her year.

And Mona's teacher was none other than her father Don's former superior.

On graduation day, the teacher handed her Don's legacy, a cat-eye badge.

"Ralph, Senior?"

Mona called out.

Ralph came to his senses and smiled at her genially.

"Team Leader Mona, just call me by my name. Since it's an order, I am now your subordinate."

"If that's the case, I'll be counting on you a lot from now on, Ralph."

Mona responded with a smile.

She invited Ralph to sit down, then retrieved several documents from the cabinet behind her desk.

"This is the investigation report on the Red Apple Church in Amber City. Take a look."

Mona handed the files to Ralph, then brewed him a cup of tea.

Ralph carefully read through them, then frowned.

"These allegations are solid, but they can only prove that it's the work of Amber City's branch. It's not enough to undermine the entire Red Apple Church..."

"That's true, but our teacher has already submitted my report. He's always had a dim view of the Church and with such an opportunity, he will surely make the Red Apple Church pay a price."

Mona then sat down across from him, continuing.

"Moreover, their reputation in Amber City has been utterly ruined. The vacant Church here may be taken over by another denomination."

Ralph nodded in agreement.

Mona then said something that startled him:

"Besides that, Archbishop Lafa of the Red Apple Church played an extensive role in both the Gallery case and the Bradley Square battle... He even sent down an Incarnation, attempting to sacrifice the city."

Ralph looked up in astonishment, only to see Mona's expression grave.

"I didn't include this in the report but directly informed the teacher through the 'Sticky Note Book'..."

It took Ralph a moment to digest this shocking bit of news.

He spoke with difficulty, his voice sounding a bit hoarse:

"What did the teacher say?"

Mona shook her head slightly.

"He said 'I know'."

"That's it?"

"That's it."

Ralph took a sip of his tea and sighed quietly.

He had heard that the Sun Royal Family had summoned elites from all major denominations to investigate a significant matter in the Spirit World. The Sun King took the matter very seriously. Perhaps, it was for this reason that, during such a sensitive and critical period, the Red Apple Church dared to make a move.

He wondered what the teacher's actual stance was.

With that thought in mind, he opened the last remaining document.

The next second, his hand froze.

"A new department of the Silver Dragon Trade Association, the Circus?"

Ralph set down the tea cup, looking uncertainly at Mona as he inquired:

"You agreed to it?"

Mona nodded and pointed to the document in Ralph's hand, adding:

"Take another look at the appendix."

Upon hearing her words, Ralph flipped to the end.

The expression on his face grew even more surprised.

The appendix boldly contained a personal dossier for Jack Spett.

All the information had been filled in personally by Mona.

It detailed how Chen Lun had destroyed the Red Apple Church branch in Emerald Town before coming to Amber City.

He also successively smashed the Amber City Red Apple Church branch and the evil Transcendent organization "Circus."

It was specifically noted that the "Circus" played a vile role in the Gallery case and that the scheming of member Beckman was the main cause of the tragic incident.

Jack Spett turned the tide and saved Amber City, ultimately choosing to join the Silver Dragon Trade Association and formed a mercenary team called "Circus."

Ralph recognized this Jack instantly.

Back when he was still Head of the Shelter in Emerald Town, he had a covert contest with this guy.

No hard feelings, rather an appreciation for him.
Explore more stories with empire

The daring to strike against the Red Apple Church without wantonly killing innocents, sparing the lives of fellow Investigators and showing respect for the bodies of civilians.

This was a Transcendent with a moral line.

"This guy is pretty capable."

Ralph murmured.

But Mona shook her head slightly at him, leaving Ralph puzzled.

"Keep reading, there's something even more surprising further down."

So Ralph turned the pages once more, coming across the endorsement letter from Rosa, the owner of the Silver Dragon Trade Association, as well as a commendation letter signed by dozens of nobles led by Viscount Pompey and hundreds of merchants.
