Chapter 973: Despite their absence
[Quin's POV: ]
The festival of the academy that started at the break of dawn, was now slowly coming to a brief pause as the sun climbed to the high sky at the arrival of a fine afternoon.
People who were playing around the places, the children, parents, and the elders alike, were all now gathering around the food stalls.
'Since this was lunchtime now, they all were finally going to take a break from all the exploration and have the amazing food that was present all over this garden.'
There were some fun things in the garden aside from food as well, so the guests would take this time to do some shopping.
'Which also means They all will have a rush hour around their stalls now.'
Since Liz and Tia had their own stalls, a few other friends went there to help them after they called them, so now, I'm enjoying the festival by myself.
[{ You don't have to be by yourself, Quinny. }]
[{ "I know, but, isn't it fun being alone sometimes?" }]
Lucifer and Uriel had also vanished so there wasn't really any reason to be with the others… Besides, there's some other things on my mind.
[{ "Besides…" }]
The class projects of the twelve classes.
Everyone had worked hard to prepare these things, and there were a lot of things about these things that not everyone was paying attention to.
[{ "This is more fun, Ov. Don't you think so?" }]
When everyone revealed their special representations of the things that were closely associated with the Academy, the people who have already graduated from the academy were pretty surprised.
This was the first time they were hearing about a festival that was held in the memory of the founders, and they categorised this into a unique festival that wasn't something periodic but something that might never be celebrated again in the near future.
This festival wasn't like the headmaster's birthday which we students and the student council take care of, this wasn't like the other festivals that are celebrated periodically, and this wasn't a festival with a set goal.
'Since They had organised this in the memory of the beings that we did not know much about, this was an academy centric event, which meant it was important for all the teachers as well as the students.'
The reason this competition to create these masterpieces was held was all thanks to the uniqueness of the festival itself, so this was a very special event even for the past graduates who were coming back to their Alma-mater after a long time.
[{ It sure is fun to look at not one or two but twelve masterpieces in a single place. Especially ones such as those two… I don't know much about you humans, but from Our perspective, this isn't a simple structure. }]
Since Ov is an oceanoid, she has knowledge of a lot of things, including the concept of a masterpiece that also exists in the oceans and underwater kingdoms.
'The intelligent species that exists in the deep waters, as she has told me a few times, also has competitions where they try to create a masterpiece which also follows the same set standards that the humans have been following for thousands of years.'
But according to her, one usually takes years, decades, or perhaps even centuries to create something that could even come close to those high standards and could be recognised as a masterpiece.
[{ That special human, as well as that Being connected with him… they know the Truths, so it isn't surprising that they are able to create such things. }]
As a being closely connected with the waters and almost a divine being, she had an understanding that far surpassed even my own.
And, she wasn't even born yet…
"You're amazing, you know?"
[{ Hmmm? }]
It might be another out of the blue thing from my side, but there was no doubt about it.
She understood art even better than me who was there to create one of these twelve grand pieces.
[{ The amazing are the ones who create things, Young Quinny. As a being yet to enter the physical world, I'm nothing more than a Voice.
I cannot do anything even if I understand a lot of things and know a lot about them.
Unlike my parents, unlike my past selves, unlike the what I will become, the current me is merely an egg. }]
"A very pretty egg, you must add."
She was not simply a creature, she was different from the other familiars of the other students.
She was different, not just because she understood art, but also because she had a way to express herself.
[{ Beauty is a subjective matter, Quinny. }]
"And yet we have a set standard to define a masterpiece."
She was humble and she was cute. Just how amazing will she be when she actually hatches?
"We should go and see Zoe's piece once again later."
[{ Absolutely. }]
The twelve classes created twelve masterpieces against each other's expectations.
Especially the teachers who had been fighting against one another at the start, started working together and then helped one another finish things, meet the criteria, and finish up their projects.
'Lucifer also helped a lot of them with his deep inside, and Zoe…'
Well, there were no words to describe just how much helpful Zoe had been for not just our class, but to each one of the teachers, students, and staff that had been working on these projects.
"She's amazing as well."
There weren't many people as amazing as her, especially when it came to the things related to Creation.
'She was the top of her class when it came to all the creation classes that she was taking, and her pieces were so amazing that her teachers even considered her a talent that has never been seen before.'
To start with, she was amazing with things like blacksmithing, artifact creation, carving, detailing, painting, and enchantment.
The way she created each of the elements of her not so big project structure alone has so many details that it was impossible to even understand how she might have thought about all of them and, how she might have conceived her class teacher to go with all her crazy ideas.
"Do you remember the stories that were circulating about her being crazy a few weeks ago?"
[{ They were hilarious, obviously. When someone does not fathom a talent, they either admire its awe, or they foolishly make fun of it like they did. }]
"Thankfully though, she had Sir Elkan as her class teacher."
Class A was going to be the best candidate for the winning position this time around, it was obvious from just the first look at their project… their unique representation of one of the most important aspects of this academy that every one of the students as well as the residents knew about: Sir Quesnel.
[{ He could have favoured her from the start since she's his niece, but instead of favouring her like humans usually would, he took the class opinion, which was in a complete favour of what she wanted to do, and worked with it.
It is admirable how there are humans who would properties their duties over their relationships. }]
In the animal kingdom, be it ocean or the ground, the concept of immediate family was the most important thing for most parts.
Most beings would choose their family over something as abstract as a duty. The morality and values applied differently there, and yet, Ov understood how difficult things are when it comes to humans…
"It's pretty however many times you see it."
[{ Certainly. }]
While class A had created the most amazing and perhaps comparatively the smallest structure, class I, Lucifer's class, has created the one that was the biggest when it comes to their Structure.
The kind of detailing Class A had added to their project representing Sir Quesnel, the great ancient tree that had been present on the island since the dawn of the academy or perhaps even before that was an important part of not just the academy but the entire island of magic's wealth.
'But, they didn't just create a tree or a sapling.'
What Zoe, her class, and Mr. Elkan created was a model made of adamantium, which was similar to a block puzzle.
'They made around three hundred and sixty nine block pieces individually, each one of them containing a level of details that were so mind blowing that each individual seeing it would be charmed by the intricacies of the whole thing.'
What was more amazing about their structure though, was how one can take these blocks out of the structure at will from any point and it wouldn't affect the structure itself.
And, since the details of each of these blocks spoke a unique story themselves, when one took it out and looked at it closely, they would find themselves looking at a page of history that we might not might not have learned in our classes.
The entire class A had worked on it, and still, on the credit list, the first name that was written belonged not to the homeroom teacher of the class, but to Zoe, a student, and the captain of Wisdom phoenix.
'And just like her… her big brother's name was written at the very top of the list of contributors who helped in creating, quite genuinely, a miniature version of the island of magic wealth- or the island that it originally used to be.'
It was a floating island upon which birds of various kinds had gathered.
There were creatures living on that small floating island now, and, just like the detailed version of Sir Quesnel that class A created, the details that class I was able to add to it was genuinely fascinating.
"We tried, alright."
[{ That you definitely did, Quinny. }]
Even though we had to take help from the other classes, with the help from Chry and our other classmates and of course our poor teacher, we, the students of class K, the most unfortunate class among all the other classes, still managed to barely meet the criteria for the project… and finished a materialised water structure of a Cerulean Apis.
Our version of the special blue honeybee that each of the students would have seen when they were in the great garden that Class L had created in their own manner.
And we had fun making it…
Much more fun than what some other classes might have had with their confined methods, and low plasticity.
