Chapter 959 Structural design
[Eon's POV: ]
There weren't any chairs present in this place and this chat was going to go on for a while at the very least so the teacher asked us to just sit down on the floor after he created some earth element soft rocks throughout the place.
They were comfortable and they were also quite unique so, even though some of the nobles from our class were reluctant at first, when they sat down on the clean rock, they didn't find it uncomfortable.
"Then, let us start with the structure."
These rocks were his creation, but unlike his live creations like that bat that led the Big guys to the back door, these things were made from elemental magic of the Support series.
And they were comfortable, so there were no complaints about that thing.
-Oooooooooooooong!
Everyone was here and everyone had settled down so, he activated the big projection device in the centre and a much bigger version of the red blueprint that we had seen in the class yesterday appeared above all of us.
"Any suggestions on how we should go about the structural design, anyone? You can speak from your places, everyone will hear your voice."
There were special artifacts present all over this place and one of them amplified the voices of each individual that spoke up within the designated area.
[{ "Should we include Alpha in our network temporarily?" }]
[{ "You know why we don't tell him this, Rein." }]
Celes had also asked me many times why we don't have Captain Alpha within the special network that she oversees.
With her clones, she can connect with hundreds of people and we can talk with the telepathic link without any problems.
Many people in our group knew about this unique telepathic link, even Miss Mia did. But, he wasn't one of them… and there was a reason behind that.
[{ "But what will he understand? We need his special point of view so… I can't we just have him for the time being?" }]
It's true that even if we talk through this connection, he wouldn't understand what actually is going on.
There was no appraisal skill that could allow one to understand what is going on, but, since he's a unique case, I don't want to risk this one.
[{ "Revealing Celes' existence to him right now isn't exactly what I want." }]
It might be dangerous for all we know.
He was still very mysterious in many aspects.
"Oh, I see some hands. Alright let's start from the back… Miss Rashel?"
We had decided to build the floating island and to make this floating island, the blueprint that I provided had divided the entire structure into three different parts.
'The very outer part was going to be the structure or the frame on which this island was going to be constructed.'
Then there was the inner portion that was called the 'Engine' and then the very outer part of the main area that will hold most of the details about this particular piece.
'We will have to decide on the outer part after the Structure and the 'Engine' is created.'
The frame is the most important at the moment, so for the time being, we will have to deal with this matter first.
"Since this is going to be the design of the Island of magic's wealth, we should maintain the current structure of the island."
That was a good suggestion… but only when we were actually creating the Island of magic's wealth that we all see today.
"Oh? It is a nice suggestion."
[{ "I've never liked her, darling." }]
Her first impression in our class wasn't the best. She started off insulting a student from a common background and was scolded by the teacher, but she did her best to regain her lost reputation within the class.
"However, Miss Rashel."
She even approached us many times, the commoner students that were famous throughout the academy, but even though she has had lunch with us a few times, she isn't exactly part of the group like a few other classmates of ours.
[{ "Well, she's like that because of her upbringing. Not her fault or anything." }]
"Understand that we are not making the Current island that everyone knows about. This is specifically what the island used to be like… we are focusing on the older structure of this island."
She was arrogant and even though she wanted to try and mix in with the students with a common background, she just couldn't understand them.
'It wasn't her fault, she just couldn't mix in with the mixed culture we had within our lunch group.'
Unlike the others from a noble lineage, she wasn't taught to understand how the other cultures worked. She was a simple noble like many others of this school so she just liked hanging out with those she was comfortable with.
"I see. Apologies for my lack of understanding, teacher."
She used to be more troublesome at first. But she had at least somewhat adjusted to the academy's system.
Your journey continues with empire
"It's alright, it's alright. The suggestion to keep the original structure intact is a good start. We can start from there."
Sure it was a nice suggestion.
But there was a problem… a problem that a lot of students noticed and raised their hands.
"Yes, yes. I understand we don't know anything about how this island used to be, or the structure that it had at the beginning."
And Sir Jez had noticed that as well.
"The geological features of a land changes over time… according to what we know, this island used to be part of some landmass on the ground, somewhere around the eastern continent."
That much everyone knew already since we had learned it in history class… well, it was more of a story so, believing it wasn't the point, but still, it was a good basic lesson.
"From what we all know, I understand the island that we see right now is not the same as what it used to be… however, as everyone knows, we have no way to know how this island used to look like."
Well, technically that was the case until a few months ago.
"However…" Sor Jez looked around his students from the centre of the semicircle, a smile present on his face.
"A few months ago, a paper was published anonymously that gave insight on what the island geography could have been like around the time the Great Academy Of Hope was created."
Thanks to the records left behind by my master in the form of memory fragments, I saw how the original Masters found the island, played around this unique floating landmass, and created the Keeper in order to preserve the uniqueness of this dangerous landmass.
-Ooooooong!
"We don't know who the writer of this research paper is and how they conducted many of the studies, but the kind of details that they have here, details verified by the Elders of the council, are phenomenal."
It took me a while to finish that paper, but with all the things going on in the academy, in our early days here when I had just learned about Master's connection with the creators of the academy, with nothing much to do, I did some fun stuff with my new knowledge and that paper was the end result…
"You will learn how to write these things in your third year, but, if any of you is interested in highly detailed quantitative research check this thing out… you might learn a thing or two even if you don't understand all of it."
Some things were complicated for the students, yes, but it was a simple paper on the island that they had been studying on for a few months now.
They would at least understand a few of the objectives and the hypothesis I've tried to prove.
"Anyway… we have the data on how the island used to look like in the past, and this record is the earliest data we have on the island's geography so we will be going with this."
There was little data when it came to the state of this island before the time of known history.
Most people don't even know how this academy has existed for only a few thousand years while the island itself is tens of thousands of years old.
'If they find out how this place used to be the playground of the young divine beasts that created the academy, they would be pretty surprised, shocked even.'
But it's better that they don't know about the things that THEY never wanted anyone to know about.
"I have studied this paper, and according to what I understand, this should be the basic structure of the island in its early stages…"
With his Blood animation and Creation magic, Sir Jez first created something that seemed like an uneven red rock.
Then this uneven rock was filled with more blood, some earth element was added into it, and along with some more blood, a basic uneven shape of land was created on his hand.
"The structure design refers to the framework, so this island itself won't be what we create."
It was a miniature version of the island… which soon got divided into various parts.
"We can't make it too complicated, but we will be making it big enough to fit this place, so it cannot be too small either."
The parts that this island was divided into were simply the outer structure, the frame that was supporting this outer structure, another frame to support the first frame, some other elements to support the other frames, an inside part for the Engine, and lastly the core area that will power the device that will keep the island afloat.
"We don't have months or years, but only weeks so the work will have to be quick, and we will have to be careful with the inside if we want to make the outside beautiful."
Ultimately, this isn't a science project but an art project.
However complicated we make the inside and however technical we go with this, unless we meet the criteria and make it relatable to the judges, we don't have any chance of winning.
'And none of us wants that.'
Zoe was already explaining to her class her amazing idea, and they would start the creation process soon.
'She's aiming for the winning number, so all of the other classes will be in a tough position.'
She and Lizzy in class A, Carla, Med and Alf in class B, Tia in class C, Prince Alpheu and two other Prodigies in class D, Princess Luna and Princess Ezra, Ball, Quin, Chry, Eula, Rexie…
The other captains, the other prodigies of the golden era, and the people that were famous in the creation line like Miss Mia and a few others from Aqua mirror… it's going to be difficult for all of them when they see Zoe's idea when it's made public.
'It's going to be crazy… but hey, we all can at least fight for the second position, right?'
